  1. I can see what you're saying and in essence I agree, a quality player should be able to do both. However, I think that there is actually a difference between how various mids play. At Melbourne we desperately need a pacy out-side mid who can act as a reciever out the back of a ruck contest or as a link up player through the midfield whilst the ball is coming off hb.
  2. I really don't see why people are getting so huffy puffy about this. I'm not saying that Valenti is actually heading off, all I'm saying is that a club is considering him as an option. Guess it's better to just keep your mouth shut on this site sometimes.
  3. You guys have to be kidding if you think there are no kick-in tactics used. Anyone who has ever played Australian Rules is able to tell you that various different kick-in options are practiced over the preseason. All we are seeing is a teams inability to carry out a set play.
  4. Wow mate. From your use of sarcasm I can tell you're a pretty intelligent bloke. Why would someone bother to make this up? I don't care if you don't believe me, just annoys me that you're Pretty much having a go at my integrity. I can promise you that this isn't a rumour.
  5. Heard a whisper that Sydney are looking at Valenti as he's a good stoppage player, and is suited to their style of play. Could be a possible trade?
  6. As I've said before, Robbo isn't past it!
  7. Personally I doubt that Robbo will be delisted, I know he has been frustrating at times this season, however delisting him would mean our most experienced forward would be gone. In regards to where our forward line is at, at this point in time I just can't see it happening.
  8. Could not agree more with the post! After showing encouraging signs from rounds 1-12ish, some supporters I believe began to over estimate the amount of improvement we had in fact shown, and began to think that it was happening at more rapid rate than what was to be expected. Undoubtedly we were to come across some substantial losses this year, and of course there may be many more to come. But to say that Bailey needs to be sacked at this point, and start pointing fingers at emerging players such as Watts is absolutley farcical. This rebuild will of course take time, and given the age of the team, level of experience, and the past 2 seasons, it is of course probable that one substantial loss could of course effect the mindset of players. I have full faith in Bailey and Co. and believe that whilst there are still substantial holes in our list, such as an outside-mid, and another focal point down forward, that we will in fact be able to take our group of players and challenge for a flag in future. It is amazing that the past month we have rapidly seen many supporters of Bailey turning into a mob ready to lynch him.
  9. Whilst we have been playing fairly good football I think it would be highly unlikely that we would make the top 8 next year. Whilst our ability to play Baileys game plan is increasing, and several of our youngesters and developing successfully, it would be unlikely that we would actually make the 8. Going on our current form though I would say we could be placed 10-9th. However a lot of this would depend upon injuries and the amount of 'senior' players that would be playing.
  10. Sorry that this isn't really a footy post as such, but I was wondering if someone could help me out. I was wondering if it was possible to secure a long room pass for todays game as I'm a MCC member, and don't believe they are all taken. If it is possible, how do I go about getting one?
  11. No Miller? PJ and Jamar to fight it out for second ruck option unless Meseen overtakes one
  12. will be talking to someone from the mfc on SEN after the match. Couldn't catch who, may have been Ryan someone? Hopefully someone can catch it as I'm at work and wont be able to hear it

  15. bloody fantastic! I just literally ran down the house waking everyone up to tell them....much to the delights of my parents lol. Maybe all those who bagged Jimmy and Co. can offer a bit of an apology?
  16. Can't wait for both the mcc/Mfc deal to be announced, and also for the major sponsor/s. Also have to agree Hamish could just well be the number one ticket holder.
  17. Though I have to admit I do agree with that, that's exactly the demographic and group Stynes and the current board are attempting to reach out to. Partially the reasoning behind Casey.
  18. Having been present at both Melbourne vs Hawthorn, and Cousins vs Collingwood, I believe that the question that needs to be asked is; Are we actually in a better position (football wise) than Richmond. Comparing our youth that is coming through in Blease, Bartram, Buckley, Martin, Bate, Jones, Wonna, Maric, and Watts; together with players such as PJ, Moloney, Sylvia (?), Chook, Miller, Bell (?), Garland, Warnock; and then the oldies and seasoned players such as Junior, Green, Bruce and Robbo, to that of Richmondfc is our flock actually in a better position for a tilt at the flag in the near future? Though both sides have only played one match each, this could be hard to tell and the topic is sure to draw a lot of criticism from many people on here, however I firmly believe that the intensity, fortitude and skill level displayed was substantially higher than what Richmond demonstrated during their match last night. The Tigers lacked intensity and made terrible skill errors. Though it's easily arguable that by losing when being up by 33 points, we too showed exactly the same attributes as the tigers, I really believe we showed a lot more than what Richmond did last night. Personally while our club may have off field issues that really do need resolving, our Football department is certainly not in the worst position of all AFL clubs. Throw in players such as Valenti and Spencer, and I think that our side really is starting to take the shape of a side that could become something special, and something that other clubs will fear in the (hopefully) near future.
  19. Sorry but Paul Johnson is not a foward. He never was and never shall be, even back when playing for Vic Metro U/16's he wasn't. Not bagging the big fella at all, just merely saying that he'll never truely be one, and would be wasted down foward.
  20. Hounestly there is a lot to gain out of this years NAB cup then many on here believe. The Melbournefc could not only benefit from the exposure, but the team itself could take a lot out of this weeks match. A win would not only assist in raising belief and moral around the club, but would also be greatly beneficial to the development of the side. This weeks match could almost be seen as a barometer for the coming Premiership season. No I'm not saying that by winning this week we shall win the Preimership, but a lot rides on this match, and a lot more than what some posters are suggesting.
  21. Being only a week away, does anyone believe we have an actual chance? Personally, I do believe we are a chance, and partially due to the Hawkas injury problems, I believe we could be up for a possible win. Or at least an entertaining hit out.
  22. Maybe not in the best 22 at the moment, but bloody close to it! His endevour and determination is second to none, and I love his grunt and ability to stand up in a tackle. This has been sorely missed at the MFC in recent times. It's a joke that some say having him on our list is a joke. I was VERY suprised he was not promoted. It's even funnier to think that some of the people paying out on Valenti would rather Juice played ahead of him. I know who'd I'd rather have!
  23. Great report mate! Looking forward to our NAB cup match and seeing how we play as a side. Just curious, did Sylvia play as a midfielder or foward?
