with all of this being said, Watts hasn't showed all that much when talking about a number 1 pick. Sure he had a great carnival but many players have kicked bags of goals in the carnival and turned out to be good but not great players. Watts has shown a soft side to his game, so that automatically rules him out being a big, tough key position forward(such as brown, fevola and even franklin who loves the rough stuff), and he has no where near the same courage as a riewoldt. Naitanui is a must.

One is a Key position player, one is a nuggety midfielder and the other one is a 6 foot lightning fast midfielder. I know who i would take. Its stupid when people say you cant compare different players. Mal Michael v Franklin etc. ITs pretty bloody obvious.

Ur an idiot. It's not about producing the best team for next year, its about compiling a list of players that will have a tilt at the flag in the years down the track. Your team may beat the likely team, but the likely team will be much more likely to win a next flag. Adding Jono Brown and Cousins to our raw kids does not get us close to a premiership.

personally i dont think buckleys disposals are anywhere near as bad as what people are making out to be. it could be his decision making but not his actual kicking. His kicking is a hell of alot better than Bate's and Jones' thats for sure

I dont know why people are so surprised. bate has always had appalling agility and foot skills. I also find it baffling how demonlanders are so angry that we have crap players yet to get better players we need to lose this game. Its catch 22. thanks dee-luded, if you look at the best key forwards in the comp Jono Brown, Fevola and Franklin..they all have natural aggression. Riewoldt is not so naturally aggressive by nature but his courage is probably the best in the comp for a key forward. Watts seems to be a talented basketballer turned footballer with no aggression. I think the only way Watts can counter this is if he puts on 20kg if muscle and becomes a combination of speed and mass. Rich is as safe a bet as you can ask for though. He would probably be one of our best midfielders already.

as much as i know we need a key position forward, rich is the best available in my opinion. just try and target a key position forward with our next 2 picks. I think people are just a bit in awe of the fact that Watts was a good basketballer before he chose football only recently. We have to remember that many basketball players make football look easy because they usually have superior awareness and better hands Basketballers can play footy but not the other way around because footballers often don't have the finesse in the hands. But Watts seem to lack natural aggression which is obviously important in a footy player.

i dont think martin would be happy with being compared with miller. miller got moved all over the place because he never was good in any position.

yeh so would i high tower, but if you go to the demons home page there is an article where bailey says that martin may get a rucking responsibility. I don't really care if Meesen gets a game, but if he does then Yze, Petterd, Carroll, etc should come with him, if bailey is true to his words of rewarding good vfl performances. Bailey seems to say one thing but do another. Yze's form has been awesome for example and if he doesn't deserve to play seniors than meesen certainly doesn't.

His footskills are probably near the best of any ruckman in the comp as well as his workrate around the ground. Clearly ahead of ruckmen like Blake who is getting a gig at the cats. Anyway, I don't really care to see him go because i don't see a place for ruckmen in todays game. Green, Bruce, Yze should have been traded at their peak trading value. We would have had a plethora of high first round draft picks if the club had some sense

well just to be picky, its stefan, not stephan. Anyway, i agree that its time to experiment but this wouldnt be good. For starters, Meesen does not deserve a game after one decent vfl game so Stefan will have to be our backup ruckman.
