This needs to be said again and again.. The PLAYERS aren't the overiding problem. The list is either decried as "talented" .. capable etc etc. For mine overall its inflated and overated but there is genuine talent, ability and potential. The analogy to me is Chess. Those pieces only do the bidding of the person playing. The counterpart in football are the coaches. The problems wont be fixed unless some major changes are made as logically, don't make those changes and the ONLY outcome has to be pretty much more of same/similar. We need DIFFERENT.

@speed demon Thanks for cutting through the spin. So many questions are raised by this but the important thing is the lad gets the best treatment and a full recovery. Footy concerns are a far off concern.

I'd counter that players don't come to clubs for the fans. They come for opportunity, for money etc etc. It's all down to the playing group and coaching. Whether you,I , they or anyone does or doesn't attend won't affect the outcomes. They get paid squillions... it's up to them.

Id rather we didnt.... we can judge it now. Not just me... a lot of ppl ...from.various vantage points are calling time. If we're in this same position next year....we're well and truly stuffed. Nothing will change if nothing changes.

Id actually rate Laurie higher than Billings..... i suspect Laurie doesnt yet feels he belongs out there... but his disposals are generally considered. Not writing him off just yet.

You think.they oughta get a free pass? Something people may wish to ponder. You can change the ingredients ...indeed the recipe but if the cooks are the same cooks youll only get the same treatment and effectively same style of offerings. Praha ..in all seriousness hasnt this been what he's supposed to have been doing all along ? All a bit....fool me once shame on you, fool me twice ..... If there were ever a time to play meat and 3 veg accountable footy.... now might be it. That said it's a bit like the cast has been hit with a "bug" and the understudies need to step up. Just set the tasks at 'possible' and see what some have... Cant be much worse. As to Goody.... tic toc surely ?

My grave concern is the spiralling capitulations are only the beginning. Our list is pretty shot to pieces atm. We're looking at No Trac, No Lever, an under par May, Viney and Oliver. Fritta seems to pick and choose. Roo needs to be helped as he'll get manoevered out of tge game. About a dozen others who are not of this caliber...and also playing magoo quality footy... and a cpl who i just have no idea why they're playing at all. Other than the obvious.... we're running short . Very few capable of flying the flag. Right at this current juncture we are at the edge of an abyss. Any one who thinks this season isnt already in the bin is in for a torrid few months. A fighter can take only so much before the canvas is his home. The situation im affraid will only get worse before any show of improving.....and that's an IF !! This is painful to watch, can only imagine what it must be like for some playing.

I reckon it could be argued it actually matters the MOST who's coaching when the cupboard's a tad bare. You might need to get inventive and recast the runes. Now if this is done it invariably goes one of two ways. The fall back position is to understand what IS working, if anything and then redesign around this. Almost the Footy version of Flight of the Phoenix. The truly baffling thing for me is Goodwin was actually quite maverick, inventive and left field in his earlier days. Simon.... go find that bloke.

Actually no. Literally his job is to COACH . Hence the title. His job is to prepare a competitive team at an elite level with the goal of playing finals and winning flags. That LITERALLY is his job. Any thing else is fluff. Its about the Walk, not the Talk.

We were a very VERY different club then. Checker, Smithy , Barassi... and the list goes on. The ethos ....chalk and cheese.
