Looks like a lead up fwd rather than a pack marker and given our poor delivery into the fwd line its no surprise that he struggled in 2017. Needs to show some signs in 2018: signs of smarts, aggression, intensity, refusal to get beaten etc If he shows those then he gets more time to develop. Something to hang your hat on. Hasn't really shown any traits to hang your hat on at this stage.

2017 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy
jnrmac replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't be too bolshy Bin Person. Oscar played 20 games for 196 points. Thats an average of 2.45pts out of 10pts from each coach per game. They are marked from 0 to 10 each game by 4 match committee members. Hardly gun stats. -
Yep its a given 2011 Rory Taggert, Josh Tynan, James Sellarm Jai Sheehan, Tom Couch, James Magner, Leigh Williams. 2010 Lucas Cook, Troy Davis, Daniel Nicholson, MIchael Evans, Kelvin Lawrence, Robert Cambell, Tom Macnamara, Tom McDonald, Jeremy Howe, Jordie McKenzie, Jake Spencer We nailed those two drafts. Set us up for failure....

2017 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy

This worries me as well. Couldn't get the players 'up' for their biggest test in 10 years. He seems like he is on mogadon the whole time. Seed of worry in my brain. -

Remind you of the difference between Oliver and someone else who has 300 threads to his name? -
This is such a BS line. It wouldn't matter of watts was pick 60 If he doesn't put in the work that is required. In fact your whole post is BS. Goodwin hates him? Watts a matchwinner? - one game out of 150? Are you serious? Watts is a good guy therefore we should keep him? Thank the Lord you aren't in charge of our list or we wouldn't win a flag for 100 years. But we would have a team of good blokes. Seriously its pathetic.

He is almost a carbon copy of Sylvia. Do you want a team of people that can't be relied upon and do not commit to being professional? I don't. I want 22 players every week that will try their guts out to win this club a flag. Players that will do everything in their power to improve and strive for greatness. Talent on its own is overrated. Roos implored the players to choose to be great. Watts got dropped from the pre-season games. Says it all really.

Which perhaps adds to the GNF story about the club being peeved about his rehab........

Gawn had a really poor season after coming back from injury. Clubs also worked him out a bit. Agree he needs to lift. -

Interesting that the knockers have gone silent. His leadership is invaluable. IMO Lewis' decision is also one of the reasons we might be getting Lever. When class players choose your club it attracts other class players. We have never had this before at our club. Its great. -

A player can Get between 0 and 40 votes per game. That gives plenty of opportunities for some baffling results. -

Oh dear...do you have access to his GPS numbers and training stats Sue? Do you have access to the game plan and what Watts is instructed to do in a game? Do you think the coaches (pro tip: who vote in the B&F) might have a reasonable idea of what he does and what he should be doing? For those if us outside the club the B&F is the best guide to how a player is judged by those that matter. And in that, Jack is a failure - regardless of where he was drafted. Your unquestioning support of Jack is touching but in reality grounded in emotive claptrap. You need to get a grip.

Watts' finishes in the B&F: 2016 5th 2015 18th 2014 10th 2013 11th 2012 16th 2011 9th 2010 25th No-one anywhere has said they expect him to be in our top 3 in the B&F but if you really believe the above is a good return for someone with so much talent then all I can say is I am glad you are not in charge of our recruiting & list management. And from Watts' own mouth at the B&F last year upon receiving his fifth-place award: “I’ll make it (speech) short, it’s taken me a while to get up here (on stage). “Usually, I’m down there feeling a bit awkward drinking free p---”. Can you imagine Viney saying that?
