If we’ve dropped Tomlinson and then Petty plays forward then the selection committee are as dumb as dog****. It’s been proven time and time again that we need the three tall defenders for our structure to work. We’ve played our best football over the last three years that way and struggled when it’s just been May and Lever. Petty has to play back. Petty was having a poor year both up forward and in defense and should’ve been dropped prior to injury. On form this year, Tomlinson has been better and had a ripper against the Pies. Bringing in an underdone player who was in poor form and dropping a fit player who was in form is poor selection. Petty is better, but not right now. Would’ve liked to see Bowey in again too. He was killing it before the concussion. Hopefully he showed good form in the VFL and gets promoted again. Although form apparently doesn’t matter to our selection committee…

Ah my bad. The preview ended at Reiwoldt and I didn’t click the Twitter link to expand further! Still I expected him to be higher than 51%. The idea that Naughton and Daniher are better kicks for goal than him is mind boggling. Petracca down at 28% is sad. It appears nothing has changed this year regarding his poor accuracy. He’d be the undisputed best player in the league if he could nail more of his shots!

Interesting that as the second highest scoring team with the third highest accuracy we somehow don't have a single player in that top group well up over the 60 mark... I expected to see Fritsch in there. We need to get our accuracy back on track as the last 3 weeks have been poor. The Collingwood match was essentially a 40 point win that we botched and made tougher than it needed to be.

Just like his father. Jeff was a brilliant high leaping athletic ruckman. The change to the centre bounce ruck rules really removed one of his greatest assets in his huge leap. If Kalani winds up even close to player Jeff was then we’ve got our ruck sorted for after Gawn and Grundy are long gone.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition

Cmon Giants put these pretenders to the sword and help improve our draft picks please! -
Dangerfield out obviously helps us. Win the contest battle and you beat Geelong. Their previously strong defense has dropped right off this year, currently ranked 15th. Put their backline under pressure with repeat entries and it’s game set match. We’ll win next week.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Lord Travis replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seems like a horrible draft this year due to the amount of potential top 20 players tied to academy and other bids. Also a few Tassie boys, which clubs will be hesitant to draft high due to the AFL flipping the bill to send them down to the new Tassie team in a few years. If that predicted top 20 a few posts back is roughly accurate, that's 7 out of the first 20 players compromised in a way. Trading up to get Reid or someone else we've got our eye on is probably the right tactic, or potentially trading out of this years draft to get a swag of first rounders for next years draft if there's less bid related players. Thoughts? -
That’s a bummer. He was probably the best key forward available and is a real talent. If he wasn’t playing in a rubbish team he’s be Coleman material.

The disposal efficiency measurement is interesting. Langdon has a higher disposal efficiency than ANB, however ANB is bang on AFL average. ANB also has a higher disposal efficiency than Kozzie! I would consider Kozzie a far more skilled player, but according to the stats ANB is more skilful. It's not the best stat to use to measure a lot of players. For ANB's role, I'd suggest pressure acts, tackles, and score involvements are key measurements. For those stats, from what I can find he's top 5 in each category at the club again this season. He's clearly having a decent impact and will not be dropped anytime soon. In fact, going by impact stats, he's borderline top 10 at the club this year. Will be interesting to see how high he finishes in the BnF...

Well done to Kade. He's had to wait for opportunity and he's grabbed it this season and proved he belongs at AFL level. Just needs to straighten his radar and start nailing his shots like earlier this season!

Brisbane Pair Stand Down Amid Poor Form
Lord Travis replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Doesn’t reflect well on their selection committee if players have to drop themselves for poor form. -
Talk of dropping Neal-Bullen is always a good laugh. He’s one of the first picked by the coaches every week because he fronts up and does the thankless hard stuff that the general footballer watcher doesn’t appreciate because it’s not flashy etc. He was our 8th best overall rated player on the weekend. He was rated the best player on the ground overall defensively. We beat Collingwood because we had applied immense pressure on the ball carrier. Nibbler had 26 pressure acts, the most of anyone on the ground with Viney second at 24. Nibbler had 6 effective tackles, third behind Viney and Trac. He had 5 tackles inside 50, the most of any player on the ground. He was a key part of our victory and I’d go as far as saying if he didn’t play we would have lost that match. What he brings in pressure and running to link up or block space is immense, and as long as he keeps fronting up and busting his gut he will rightly never be dropped.

Was shown in the coaches box on broadcast during the game. He ran laps of the MCG after the game too. Goodwin said in his after match press conference that he’ll be right to play next match.
-
Looked flat?! They nearly overran us with seconds to go!
-
Kozzie has been rubbish for weeks. His constant mark of the year attempts cost the team multiple goals every week. It’s a real problem and the coaching staff need to get to work with him or send him to the VFL to find form. Playing a man down today with him out there. So frustrating as he can be a match winner and has the potential to be one of the best players in the league.
-
What the hell has happened to our kicking?!
-
Dominated the game but can’t score. Game over.
-
Kozzie need to stop flying for low percentage screamers and do a job as a crumbed. It’s beyond pathetic at this point. Coaches should consider dropping him if he doesn’t start playing for the team.
-
Their game style is just superior. It’s going to be a long day and season watching them win
-
2017 was the last time we’ve beat the Pies at the MCG. We owe them today. Get it done Dees!
-
Horrendous umpiring and atrocious skill level tonight. There’s been some seriously poor games recently. This may be the worst year of footy I can remember actually in terms of game quality. Such poor skill level and the umpiring gets worse by the week.
-
Blues just can’t kick straight. Lack of scoreboard pressure and wasting their opportunities meant Bombers eventually got passed them and kicked away. Blues are better than 14th on the ladder suggests. They’re completely average, but if the could kick straighter for goal they’d be 8-12th on the ladder instead.
-
Cmon tigers, put Freo away and help out those draft picks of ours!

Love Butters. Best player in the comp this year. Very jealous of Ports young mids. Butters, Rozee and Horne-Francis are all explosive and hit the scoreboard. Hoping Sparrow can become a similar player as he’s got the physical attributes to do so, just needs it all the click at once. Showed promise the last few weeks.
