  1. I agree GNF with your comments - but what are our strengths?? I personally don't see to many if any strengths on field - we can't win contested footy consistently, we don't pressure for 4 qtrs - our ball use, decision making and execution are shocking there is not much room for any strengths. On those facts as I see them all we can play is a high pressure game style and try create turn overs as our ball use will not allow us to play like a Geel, Syd etc The reason I disagree with you is beacuse I don't believe and Sunday again proved it for me again that a different direction will not automatically work - A new coahc won't bring us instat results. I don't care if it is Neeld or whoever who is coaching this club but a lot of hard work and development needs to be done as our Senior leaders don't have the leadership or willingness to will this side to a vicotory at the moment. Just to clairfy - Although Neeld has dug his own hole to an extent he really has a list in it's infancy of development - there are not many moves he can make in 2013 or anyone else to fix this now And I think your last point is way off the mark and pretty silly if you really believe it to be true - to keep it simple I think he uses some tactics from the pies but his game plan wouldn't be anywhere near identical. It can be argued that Neeld does not utilise our players strengths and has forced them to play a style that a lot can't handle, but I reckon I can safely assume our players strengths aren't that good either
  2. Yep weak mind set no doubt - I don't like potting players but L Dunn leads that pack So many example from the Freo game highlight your point biggestred - MFC players look for easy targets - they don't back their skill Look at the Cats, Freo, Swans they can hit a man in a zone who leads up and has a player on them - MFC players don't even look to use these blokes - how many times from kick ins or defense did MFC take the easy option and bomb to the Freo zones?? Thats not game plan, that is soft execution. Neeld is not blameless in this but with all the anger some other factor need to be pointed out I don't know how to communicate this without the video but our skill level and execution is Surburban footy level - then we drop our heads and the game is over
  3. GNF - you'd find this hard to believe but I don't disagree with a lot of what you have to say - but some statement I think are just silly as it is not as simple as 1 problem that is wrong with MFC Like the above one - A game plan as a style of play a team wishes to execute (in basic broad terms). When 18 pr22 players getting beaten in every 1 v 1 contest or if the team only truns up for 1 qtr please elobarate to me what you think the coaching staff can do to implement their game plan when every (bar probably a handfull) player on the ground is getting beaten in their positions We had no winners on any line of the ground (none in defese, mids or forwards could put their hands up and say we won our position) I think it is pretty shallow thinking if you believe the team is executing to Neelds game plan. I don't think they are executing a game plan at all. I'm pretty sure Neeld and others said at the start of the game in the Fox lead up you can't just bomb - All i saw all game was players boming the ball to position - are the players taking the [censored] or do they not listen to instructions??? WTF We played ok in the 3rd when Freo dropped their pressure - I can only assume there is too much work left to do by too few players I think Neeld needs to be blamed for the state of the team but at least acknowledge that the MFC played 1 qtr of comepetitive footy and it took them until the 3rd qtr to do it and that is what angers met he most Analyise the 3rd qtr game style to get an idea of the game plan - the rest is unacceptable rubbish
  4. Exactly appoint a new coach and we'll be as good as the Swans within two weeks Can't believe the club can't see that
  5. I'll voice for the majority of Demonland on this one... Our goals To not try onfield To kill off support for the club Recruit VFL standard talent Make confusing statements as a coach in the media Generally not try and blame everyone else on field Think i've covered most of it...
  6. No harm in re-evaluating projects mid term but I agree Rhino - either the board has to come out and support Neeld or they need to fire him. Don't like they are sitting on the fence - Support him or fire him, and hurry up about it This is the problem with this club - from the outside it looks like people are protecting themselves rather then doing right for the club... It doesn't fill me with confidence
  7. I'll take what you say on Face Value GNF - the club is falling apart - lets talk about some Footy issues that is J Watts Lets say Watts comes back after Queens Birthday - i think we play the dogs??? From the last 10ish rounds what is reasonable expectaion of Watt's output so WE the MFC want to offer him another contract? When is Jack Watts expected to deliver consistent performances? And let's not forget that Watts isn't being asked to carry the load or expectations of a CHB or CHF he is playing as a 3rd up tall across half back where blokes like Dermie would argue if you can't get a kick across half back you ain't much chop as a player
  8. Fair enough I was in the Southern stand and outnumbered 5 - 1 ratio and there were plenty of Bombers wankers clapping Watts when he went off - Seemed like an over reaction to what was a bronx cheer... Anyway continue your sky is falling debate
  9. Sorry Jaded do you seriously believe that? I was at that Game and i'd say apart from a few MFC people the majority were Essendon wankers that were cheering [censored] they are wankers Bombers supporters..........I hate Essendon with a passion So my question to you is......... Were you there did you see mass of MFC fans cheering or are you believing what you heard in the media?
