  1. I aret MM very highly and a HF line with him and Bate on either sid is mouthwatering. I am, however, reluctant to trade any of the top 4 picks unless a serious bargain comes up.
  2. BUMP for Yze_Magic correctness
  3. James Strauss for me, big wraps on this kid.
  4. Actually. the saying that is said on Rosh Hashana is 'Shana Tova' Tov(a)=good, so, "good new year" is more correct...
  5. Especially now that Pendlebury broke his leg...
  6. Next year and beyond is about winning. We need one before GC's 10 year or so window opens and we need to be better than them during the first few years of that

  11. I'm not sure about SC but a Melbourne supporter known at BigFooty (and formerly here) as 'Ausyid' had his 'The Gold Standard' team come at a vey respectable 16th in DT to come first for the Dees
  12. In theory it was a good bet, but IMO i can see Hardwick giving them something next year and for them to have a good one...before going back to shitness. Still don't see how they could finsih above us

  19. Of course we're taking a look at him! Doesn't mean we'll take him
  20. must say that I'm proud to be a dees supporter right now...proud and excited!!
  21. In my opinion, let Scully do what David Neitz did and add his own number to the list of legendary and traditional Melbourne Numbers
  22. This is, I believe, my first post for at least 10 weeks or even the year after wondering the vast forums of BigFooty; and let's hope this is my last before the end of the dark era of losses, insecurity and lows with some, very rare, occasions where we could feel a high and sing the song or kick the ball with the dazzling sunshine beaming onto our home, the MCG. But, let's not forget what happened at the start, something that will hopefully never happen again...our club looking as though it would be gone before even the Gold Coast came in, that we would be the last generation to hear the legendary 'it's a grand old flag'. Yet, if the unthinkable had happened, as Martin Flanagan would point out, there would still be a crowd, a crowd united to see the last players to play in the red and blue run out of the tunnel, there would be a crowd to see the gates of the MCC or the Melbourne Change Rooms, where so many legends have linked arms after a win to proudly sing the song, bolted for the last time. That is, in essence, what will happen because after tommorrow the gates will be closed. Through these gates will be 45 years of dissapointment, loss, false dawns and tragedy and finally, the last thing that will be locked behind those gates of misery will be the curse of Norman Smith, perhaps banging at the gates while the Melbourne Demons lift that coveted cup, Jack Grimes and Dean Bailey with a hand on each handlebar while along with the sun, the spirits of the real Norm Smith, the one who loved Melbourne with all his heart, Troy Broadbridge and many others who all, in one way or another saw the dream of a premiership ripped out of the grasp. I'm talking of course of those who played for the demons from 1964 to what will be that magical day which will see what is the greatest of all the AFL finally have risen again.
  23. I've always been a huge sceptic of tanking, but...PLEASE Melbourne do it for the future of our club!! Its been 45 years since our last Premiership and 9 since our last Grand Final appearance, this chance is too good to miss! Had we not given Carlton what they wanted we could have ended up with Judd who ended up finding the lure of playing with future stars Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and more attractive then his boyhood club, and of course Natanui AND Watts; imagine if right now we had both a future forward star and a ruckman with a F***ing vertical leap! I'm already drooling over Watts/Butcher and think it could/WILL be as good or better than the Neitz/Robertson combo when they were both playing their best footy. I don't know too much about Scully but from what I've read he's given up his teenage years to get into the AFL and is an elite midfielder in the '2001 4 draftees' (Judd, Ball, Hodge, Bartel) ilk
