  1. Shouldn't that be 7-0?
  2. Jurrah picked up a slight injury just before the break; he should be fine.
  3. No, you just whetted our appetites.
  4. The only thing here that deserves some thought is that some people here think that taking Bradshaw deserved some thought.
  5. Why many are unhappy that Newton has been picked up as a rookie has little to do with him being picked up as a rookie; it is more to do with him having a contract in the first place. Most of us understand and appreciate that the MFC has the integity to enter into an agreement and be true to their word.
  6. I still think that we can elevate two rookies because of the two veterans. I have tried to find out, but, as always, the AFL is not forthcoming with any real information. The best I could find was some sort of explanation on the afl site that was clearly out of date; so I am none the wiser.
  7. It is my belief that we can elevate two rookies without the need for a long term injury; one for each veteran that we have on the main list.
  8. It's just like the National Draft where you have to nominate the promoted rookies and the AFL assigns them to your picks starting from the last theoratical one that you have and then moves forward for as many picks as nescessary. In the Rookie draft you have to nominate the International rookies and scholarship playes that you are going to take, the AFl then allocates them to your last pick and then moves forward as nescessary.
  9. Maric at 21?
  10. This is simply not good enough. Like the vast majority here, I don't attend training. That does not mean that I do not read all of the threads from the posters here and on 'ology that do attend, even though I know that they are written by people wearing rose coloured glasses. Schwabby had better get onto this really quickly; never [censored] in your own nest! On a seperate matter, how is the construction going at Casey?
  11. Rumblings are not necessarily a bad thing. Greg Denham has been pretty bullish about us for the last twelve months or so. It may well be that he merely wants to spruik about us having a real crack from now on.
  12. That would be a real problem, in that it implies an inappropriate level on ineptitude or clumsiness for an AFL footballer.
  13. Did someone mention semantics? Misfortune is just that. So long as the injury does not leave an underlying weekness, it cannot be claimed that Strauss is injury prone. A small crack in a wrist bone does not a career end.
  14. I read that he has grown 8cm in a very short time. This sort of thing can lead to loosness in the joints. Having said that, I don't think it is really such a big issue; medical science is pretty good at knee reconstructions these days. I would expect the knee to be stronger post reconstruction, particularly as I understand it was not a serious structural issue.
  15. 'Tis a great day to be already on the turps as well!
  16. 'Tis a great day to be a Demon; I agree with you completely, and still think Skully is the better player.
  17. Gawn - 206, 207, 208 ... The way this kid is going he will be 3 metres tall by round 1 2010.
  18. The priority pick is gone and will not return in the short to medium term. Vlad has spoken.
  19. If we did not move Newton and Meeson onto the rookie list, we would have pick 6 and pick 22? in the rookie draft. With the weakening of the draft owing to it being an 8 month eligability window instead of the normal 12, everything has moved up. Using picks 34 and 50 enables us to gazzump Gold Coast and get the two picks in before them. This is a very smart thing to do and I expect all of the other clubs will follow our lead and leave Gold Coast with the dregs. I heard Tim Harrington on SEN last night being interviewed about the changes to the list - He explained that it is as much about positioning for the next couple of years where the drafts are heavily compromised. The AFL has changed the draft rules and while you must still delist three players from the primary list, they can be replaced from the draft or by promoted rookies. By loading up the rookie list with mature players it enables us to evaluate our third pick, which may welll be in the sixties, against the rookie player and going with what we consider the better option. This is just the club reading and understanding the rules and acting accordingly; move on.
  20. Whoa there tiger! We are the Popular Front for the Liberation of Judea and accept no imposters!!
  21. Started WW1 by allowing himself to be shot dead; a bit unfair, surely. (I assume that there is not a band named Gavrilo Princip)
  22. As I understand it, from what I heard the Hawks list manager say the other day, Thorp had requested a trade and that Hawthorn had agreed that they would trade him or cut him loose. As the trade did not happen, they cut him loose as per their agreement. There are still many things unanswered - Highly rated draft pick, and Hawthorn are quite prepared to let him go for nothing. What pressured them into this and how much of that pressure resulted from Thorp himself? It has been stated many times that he has an ego the size of a planet. Does the fact that no club would trade even a stale packet of crisps for him bring him sufficiently down to earth. What are the state of his injuries? Surely the club would know this. Hawthorn have a track ecord of not revealing all medical problems to potential suitors, but as they no longer have any interest in Thorp, I expect that they will be totally forthcoming with all medical details. I really don't know. There are a few too many alarm bells for me, but the club will know far more about the situation. If we take, Thorp, I will trust the club, but I would not be surprised if we made the sign of the cross and moved on.
  23. Denis is a stickler for accuracy; he would say 'centimetre perfect'.
  24. Whilst I agree with RR that this is an excercise in semantics, what's wrong with that. Liam is already a star for MFC based purely on the journey that has undertaken to be here and the magnetism that he brings with his performances thus far, both for Casey and MFC. The articles that have been written and televised about his journey have been many and varied, The saga on demonland and demonology with regards to his first MFC jumper, culminating with the Long Journey theme to the Women of Melbourne function was incredible. His story is now known to a wide audience and makes people have an interest in MFC that they would not otherwise have. On the football side, he has shown nothing to indicate anything except excellence. Sure, longevity in the game is the true test of a footballer's ability, and I expect that he will achieve that. I, for one, cannot wait until his football exploits match his journey and he becomes a superstar. I have not met Liam, but I have spoken to people who have and I expect that he will remain humble no matter what his expoloits, the mark of a true champion.
