  1. Incredibly generous r.e., Pickett.
  2. Listening to Rawlings on Trade Radio, it definitely sounds as though the Roos on cooling with regard to trading for Pick 1. We might see some further traction in this space.
  3. Melbourne would be backing themselves to finish higher next year and contending. Therefore you'd like to keep the draft pick tied to the Swans and trade ours (on the basis of expected ladder position).
  4. Yeah I agree, I was expecting it to be a third round that was offered - but depending on where it falls it could be slightly negligible I guess.
  5. According to gettable on Trade Radio, we have offered a future second rounder for McAdam.
  6. He would be a reasonable improvement on Hunter and I think his potential upside would be worth a punt. Like many, a 'restart' at a new club may definitely reinvigorate him and help him to return to the form he showed when he came on the scene. Assuming you wouldn't have to give up a great deal for him, I'd be very interested.
  7. This plus a little from '4'.
  8. I think this is a very balanced view and it's being largely overlooked, the point about that it's not about 21 - 23, but rather how we want to look in 2024. Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw (+ Sparrow); a very decent midfield but also there's not a lot of differentiation between those players. If we're looking to change the mix up, noting that Rivers 'may' get a run through the midfield, we're going to need to be able to obtain the capital to do so. Personally, I think if we can get Petracca to kick straight, he'll become the more damaging player out of Oliver/Petracca. With respect to Viney, Brayshaw and to a lesser extent Sparrow, none of those players are going to generate the capital required to obtain Reid, and as a result, the trade falls to Oliver. I'm not diminishing what Oliver has achieved, nor am I retrospectively diminishing his importance to Melbourne, but if you remove the passion and emotion from the decision, I think it's pretty understandable what the club is attempting to achieve (if it eventuates).
  9. If you want to continue to live in the realm of imagination and eternal optimism that's fine, but don't trivialise the performance of the MFC over the past two seasons. If you're rationalising the result of the Collingwood game that way, then what do you suggest of the loss to Carlton after it; and the straight set exits last year? The side has been a shadow of its Premiership-self since the end of 2021 and I personally have said this for two years. The 'win-loss' ratio masked over many cracks and I would suggest those cracks are coming to the forefront now and opposition sides have worked us out. I agree that injuries play a part in the challenge for the flag and we did well on that front in 2021. But good sides also have the players and depth to cover injuries, which we are lacking and has been demonstrated throughout this year particularly. I would also say your quick comment about simply losing to the Pies by 7 points is trivialising the abomination of footskills that our club has and the sample size is far greater than one loss to the Pies. I'm probably going to be shouted down for this post, but personally I don't think it's as rosy and as simple as saying the club is more than in hunt, with the list as it is. This isn't a doom and gloom post, I absolutely think we can potentially have another tilt - but list improvement is needed and as I said, there are several compromised drafts coming up and you don't want to be relying on those to regenerate.
  10. To be fair, I don’t think the side as it stands is winning another flag. Trading Clarry is a bold call, but I think the club recognises a level of reinvigoration is needed and weighed that against the impeding arrival of the compromised Tasmanian drafts; if the trade eventuates that is.
  11. A trade may not eventuate, but personally I don't see how this is so out of the question and beyond belief as what some people on here are making it out to be. Club(s) are asking a question of a contracted player; at best the club shuts it down and the fact he is a required player is reaffirmed.
  12. When journos report on players who will leave the Dees, they're making it up; when it relates to incoming players, it's gospel.
  13. Disappointing if true but absolutely understandable. I can emphatically see why he'd want to move. In saying that though, what are the chances of the club recanting on their 'required player' position? I imagine it would have to be a somewhat favourable trade, or a trade that could help facilitate other movements the club may wish to be involved in.
  14. Yes, I’m trolling because I said this a premature call.
  15. Insanely premature to make this call off the back of one game, particularly given he’s struggled (IMO) previously.
  16. Yeah, but he runs really, really fast
  17. MFC - Mediocre Football Club
  18. Petracca - Melbourne’s best butcher
  19. He's close to one of the most overrated players in the league. He does the impossible once every 10 games and somehow this results in this totally mythical perception of him. He's done nothing to suggest he was worthy of being a first round draft pick. You can pick up a player that has his output with shrewd drafting in the rookie draft.
  20. Melbourne - No Premiership Threat
  21. Very generous towards May.
  22. He’s the equal biggest sook in the AFL, along with Beverigde. Can’t stand either of them. It’s honestly embarrassing how Hardwick et al. carry on and the disdain they treat reporters with (although they’re not exactly alone in that respect).
