i'd like to see a new rule brought in, I think if a ball is touched off the boot a mark should still be paid if it travels the required 15 m distance. I'm so sick of the spectacle of seeing players take great grabs from kicks that were touched and not hearing the umps call of "touch ball" only to then suffer the ignominy of claiming the mark looking all confused while they get mercilessly tackled resulting in what would 9 times out of ten be a holding the ball decision but which is usually balled up as they are given the benefit of the doubt of not hearing the "play on" call. Happens at least once a game and it tarnishes the brand for mine. Obviously, if a shot at goal is touched off the boot it shouldn't be a goal.

Saw nothing in that interview to inspire much confidence. Just the usual cliches and platitudes. Comments that concerned me about the coaching of the club: "Whatever team we're put up against we're gonna attack them the same way" Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I'd be concerned if they aren't being coached to approach each opponent slightly differently, depending on their relative strengths and weaknesses and gameplan tendencies. Not sure what to make of this comment but doesn't inspire much confidence in me about our match-day preparation considering how bad we've been so far this season. Anyway, I still think it was a bad decision making the young bloke co-skipper, he doesn't come across as a leader of men, more like a school prefect. He's too bloody young.

I realised tonight that I'm as mentally weak as the club I support as I watched in horror at the first half. I couldn't take any more of that so went for a drive to try and clear my head but for some stupid reason kept turning the radio on to check the score. By the time I got home the game was almost done and we were 120+ points down. I was absolutely ropable and ended up getting into a major argument with my wife which I'm completely ashamed of. How mentally weak am I that I can let this club affect me in such a huge way that it jeopardises my relationship with my family. So it is for this reason that I must stop following the club, stop investing so much of my emotional happiness in the fortunes of a bunch of overpaid, pi55weak losers who have failed to inspire me and put me in a bad mood almost every winter weekend for the past 6 years. I'm done.

A lot of people are getting defensive on this thread. I don't see the topic as a "who's the better player?" Issue rather than a "which player is a better fit for MFC?" Issue. Toumpas will likely be good but we need players like Wines to support Jones and Viney right now. Our midfield is so undermanned its not even true and to draft a pacy winger when wines was available was a mistake I think.

I'm sick of having the pity of my mates and family who all support other teams and having absolutely no comeback for it. I don't feel like I've got anything to rest a hope on or get excited about. Jack viney is going to be good but one player does not a team make. Who knows what's going to happen this season, all sights point to another spoon and a possible coach sacking.
