Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination
Cheap Seats replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Definitely a question worth asking. Mind u Melksham dosent necessarily need to play off half back, he was picked up because we need good ball users, and they can be used anywhere -
Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination

I watched the cats v swans game and Mills was bloody good. Simple fact is if Hunt keeps his form up he'll definitely get a nod -
Jack Watts signs for three years (21/7/16)
Cheap Seats replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'mnot going to lie, i doubted jack would make it. Very happy to be proven wrong, and even happier he wants to stay. Let's hope he hasn't peaked and the best is yet to come -
I'm very confident Roos & co are all over this already. Youngest team feilded each week. Just to add... i think they've done very well managing the young kids this year as well.

Made some.errors tonight but i am still very excited about this kid. With more experience those errors will disappear from his game. Love how he takes the game on and breaks lines. Also puts his body on thr line. Love this kid

Great summary. I hope he can build with time but i can only swe him being a depth player at best.
-
3.7 in the second half Normally that would result a loss. Times have changed
-
Not a bad return game. Still has a massive issue with disposal, while he played well he still tends to panic kick long. Something to build on. I'd expect him to play next week, and hopefully he can build again

Its my bad as I probably didn't explain my point. But Weeds is unproven and under-developed. He needs a year or 2 to get himself AFL ready. I don't believe he will hold down a tall forward position in 2016 or 2017. The same applies for Hulett. We haven't seen them yet, its only a prediction Anyway I will watch with interest what they do for the next 8 rounds with our front 6. I don't believe we have a capable 2nd tall option on our list atm One interesting scenario would be Spencer/Gawn combo. Where one plays Tall Forward and the other rucks and vice versa. I'd love to know what is keeping Spencer out of the team? For those who follow Casey, is Spencer not a capable forward?

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Cheap Seats replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair points I just think it's nice to have it confirmed in general footy circles rather then an online forum. Lets be honest no FA is listening to a footy forum -
While nothing you've said is wrong i sm talking about short term forward options and the fact that we've had no one step up as the 2nd or 3rd (if u rate Watts as 2) tall forward. We've got kids in other spots who are developing now in the senior team. Who's stepping up in the forward line?
-
I could sit here and pick holes in the current team all day. As i siad just before it's about the forward 6
-
That is another discussion all together. I thin that's been due to a change in game style over improvement in thr forwards. Also if we win enough footy and convert more consistently there is an argument that defence would be irrelevant. The discussion is centeredaround no one has taken the opportunity this year as the 2nd tall. And there are no obvious immediate replacements imo
-
Lets not get caught up in tags and game styles. This is more about structure over position. The actual chf tag is irrelevant in modern footy. Lets take the crows as a good exapmle. Soldi talls and small combo. Talls - Tex, Jenkins & lynch My point is our forward line is one tall short of being really dangerous. Hence the discussion, shoukd we bring someone in for 2017 or is there someone on the list to fill that 2nd tall. I haven't seen anyone take that spot. FYI Hogan is 1, Watts is 3 we are missing another solid contributor
-
Sorry guys i csnt seem to edit My point is do we look at guys like Vickory as a short term solution? Also i know we are keen on Hurley who is better know as a AA back not a chf It's probably the most interesting position on out list atm
-
Howdy all. I thought I'd start a discussion on the above position. I don't believe we haven't had anyone capable of playing this position all year, and it has probably cost us a few games. Currently we have on our list - 5 key backman (in no particular order) - Dunn, Garland, Frost, & The Macs. Now compare this to our Forwards - Hogan, Pederson, Dawes, Watts, Weed & Hulett Out of all of those keys listed only really 1 or 2 are ready to play this position now (Dawes & Pederson). Wattsy is too small and a better 3rd Tall who floats and Hogan is our FF (we are not going to rob Peter to pay Paul here). We know the Frost experiment has failed at first attempt. Dawes we know can play this position but has also failed The Mac boys are possibilities but really we are clutching at straws there (Depending on matchups I wouldn't mind T Mac playing CHF from time to time, surely he can't be much worse then Dawes & Pedo) Weeds and Hutett I have not seen live but the reports are promising - but let's be realistic these two boys need development and probably won't be ready for another preseason or 2 I believe it's our coaching groups biggest challenge at the moment. Assume we lose no key personnel over the offseason its our No.1 priority IMO to get this position right for 2017. Can anyone else see any short term solutions, I can't.

I reckon they will try a few over the next few weeks to plan for next year. Good luck to whitey,

While we might not agree with what he says it dont mean it isn't wrong or that far from the truth. Anyway I'm not suggesting King is the be all end all but its nice to have our club talked about in a positive light and as a destination club. That is big IMO... -
Good luck to him.... i really hope he does well.

Did anyone see or hear Kings comments on SEN. Good signs for the Dees. (From where we've come from) In summary said Dees arent a basket case anymore. I'm actually starting to believe Hogan might stay. Either way he's a genuine gun he wont be able to lewve for cheap so it won't be a complete disaster -

Yep I have the paywall issue I did also note an interesting article on the Adelaide Addy re Trengove and Lachie Neale being mates from way back. -
I hope he gets his couple of games. Will obviously depend how we're travelling near end of season
-
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. He's been good first half of season but still very underwhelming over his career Im not upset about being wrong though
