  1. It’s probably been mentioned, but if we lose McVee I’d be making all the calls through to Starcevich. Hell, we could absolutely use him even if JM stays.
  2. Here he is.
  3. Scouting notes: St Kevin's vs Haileybury (APS) TAIRON AH-MU (HAILEYBURY) The ruckman’s tap work was dominant and he was capable of following it up to win his own clearance. He took good marks not only when situated at full forward but around the ground too and capped off his performance with a goal. The Vic Country representative has a thumping right boot on him too.
  4. Knowing us, we'll win this by 100 and extend Goodwin another two years.
  5. It's not binary and you can't have one, without the other. I agree there are huge issues at the Club; from the current football department, to the playing list and right down to the lack of a training base. But Goodwin is inherently part of that problem - and a massive one at that.
  6. Knowing us, he'll walk away with a three year extension.
  7. The HUN reporting that this is just the scheduled monthly board meeting, and Goodwin was scheduled to present.
  8. Yes, very fair and salient point. We don't have sovereign wealth funds and oil sheiks throwing billions into the club.
  9. Which is why I said he's a (huge) "part of the problem".
  10. Most of the overseas sports are, it's a quintessential 'Australian' (almost AFL centric) hang-up that you should just preserve in the face of poor results. Multiple examples that we could sight on the overseas sporting front.
  11. Interesting view. I must say, heading into this season I was of the view that we should move Petracca and retain Oliver, as Oliver was likely of more benefit to us long-term; think output, age and role. But that has completely inverted this season. Oliver is miles off his best and I'm not sure he'll ever get back there. Petracca seems, at least to the outside viewer, bought back in to the Club and has been rather reasonable this season. He's been far closer to his best than that of Oliver. I'd be very surprised if Oliver wasn't in the red and blue next season though. His form has nosedived and the contract is likely to be far too much of an obstacle, especially with his current demonstrated output on gameday. I wouldn't necessarily be adverse to moving both of them on, but I suspect both will be with us next season.
  12. Astute point. RL is a widely underrated tactician. I'm sure this will receive the obligatory 'vomit' and 'laugh' reactions, but what I would give to have someone of his calibre in charge of our list...
  13. The Jackson trade won't happen, this year.
  14. Definitely - based on the balance of probabilities and noting the typical tendency of AFL players not signing by the half-way mark of their final contracted season, you'd say he's gone. Stranger things have happened, but this isn't looking great based on the optics. It would be disappointing to lose him - he's exactly the type of player we need more of.
  15. We also really need to start taking our second and third round picks into the draft and bringing in competitors who can add to our depth, or unearth and identify some draft targets in this range. We've previously done quite well at this, but I think we've come undone recently with being so intent on trading up the draft order and sending these selections out the door. We've picked a horrible time to bottom out with the looming Tasmanian concessions - very MFC of us.
  16. Well said; it's very inherent and observable within the wider supporter bases acceptance and adulation of the results in 2022 - 2022.
  17. East Fremantle
  18. Prior to yesterday* it was confirmed that Goodwin would categorically coach next year. There would be lateral movements in positions around him, plus a new head of football. *I'm not sure how yesterday's result has impacted this. IMV, Goodwin's position is absolutely and undeniably untenable.
  19. There are many cancerous problems at the club at the moment, but to take the view that 'nothing will change, so don't do anything' is just bizarre. Goodwin is a huge part of the problem and removing him (along with Richardson + coupled with Green's looming departure) is required.
  20. At least Goodwin is realllyyyyyyyyyyyy good friends with the playing group.
  21. Fantastic to watch another Goodwin special unfolding.
  22. On'ya Pick!
  23. The AFL's application of the reasonable person test is like no-other; where a non-infallible standard is treated as fallible. In no legal world is a reasonable person expected to foresee every possible outcome and take all precautions. Seemingly the AFL now endorses an approach where the ordinary person is not evaluated in the context of the situation in which the act occurs, but rather the AFL's ideal standard context.
