A few comments on changes: Brayshaw will be a definite in if his wisdom teeth extraction is all healed. If you we dropping players for first half failures then Jones would be on the block. Noticeable poor disposals early. (But he won't be) Kick in the pants for Lewis and his lack of discipline. He stopped being a liability when we went for a loose man behind the ball. Dont think he will be dropped, though. We should consider Frost if we need another tall defender - we do NOT want to have Lever playing 1:1 with a tall forward. Lever also needs to settle with his exit kicks - banging the ball out to a 3:1 on the wing, then having it come straight back in for a goal is not a good look. Salem looked really good until he was smashed. Should have been taken off and a North Melbourne style medical report prepared for the coroner. Thought Maynard did OK. Hannan was quiet, but is an excellent kick at goal. In summary: Brayshaw in, Frost in (if needed), Tyson a maybe. Bugg would also be close (for Hannan?). Potential outs: Lets see how they pulled up. Not sure we will chop and change for the sake of it - I think Goodie likes to give them a run at it.

Jones had a stinker in the first half. Later got back into it a bit. Our ability to rebound from our back half was atrocious. Our kick outs were easily read, and we were outmarked over and over again. Our half forwards seemed out of position and we therefore had to bomb into the 50 - where we were outmarked consistently. We let then get outside and didn’t chase back defensively back hard enough. The first quarter was a drag race. The second a disgrace. We did not have the polish to get home in the end. Didnt deserve 4 points. Too many passengers in the first half. Lots of Love for Clarry and Trac, Maxxy owned the middle. Salem was good until smashed. Should have gone straight off.

That was 4 points Essendon can put in the medicine cabinet.

Think of the pressure to perform on Wags and Maynard. A hungry queue waiting behind them. Can only lead to good things...

Rewatch the start of the 4th quarter. Max to Oliver who gets caught with the ball twice in a row. Defensive tap straight to Billings who got in front of Oliver and Saints goal. This after one clean Max-Clarry combo and exit. Max won hands down, but perhaps we were too predictable and the opposition played to that.
