In all seriousness all we have really seen is a reshuffling of the deckchairs. It look better, maybe even affords a better view, but the Titanic isnt in clear waters yet. In a real way, and in a results way , next season really should be a season where we start looking like a footy team. If we're buying into the notion of "lets all feel good and disregard the scoreboard" then some might be positively glowing as a result of this year. At best i'd describe it as treading water, but in a much style of arm flapping !! I expected more from this season. Its just repackaged rubbish in the main, with some nice shiny bits on the box. Thats all

If he is going to a team that might go deep into the finals ...say Geelong (as thats my mail ) and not staying with us well he cant really do much under the present rules. The club is planning SPR..We know full well he's plssing off. PJ said as much yesterday. We hold no illusions. A lot of things may pass behind closed doors. What you SEE is for public consumption. No one can come out and blatantly say X Y or Z just yet as its "against the rules" the Joke that they are.

A lot of ppl need to go and buy the book "Roos speak for Dummies" I Say this not as chastising , nor big-headedness but hopefully as thought provoking. PR often says things in a way to conceal the real thinkings behind the utterance. In reality there are probably about 4-5 players that would have a .001% chance of getting traded. What Roos is saying is..."Show us your players, we'll show you ours" i.e Lets see what anyone else is prepared to put up. If yo were to be too super selective from the get go you will not entice anyone into your parlour. This says "Melbourne is open for business" but all things have prices and some tags would be set very high making a deal next to impossible but we need to loosen the grip of other clubs to their players. You need to bait the trap.

And yet BRFE we're still 17th !! Im not actually convinced that we HAVE improved a great deal (yet ) What we have as an upside is probably greater access to the potential to ACTUALLY improve. The overseeing and the conduit to real betterment probably now exist where they didn't. I expect to see tangible improvement next season via a better list, one that can begin to engage the plan and bring it to reality. You win or lose by the scoreboard. Again, we're still 17th.
