  1. “Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.”
  2. Noting the passage of time, recent performances and the gaps that were evidence this year (even acknowledging injuries), I think that side is a fair way off competing for a top 8 position. Bolded names indicate individuals I have concerns with and suspect their form may slip even further next season. NB: - Petty's selection is in reference to him playing forward, I can't see him delivering any further of substance down forward. - May has been a fantastic servant and was instrumental in our flag, as well as during 2022 and most of 2023. However, there were numerous times this season where he was beaten in contests that you'd previously bank him to win. Looks to have lost a step; will be 33 prior to the start of next season. I still see him as a valuable commodity, but can't see him returning to the form of 21/22.
  3. Would suspect it’s in reference to kinship, seems like it’s just been thrown in as an afterthought though.
  4. BLWNBA replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
    Extended another two years.
  5. I’ll be honest mate, I really don’t know much about him. Would say there’s far more knowledgeable people on here that could provide an answer on that.
  6. There will likely be some distance between this and the incoming, but she’s now facing unrelenting pressure to step down. Can confirm that Steven Smith has been tapped on the shoulder.
  7. I agree that Pickett was somewhat unlucky. But the constant obsession over Maynard by the MFC fan-base is particularly embarrassing and cringeworthy, and I’m not even a fan of him.
  8. I think end of next year will be very, very interesting. I personally suspect this has only occurred due to the inability for a trade to be facilitated and the subsequent realisation. Either way, there is a lot of work to be done from both the Petracca camp and the MFC to reconcile and authentically repair relationships.
  9. FWIW, this has been a regular occurrence with Kozzie and has often reared it's head. I would think at some stage he'll end up playing his career out elsewhere, but it's not the first time that he's raised this with the club and there are no indications he'll be playing elsewhere next year from the perspective of the club.
  10. Sadly, it's just such an incredibly 'Melbourne' thing.
  11. Very well said, the amount of people that are comfortable legitimising her effort under the guise "well, this is what you asked for" is astounding. I am unable to conceivably understand how people can defend her efforts (or realistically, lack thereof) yesterday and the old mantra of "what did you expect her to say?". It is not unreasonable at all, that people expect their President to be a competent media performer. One can accept that such an interview would not, necessarily, delve completely into the vault. But to wheel out that nonsense yesterday is an indictment on the current Club and all members. The MFC have refused to accept any sort of responsibility for the issues which have emerged over the past three seasons; rather, they have preferred to attempt to hide all of the skeletons and trout out corporate speak regarding 'culture', 'visions' and a 'one mission' approach. Had the Club dealt with some of the issues in an authentic and genuine manner, I would suspect we're not in the position we're now in. Own the mistakes, genuinely and authentically learn from them, and then look to create best practice out of it. This isn't to say that mistakes will not - or should not be made; mistakes and mismanagement occurs. But it becomes an issue when it is repetitive, not learned from and ignored. I truly think that is now untenable for Roffey to continue in her role, however, the board is stacked in her favour. I would express similar sentiments regarding Pert regarding the nature of his tenure. There are ruminations that several ex-players are being courted for a potential board challenge; whether this comes to fruition, remains to be seen. But change is clearly needed from the top down and it is needed now.
  12. One of the best and most accurate accounts on here; and some of them still have their head in the sand!
  13. This should've occurred at the end of last season. The salvageable gains that would come from one are significantly diminished due to the passage of time and damage incurred, but it still has to occur.
  14. I'd be looking at him regardless of the Koz situation. Would also be very interested in Alex Davies.
  15. Leadership is an enabler (or disabler) of culture; Roffey and Pert are absolutely correlated with the current climate. At the very least, even if they are not the causative reason for our issues, they are an enabling reason.
  16. Yeah, it's actually pretty damning given that stakeholder engagement and management is one of her spruiked 'skills'.
  17. Roffey is largely removed from the project, as it stands.
  18. Sounds like there might be some movement on this soon. MFC to contribute a further $20m - $25m towards the development of a training facility at Caulfield.
  19. As I said, people tend to look at the results of those seasons without looking at the substance of the games. You can project all the positivity you wish, I don't buy into it and ultimately the finals results tell the story.
  20. There's far too much emphasis by some solely on the ladder position over form since '21 without looking at the substance of those wins. We were far from convincing in 22 and 23, and the writing was largely on the wall for most of this year. Being 2.5 wins off the bottom four doesn't bode well at all, despite the apparent closeness of the season.
  21. GWS or the Dogs. Realistically, anyone apart from the Blues or Sydney.
  22. I don't think that would exactly strike fear into opposition sides the way you intended via your post.
  23. Weird. I thought it was perennially Maynard’s fault when we lose to the Pies?