  10. Apologies if I implied I was talking about yourself...... I was generalising about this site as people like to vent their frustration and the easy target is Neeld To answer your earlier questions No, & Undecided I'm undecided as I don't know how much is Neelds fault and I don't know how much due to inherited MFC problems. I'd love to be able to say yes it is simply all M Neeld doing - but I don't believe that. For example people identify recruiting as a key problem for 2013 - off the top of my head there were 14 changes and out of the 14 new faces 4 are identified as the root of our problems (Pedersen, Byrnes, Rodan & Gillies).... While I agree most likely 3 out of the 4 won't give us much no one mentions Neeld in 2013 also brought in Hogan, Dawes, M Jones, Terlich and other rookies (Viney, Toumpas etc) And the most disturbing issue about that list is - in general (N Jones, Garland and a few others off the top of my head probably can throw in Sylvia & Frawler) The players that look good have all been brought in by Neeld - I really don't know what to make of that - is that Neeld fault for not inspiring or did he inherit an over-rated, bruise free front runners? Apart form Moloney and Rivers leaving from our club, who has really left that was AFL standard? Martin - give me a break, kid had talent but has never been consistent. Is that the standard we want that passes at the MFC? Good some games, poor others? Maybe someone else can get more out of these players? Who knows but I don't envy anyone having yo make decisions at our footy club at the moment.... and that's why i'm not fussed to let the season play out so more information can be gathered and the right decisions be made
  11. What difference does it make? Not my decision to make - just like to discuss the situation PS: Not really sure why I care if that there is rational thought on here - the blind hate is much more entertaining
  12. There was definitely talk old dee Still think compensation is available
  13. Love your post jnrmac This club is bigger then Neeld, Sylvia or any other employee........ People move on but it's us supporters who stick by the club..... We want people at this club who give 100% and demand success Everyone else who is not red and blue through and through can [censored] orf
  14. Fair points DemonWA and I agree with what you've said that it will take us a couple years before we really start climbing up the ladder (in fact i've been saying that on other threads since round 2). It will also be the availability to get players on the park as well... How many games has Mitch playerd in his 2 years at the club? And if you add some quality in the middle a lot here would argue we can improve quickly. I agree with what you've said DeamonWA and I want to clarify that it is easy to take statements out of context and the Media and people on D'land will manipulate these statements to suit their own arguments
  15. .. Bit over the top?? Is it really unrealistic to expect players that have been at the club 8 + years to want to chase some success before the end of their careers? Especially in the position we are in as a club at the moment. We need to build success not just hope it happens overnight. Watts has done nothing for this club to date - Frawley has to be traded before he can walk in 2014 (so there is a lot of water to go under the bridge). The walkout you are talking about might want to add a few more decent players (ie Howe, Hogan, Clark) before making such dramatic statements. And I also have a player manager contact - you're mate should tell you rival clubs ask about players all the time, and managers take and talk contracts offers all the time I believe your heart is in the right place GNF - but all i read from you is scare mongering
  16. Surely it must be a mistake..... Nothing good happens to the Dees
  17. Poor effort by Jim..... haha Barrett haha
  18. Sorry to interrupt the love in.... or whatever is happening here :) Did anyone catch the coaches office this week where Neeld clarifies his comments re 3 - 5 years??? See here - http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2013-05-22/coaches-office-round-9 Anyway I thought it was interesting and just shows how the messages in the media can easily be taken out of context
  19. Just a question for Demonlanders Are people really surprised that other clubs inquire in players?? IMO the MFC needs to get in front of the game and be pro active signing players now or planning for their departures
  20. I'd be surprised if 16 other clubs were not inquiring as well AFL must be the last code in the world which hasn't embraced player movement and restriction of trade. AFL should be proud of it's loyalty from players but also needs to grow up in this sense. Don't get me wrong Sylvia will be a massive loss if he leaves - but the MFC must be pro active and not sit on it's hands..... We should be preparing for him to leave behind the scenes while convincing him to stay in public. Your kidding yourself if you don't think this is normal AFL process
  21. I strongly agree with what you say Mad Melb - it was the point i was trying to get across before getting sidetracked by stiue..... You\ve summed my argument up nicely I wil add to it and say I think that Melb do not score from the counterattacks and can not counter attack. The discussion on AFL 360 with Rocket and Eade was that the good temas at the moment counterattack really well - Geelong, Syd, Hawks, Freo What i've been trying to say is that because of our poor skills and as Bonkers has been touching on fitness - our club has been unable to effictievly counterattack. MN has a lot of work to do Also before people start taking blind pot shots - Bomber indicated that in the early 00\s (dont' remember which year he took over) his main focus for the Cats when he started was defense... The attacking footy came with development of the list.... something people could take some heart from
  22. Haha clearly your argument is greater then mine - i concede
  23. Although that is correct I think you forget or neglect to mention Jackson was talking about the structure and reporting of the FD - not the perfomance. Thats the way I understood it from what Jackson said in interviews, am happy to be corrected I don't believe for a second Neeld isn't on notice though - everyone at the club should be.
  24. I was commenting on your defensive 50 rebound stat and how we are poor at clearing it when it comes in - not [censored] how it gets in there FFS you're a waste of time you can't even argue in context
  25. Y Not sure if you bother reading anything else but your own posts but I thought I'd highlighted that we don't win the ball pretty early on in this thread Explain to me how I am talking about first hands on the footy when referring to counter attack or rebound footy?? You need to lose the ball in the first place to counter attack or rebound, don't tell me your that stupid you can't tell the difference??? Also how about highlighting how [censored] poor your defensive rebound stat is by highlighting how we don't score from rebound or counter attack. Don't reply to my posts muppet - your a waste of time
