  1. PJ my concern with the Board is that by them putting in $170K (I thank them for that) last year they have admitted their FAILURE in not getting the MFC's business plan to fruition in being a well run club making enough of a profit to satisfy the needs of the Football Department. The fact that they need to go cap in hand to the Heroes each year for more $$$ only serves to show what failures they and CEO have been. The Debt Demolition was designed to be a one off campaign to balance the books and allow the club to get square and start making profits - not an annual begging bowl .
  2. Choco Williams is crazy enough to take the job and might just do it right.
  3. Jack Hannath would have been handy to replace Spencer who was brushed aside by the Suns.
  4. My reading of the Mifsud and Tanking threads leads me to question the actions of one Ian Flack - former Player Welfare officer at Melbourne. He was mentioned in Caro's article about Mifsud and spilled his guts to the Tanking investigators.
  5. Just maybe the problem and the solution is the centre square setups and the midfield coach Choco Royal? Why didn't Jamar tap it back if our mids were behind their Port opponents? Tapping it to your feet is never going to provide clearances. Where were the coaches and Craig at quarter time to instruct Jamar where to tap the ball? Why did the defence 6 have huddle after every goal scored against them? Whatever the reason it didn't do any good.
  6. "The way I see it is Neeld is a tough task master and seems very motivated. With Bailey it seems the players had the complete opposite environment so with most bases covered in the coaching spectrum, it is the players that are responsible in my eyes. It was still the same blokes too, recruited and nurtured in the Bailey era which were letting the side down (aside from say Gillies/Pedersen who can be forgiven in their very first game for the club for not dominating)." I want the players to be motivated - not just the coach. That is his primary function to provide the players with the tools to go out and win games - fitness, game plan and MOTIVATION. The last motivator we had was Swooper Northey! You guys missed the topic - Clarkson available for 2014 - no mention of sacking coaches mid year.
  7. I have heard from a Hawk supporter that Paul Roos will coach them next year. This leaves Clarko available? What do you think?
  8. Did the jumper come with elastic sides?))
  9. P_Man' Jordan Lewis has signed a new contract with Hawks - no chance for Dees unless we trade for him.
  10. BD They should go back to WCE of 92 and 94 - bulked up bigtime and had a few colourful racing identities around the place.
  11. Did anyone hear Andrew D on 3AW with Neil Mitchell say that Melbourne had NOT responded by close of business yesterday to the tanking inquiry?
  12. You say that our club is well run and quote the debt levels at other clubs to justify your argument....and misqote the MFC level of debt. Is our club well run from a financial point of view when the Club has to go the members each year to chip in $500K to $1M to balance the books? The Board chipped in $130K in 2012 as part of the Heroes campagn. (you could look at that as an admission of failure by the Board and CS in running the Club) Where is the business model to provide the profits and cash flows to fund the FD and grow the Club? My query with CS is not whether he has done a good job but could the Club do better? Is there a better candidate out there?
  13. Since taking over the Bentleigh Club and its Blalance Sheet we are now in debt (about $1.9M from memory).
  14. My expectation is that we will win 10+ games. If not, then Neeld will be on very uncertain ground - I believe the supporters will not put up with another disappointing season and we will ask Paul Roos to coach in 2014. The Club's business plan of mining the supporter base each year to balance the books is unsustainable without some on field success.
  15. He would make Cale look solid - but his courage was huge. Suberb evasive skills which only let him down in his last game - 1987 Prelim Final when Dipper fixed his AC joint.
  16. Latest Caro article does not look good... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/tanking-affair-afl-to-lift-the-lid-on-melbournes-vault-20121030-28h3c.html
  17. Source please...not on afl.com.au
  18. It is my understanding that Stef deferred his studies this year to allow him to concentrate on footy. He should be in this week vs Lions.
  19. I think you guys left out the fact that SS was waiting for a hospital ball on the wing with Dipper coming from one side and Dermie from the other - which one of us would not have taken a step back?
  20. The 5 year contract for JV is a furphy according to Todd as it is illegal for MFC to contract an under age yet to be drafted player. JV is elligible to be drafted by another club if we don't take him with our first round pick. This would be an unlikely event with Todd having the microphone at the draft.
  21. The Club statement said he missed the meeting after arriving late....Could have been a short meeting or he was very late?
  22. Redleg - see http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-scraps-priority-pick/story-e6frf9jf-1226277216720 in Herald-Sun
  23. It's a pity he could not kick. Looked to handball at all times.
