Time to go Goody?
A number of points to consider in and among all of that. Yes we love an excuse.. 100% Are we a top team ?? Well not currently for sure but are there the inherent attributes that might suppose we ought to be ???? I think there are. Are these organised in the best manner ? I think the only available answer is no. Would another coach/dept have us more successful?? That's the $64 q I always come back to the analogy of recipes, ingredients and chefs. Different outcomes from same ingredients. If you then get still better ingredients.. an even better result.

Time to go Goody?
This may or may not be a shared metric. I'm not particularly interested in a team who's aspirations are just to turn up and play. By association I'm not going to be impressed much by a football dept that turns out a team who are only there or abouts. We play a very mediocre game of footy. Our football dept put out a very mediocre team. That's not to say there isn't talent nor that there aren't individuals of high ability.... but as a team soggy wheatbix seems more exciting on many gamedays. There seems to be a big question about that wonders whether the game has gone past us. What worked briefly and shone no longer gels and is dull. All this goes to how we go about things and by the current litmus we are more and more found wanting. Can the powers that be find that shine, sycronicity, verve and cohesion that had us up and about ? What do you accept as a pass ?? To be only participants or premiership contenders ? The game by its nature is highly competitive. The idea is to win and by winning prevail at the big dance. In a very binary view if you're not winning, you're losing. Do you want to be winners, or losers 🤔 Is Goodwin capable of getting us winning and triumphant ? If the answer to that is no, then logically you need someone else. It's not about is he OK as a coach. It's can he furbish success. I'm not seeing how that's achieved. Too much of our game is faulty. That's not accidental, not merely happenstance, that's actually been 'achieved' by design. We need better designs and more effective designers. Players aren't particularly told to go out and make it up as you go along , though to a novice spectator you may be forgiven for that takeaway. No they are coached in style and method. I'd rather see something different occur on game days, something delivered by a different coach. That's why for me Simon's tenure needs to end, so we can essentially start over. Go Dees

Last week's game against the Sqawkers suggests otherwise ( i.e. that they won't simply fall apart ) Just our luck that the Weagles might want to make this a statement game....

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
My demeanour toward the Dees is not of misery. It's just a realistic (to me) appraisal of where we are. We aren't where we could/should be I'll be happily surprised by a win. I just have a sense that unless we are in ascendancy at 3/4 ( and by decent margin) then I think our Achilles Heel will trip us up...again. We're the walkabout warriors.. play 3 qtrs then go missing. That's not just my impression... that's fact. The "Quarters" thread bears this view out. Go Dees

That's rather confronting.- PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
I can only applaud the optimism of some. I was suspicious in earlier games we were afforded the status of favourites as we are again. I'm not convinced that's valid. Yes we won against a Tiger side that were still showing signs of life and out gunned us 4 goals to 1in the last. And there it is again our puesdo Achilles heel.. again just ONE goalin the final term. Sorry but that's pathetic. Eagles still managed 4 going down to a marauding Hawthorn.. I sense some have us already triumphant , I think there's still much to do before we can consider ourselves a properly competitive outfit. We had some poor performances in the past against this lot. On paper I think we ought to win, if only by a paltry distance. On grass.... We need to be on the ball.... npi.- Time to go Goody?
Whilst some would suggest I'm alarmist and biased I will happily put it in pixels that there's a snow storm's chance in hell we'll make the finals. I reckon we'll pretty much end up right where we are which is pretty much where we said goodbye to 24. Miracles can happen. Just somewhat unlikely. The upcoming run won't help anyone's cause ( other than dare I say Essendon) Personally I would have liked to have seen our club show better understanding and perspective as well as being a bit more brutally pragmatic and let go of Goodwin eos 23. The writing was on the wall. It's still there.. This is nothing about any personal agenda or imagined animosities. It is simply about getting the best results for the club. 2 finals exits in quick fashion... followed by two " nothing-ish " finishes in subsequent seasons ( im including this year's ) hardly bodes well for another tilt anytime soon. It paints more of a picture of frittering away talent and opportunities. Some it would seem would carry on in this direction ad infinitum. At some point you have to say this isn't working and something needs to change. An unfortunate reality is we have a President who exhibits an air of 'caretakership' and a gaping hole where a CEO ought to be. Despite my desire for things to be otherwise I can see nothing happening until the back office sorts itself out. In the meantime the Good Ship Goodwin sails on rediscovering what a 3 Hour Cruise is all about. I hope we click... hope we win, hope to play finals, hope to snag another Flag Hope can be a dangerous thing, once uttered an inmate. Reality suggests a long cold winter.- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Now I'm not for one moment particularly comparing Langers to a certain bloke from Golden Square... but he too wasn't written up as the fastest out of the blocks... but he went ok 👍 👌 I like the way this kid THINKS with the ball. Winning it is one thing... doing something useful with it.... gold. Clarry could learn a thing or two... just sayin'- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

I genuinely find it quite bewildering that some are poised to put this lad in the nqwwthw* basket (*not quite what we thought he was ) Gobsmacked really.. he's all but half a dozen games into a career. He's not the jack rabbit some thought he might be. Bin him.... He's got good footy nouse and by God we need more of that. To my minds eye he's just working himself into the AFL rhythm and to be fair doing it in our team is a big ask. He will be a gem. More games, another preseason. That's not to say he won't put in some ripper games in 25... but ppl.... a little patience perhaps.- Time to go easy on Fritsch
Quite simply ... it's 'between the ears' stuff !! Only one person can fix that One might go as far as to say he's really only cheating himself. Put the extra effort in.... extra results. Win win... means more wins. This game is really about small percentage.. I.e the difference between trying....and really trying. Memo to all and sundry... Gday Tim. Not sure how or why the Gods brought me here but stay strong, fight the fight ; get the word out. It's very courageous of you share your plight. Nearly lost my lovely wife to the dreaded C 8 years ago. I'm thankful for every day since. With your strength and attitude I wish you all the resultant success. You're an inspiration 👍- Time to go easy on Fritsch

Yesterday... surprising, encouraging and needed. Certainly not the outcome expected nor warranted on paper. Have a bit more ( I.e. marginally some lol ) optimism for Thursday. Might be a cracker of a game. Not sure you'd change much. You would think a bit unlucky to have to go down after a win. Tiges will still think they're a very good chance (well so do I ) . Who pulls up better might be the thing.- Time to go Goody?
