  1. Yeah but Col will have a breakout year this year, Mark my words - he's gonna be a gun one day.......
  2. He has spent his life in footy clubs and knows no other business. His reporting lines/structure was abominable as outlined by Jackson. Way too much power and little accountability. He also had breadth in his skill set and was frankly left to run free by Stynes and the Board. Its not fashionable to say it but it was Stynes biggest mistake by a long way.
  3. Can you pizzz off with your politics. Not the place for it.
  4. Why is Dale Thomas first round and Sylvia second round? What has Thomas actually won? A B&F? Brownlow?
  5. Like has has been supporting them for the last seven? Most selfish player we had on our list. Last person to support anyone.
  6. I am shocked. Posters on here have been telling me for 10 yrs he is a gun!
  7. Bye Col Your contribution to the MFC was outstanding. I really hope you get a full pre-season in cos you'll be a gun one day. I'm sure of it. And even though you never cracked it inside the top 5 for the Bluey in your magnificent 10 repeat 10 years at our great club I'm sure you'll go really great at Freo where Ross Lyon will have you working your ring off. You might make it to the top 20 at Freo so I wish you well. And if you want a tip - stay away from those Northbridge nightclubs
  8. What did they achieve for us??
  9. If they take him off the list it must be realised in 1 year.
  10. FA was always going to come. There would have been a legal challenge otherwise...
  11. Everyone gets the same amount from TV. Some clubs get better coverage on Friday nights etc that allow themto get more marketingand sponsorship dollars. The real issue is the stadium deals.....
  12. Papers are saying Goodes on $750k and O'Keefe on $500k. Their rookies must be getting paid shiite. No wonder Roos is trying to nab a few!!
  13. The we are stuffed with Sylvia cos he's been useless in the Bluey.
  14. All AFL managers are on a fixed percentage. I believe it is 2% of the players salary. They can negotiate for any percentage on extra deals such as media appearances, book deals etc. Nonetheless he is making plenty - and yes he is Gary abletts manager.
  15. Goodes would be on at least 500k. Oh yeah he probably gets marquee player status so goes into the black hole marketing budget supported by the AFL
  16. Particularly when he was running away from Brogan....
  17. Looks to have something. Better than a number of others
  18. Not sure who at Essendon is supposedly orchestrating this, They haven't a CEO or a footy operations manager or a coach.
  19. If Col leaves it won't make much difference to Melbourne's performance.
  20. I don't care, it's Jacks fault.
  21. You could be right about the vertical stripes! Lets look at ours that are of similar build. Trengove 185/85 Sylvia 186/87 McKenzie 186/82 Strauss 185/85 Grimes 187/85 Bail 183/82 Terlich 186/85 They all look a bit stockier than their Hawk counterparts.. Bail is probably the closest ti the Hawk guys. Good endurance. pretty quick. Just can't kick. Strauss is the one that should be tearing it up for us by now. And I hope Grimes is having kicking lessons over summer. And the other thing is the number of left footers. The Dorks have so many of them....
  22. Some interesting (to me anyway) observations about Hawthorn's list: The Imports They have filled gaps probably better than any club. They have players wanting to go to the club which helps. But they have lured Gunston, Burgoyne, Lake, Gibson and Hale. All have been tremendous pick ups and held down critical positions. Body shape They have a lot that are in the same vein. Tall but not particularly big: Shiels 183cm/84kgs, Suckling 187/86, Smith 188/82, Ellis 187/80. Gunston 193/84, Lewis 186/88, Savage 182/82, Bruest 184/84 These guys are strong and contest as well as anyone yet they aren't massively big. In fact I'd say they look skinny. We can seem to get the right combination of strength. speed and endurance. Speed Smith, Rioli, Bruest, Buddy give them great run. We are so far behind them in speed it ain't funny. Kicking skills Goes without saying but they are extraordinary with their accuracy - altho it helps greatly they run and spread incredibly well. System Their press and pressure were outstanding. They seem to have changed it slightly but everyone does their job and their captain is brilliant at organising everyone around him. In the last quarter he went back and even though Lake was having a blinder, Hodge marshalled the troops back there as well as anyone ever has. The culture of the club is amazing, here is a club that played in 8 GFs straight yet found themselves on the poor end of a merger proposal, The way they have re-engineered the club is actually pretty incredible. We have a long way to go. BTW FWIW was speaking to a Swans premiership player yesterday about Roos and he said he was really good but he wont hang around if its not working - hence the 2y contract with a third year option.....
  23. The club made enough exceptions to have LJ at the club. He didn't train the same amount, wasn't measured by the same criteria, didnt have to do a lot of things that regular players had to do or adhere to the same rules that others had to adhere to. I get that LJ had special circumstances about his upbringing, language, culture etc however, (and its not popular to say this) the latitude we gave LJ was thrown back in our faces. And it polarised the playing group. 'why could he get away with things that we are not able to' I don't care what people say, when you allow certain players to do things or treat them differently then it becomes harder to enforce a 'group think' about training loads, expectations on performance, commitment etc. Its human nature. Let alone the fact he threw it back in the faces of those he trained with and those that supported him.. There is no going back. Its a romantic notion because he had sublime skills, But move on. It would be a disaster.
  24. Trade for Pederson Gillies AND Strauss
