  1. Now that one made me LOL. The only thing that would have been better was if you'd called him Cam Maloney.
  2. Of course it's racist, but it's not systematic, nor is it your whole life.
  3. I suspect neither you nor Dunstall have been subject to systematic racism throughout your whole life. It's no coincidence that it's always the white, heterosexual males who say things like this.
  4. I think everything that has happened to Jack proves the existence of the Melbourne incompetence 2009-2014. I'd bet anything that the pressure put on him is a contributor to the foot getting to the point that it did - I wonder how forthcoming he felt he could be about the state of his body when he thought the club was relying on him? Not to mention the fact that we (apparently) didn't even know he was injured when we tried to pack him off to Richmond. This is the first time in his career that I think the club has done the right thing by the guy, that's why I personally am so pleased for him and glad that the club has handled this in this manner, finally. Let's hope it's not too little too late.
  5. Clubs that support their players and want to give them the best possible opportunity to succeed.
  6. Congrats on a great achievement. Had a great season last year and has got going again in recent weeks. Hopefully he can continue his recent good form. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-05-29/in-form-pedersen-reaches-50-games P.S. the boss vetoed my [Pedersen] spelling filter. You can all resume the usual practice of incorrectly spelling it with an 'o' in it.
  7. Honestly, you are the biggest stick in the mud. We all know there's a chance he'll struggle to get back, we don't need you to remind us, especially at a moment where he's just been given some good news and the club has backed him in. Timing of comments is everything and yours stinks.
  8. Simpson gets Buddy in a tackle, spins him around three times before finally falling off. No free, Buddy runs off and kicks a clean i50. The MFC supporter in me wanted to cry out in despair, that is EXACTLY the kind of thing that happens to us when we suck.
  9. "Out of bounds" on Young Dee's link. Pulled?
  10. Longer. This version of the forum turns 10 in October this year - as I recall "Vote for Pedro" was also a member on the previous iteration.
  11. Okay, but did you really need to bump a 9 year old thread to post this?
  12. Indeed. Mostly the issue has been guilt - didn't want to go on these junkets while the Mrs was stuck at home with the constant baby churn. Kids are a bit older now though so we have a bit more freedom. Anyhoo. Jesse Hogan eh?
  13. I live in Tasmania, not New Zealand. I've had three kids in that time, moved house three times, changed jobs three times including one complete career change. Haven't had the cash or the time to be gallivanting back and forth across Bass Strait. Tried to go last year (http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/36432-mcg-to-tullamarine-airport-travel-time/) but circumstances didn't go in my favour. Going to try and make it happen at least once a year from now on.
  14. It's definitely imminent. I can feel it too. Won't be too disappointed if it happens on the QB weekend when I'll be present. First time at the MCG since 2008. Can't wait.
  15. Same. Not what I'd have done, but I've long since stopped pretending I know more than the coaches. Happy to roll with it. It looks like a best attempt at like for like (with the ins being clear top 22 players), so I'm comfortable with the logic. It's still an upgrade on a team that had a good win. Really looking forward to this one now.
  16. You would surely not play Tyson unless you were 100% convinced of his fitness. Given the performance we've just come off, I don't see us as being in a position where we need to take any unnecessary risks. I get the impression that this ultra-conservative approach is what they've taken with Viney, based on his listing as "available" in the injury list as well as TDI's comment that Jetta said that he (Jetta) and Viney had been trained on a programme with a view to coming straight back in to the side. Take the ultra-conservative approach with Tyson and get him fit. Likewise Dawes - given that he's slow to begin with, I can't see the point in playing him if he's not able to run at 100%. In: Viney, Jetta Out: Jones, Bail
  17. I live in the Huon Valley, co-incidentally, and Lovell is an extremely common name around here (as well as in Tas in general, but particularly around here). My kids go to school with at least three unrelated Lovell families that I've come across so far. Grazman: Andy would've played for Glenorchy because he'd have had to if he wanted to get noticed. Kingborough is a smaller club that played in a lower tier competition back then, and all the Huon clubs (Huonville, Kermandie, Cygnet el al) are lower tier again. As far as I was aware the chopper Lovells were from the west coast of Tassie, but I could well be wrong on that.
  18. He reminds me of Aaron vandenBerg.
  19. TOG is one of my favourite stats. 85-90% is top shelf for a mid, 95% is brutal. Suggest Cross would have been sore but satisfied yesterday.
  20. If he'd kicked the goal, we wouldn't be having this conversation. It's easy to be critical when the result was less than ideal. I'd definitely prefer the disappointment of a bad set shot miss than the heart in mouth moment of a floater that gives the opposition every chance to pick it off. Off course there's the chance we'd have gotten away with it, but the set shot was the percentage play I think. Given the player in question, I'm surprised some would prefer that he took the more difficult kick. Of course it doesn't change the disappointment of the miss.
  21. It's a bit of a nonce award, really. Jesse is clearly one of the most promising talents in the game. We know it, everyone in the footy world knows it, but because on any given week someone else plays a slightly better game, he doesn't get nominated. The way the system works makes me not feel too sad about him missing out. I don't need a RS nomination to know how good he is, and I don't reckon he does either.
  22. Nathan Jones actually lead the clanger count, and that one was the worst anyone in the team made. VandenBerg made a couple of bad ones too. I agree that the selective micro-analysis of certain individual mistakes is getting really tiresome. I guess once some have decided that Toumpas is a dud, it's really hard to admit that he had a good game, even if it wasn't perfect. Other players have their errors overlooked because if their overall positive contribution to the game, but Toumpas doesn't get the same courtesy.
  23. TDI made a comment in the training thread that Viney and Jetta were being pounded on the track with a view to being brought straight back in. Take it with the usual grain of whatever, but I thought it was an interesting comment.
