  1. Anyone else cringe for a second when he gets the ball thinking it's McKenzie? Might take me a while to get used to it.
  2. Beveridge is a little like what Daniher was like in that he is completely one-eyed and unforgiving of his team's assessment. Of course he'd have Stringer over Hoga.
  3. Bringing in Pedo, Dawes and Spencer would be a mistake. Pick two.
  4. You have to take the good and the bad with teams like this. When we are high we play like schoolboy all stars but when we struggle (and I think we only really *struggled* twice this year, against Bombers and Saints), there is a massive dropoff. You have to expect that and be prepared for more games like that. The difference between this inexperienced side and the one from 2010, 2011 is that we have a really good contingency of experience: not too much, not too little, and better "ball winners" than we did then. I think we still might struggle agains a Hawthorn, West Coast and even Freo, but it's a learning curve and part of the process.
  5. We were experimenting and playing in second gear I thought. Still pumped them and would have won by 100+ had the wind not been as crazy as it was. It was tough going out there. I thought we were quite good even with Gawn, Jones, Viney, Vince not being particularly useful.
  6. IN: Jetta, Dunn, Tyson OUT: Michie, OMac, Hunt
  7. 6. Hogan 5. Petracca 4. Stretch 3. Bugg 2. Harmes 1. Watts
  8. He is not terrible, certainly no worse than Garland. Terrible thread. We won by 70 points.
  9. Jones, vince, viney, gawn all having very average days. Hogan and Petracca our best by far, Stretch close behind. Martin has done a great job of silencing Gawn but also can't get involved himself. Very uninspiring game.
  10. Jones giving away a lot of stupid free kicks lately.
  11. I don't smoke but I'm going for a smoke.
  12. They have looked better this quarter than Melbourne have at any point during the day.
  13. Giving away lazy free kicks. They will win this.
  14. God our backline is average. They look like scoring every time they go forward.
  15. They have scored all of their goals from stoppages and throw-ins in the back half. Our defense is not great.
  16. A lot of people disregarding the conditions. Tough kicking with such a swirling wind. We are doing fine. Not spectacular but we're on track for 20 goals....
  17. Uninspiring but scoreboard is about right. Wind makes kicking tough and you can tell. We're a 14-15 goal better side but in these conditions anywhere between 5-10 goals.
  18. As far as most punchable faces go, Daniher is right up there.
  19. I was confident we'd win but cautious. Today I am just confident. I loss would be a far bigger indictment on the team's progress and improvement than the Essendon loss. This Brisbane team is much, much worse than any team Essendon has fielded this year.
  20. A defensive zone dictates full team awareness. Everyone needs to run both ways in transition. Unmanned opponents is a breakdown of that awareness. Man on man does not work in footy and hasn't for 20 years. When it works, you don't notice the zone. But when it doesn't you scream "MAN UP!". It's a team game and the best teams win flags, and the best teams play an effective zone, and have since the Bombers of 2000. They introduced it.
  21. Swans showed tonight that the zone works. You need 100% commitment across the ground and players that run both ways. Good defensive awareness in the backline, middle and attack wins you flags. It's not just about "manning up".
