  1. Did I ever say that I was expecting him to be 'physical'? No.
  2. Honestly I'm giving us more of a chance than most, let's not forget how we responded after our WC loss. The blues have had the wood on us in recent years, but let's not forget this game is at the G. Injuries have really hurt our chances though. But as the saying goes, beware the sleeping Dragon!
  3. I won't be wearing them....but my Collingwood supporting girlfriend will be
  4. Agreed, there isn't really anyone else who could actively come in. No point in blooding players that aren't ready for the AFL. Bennell is a good inclusion for the Carlton game I think, and hopefully Morton will be better for the spell but we'll have to wait and see about that. Being dropped and then brought back in is just as much a mental tactic as physically playing at Casey. Let's hope they respond in the best possible fashion.
  5. Nothing but disgruntled Woods, Toiges and Essenbum supporters...
  6. No Jamar, Trengove or Grimes, what's not to like? But seriously, can't help but feel nervous about this game. We're facing our bogey side AND stadium this week (and we'll be back there next week) and without three key players this will be a hard task. However we can take many positives out of our game last week. Campbell played half a game for Casey seniors last week, not sure how he went and his fitness wouldn't be the best but surely he's an outside chance to come in? Possibly swap with Martin if he was to come in too? Newton from what I've rea seems to have been playing consistenly down at Casey too. Trengove being out will hurtt though, he's been in great form this year and was fantastic last week, could have even bagged a couple of Joe the gooses last week. Tough to cover his loss.
  7. Persoanlly I didnt think that's what he was saying, at least going by what was shown on the hundreds of news reports about it. Rather I took it as him saying don't take it out on the MRP, but rather subtly hinting it was the fault of the laws comittee and the AFL for introducing the rule.
  8. Agreed. Watts was easily in the best for me. He really looked to be fruit his heart out. Too bad most of the other team couldnt replicate his endeavor.
  9. No chance of him leaving Carlton. A lot of people are forgetting players are being told to leave contract talks until the new tv rights deals are completed. But anyway back on to Murph, he'll be staying at Carlton and I'll put my house on it.
  10. I really don't think the term 'elite' is used regularly at all. By supporters then yes, possibly? But by those in the know and those with an actual understanding of the game? Hardly. Don't fall into the trap of categorizing supporters and media personalties as 'experts' because it sure seems to be what you're doing. Clearly those working within football departments who've seen him actually play in the TAC have recognized that his skills and abilities are in the 'elite' category, in that particular competition. Give the kid a break. Will these skills transpire over into the AFL? I sure hope so
  11. You don't have to be a genius to understand that is based on his TAC competition results, stats and standing...
  12. Agreed mate. On current form Dunn would be ahead of Bate, however Bate is nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be. He has decent size, can take a strong mark, and IMO is one of our most accurate for goal. What let's him down however is his moverability and awkward turning circle.let's not forget his early form he showed and write him off just yet. But in saying that it will be interesting to see what the FD has instore for him this year in terms of team structure and his place in the side. I've always been a fan of Dunn having seen him play with Vic Metro, and this kid has talent. Yes, it has taken him several years to produce as a player but the best is yet to come. But in terms of his role in the team I don't ever see him fullfilling some peoples idea that he'll be a key forward. His size, speed and agility/movability mean he'll be far more dMaging as a floating flanker who can pinch hit.
  13. AgReed, but it's not exactly ideal in a season where wins are increasingly important to us. He's easily in our best 21 and brings something else to our midfield that Moloney and Jones don't offer, and his tackling ability is far superior to arguably anyone else in the side, and since the departure of McDonald this will become ever so more important to us. Wouldn't mins see Gysberts get a run in his place, but to be honest I really can't wait to see him back on the paddock. Let's hope this "groin issue doesn't turn out to be the dreaded OP!
  14. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/109053/default.aspx Dissapointing to note he'll miss the start of the season.
  15. Same can be said of Frawely. Warnock tries hard but doesn't compare at all. To be honest I thought he was dissapointing and down on his 08-09 form, but I know it's only early days and the season proper hasn't started yet so I'm not going to make any harsh calls on players form just yet
  16. This is the first time I've actually posted on the whole Scully saga as I've tried to avoid (as well as I could) fear mongering on the fact that Scully could be headed North. Though I've found this to an alarming and disconcerting situation to be in, my gut feel has always been that he'll stay in Melbourne. Though this feeling wasn't based on any cold hard facts I came to this belief going on reports about how he conducts himself and how family has been a large part of his life. The fact that he's brought talks forward is encouraging to say the least, and despite the fact we are not over the line yet, it is a clear sign that TS does in fact value the MFC and wants to remain part of our great club.
  17. Sylvia is explosive with pace mate, hardly say he'd be 'modest'
  18. 1. Frawley is irreplaceable 2. Have no immediate choice for a big bodied forward 3. Watts and Maric showing signs
  19. Gotta love the last paragraph in the Watts article!
  20. Was wondering if anyone could tell me how Wade Lees went (35 white)?
  21. I'm pretty indifferent on how the jumper looks really. They're basically always bland, plain and boring and I think that we just need to accept this. The past couple of clash jumpers we've had haven't been as horrendous as they could have been, and I'm thinking that next years will once again be an improvement. They fact that we're staying away from cartoon style graphics is all I care about really, as nothing looks worse. As for who we should wear a clash jumper against, I think they're only a couple sides where it can be an advantage. The obvious sides are Carlton and Essendon. I don't see an issue with Brisbane and now that Fremantle have a predominantly white gurnsey I can't see the AFL saying that a clash occurs there. I'm thinking that we also in the past have worn a clash against WCE too, but I don't think that's really a necessity.
