An interesting take on it. I do agree if you weren't on the park you won't have the same bond. Some might suggest that for some that might make the hunger stronger but I'd be inclined to also think , if were I, what are the chances of back to back etc. That's very difficult. I think you can become a bit of an outsider after this sort of thing

Might depend what they need to get what they want in other trades.

also...with any exchange of whatever...you might get change..there might be additional players or picks.. So many permutations. and yet some see it as just this for that. Its about the big picture....also called the list.

You don't judge a single trade in isolation. You look at the whole trade period. I.e did you achieve your goals. If so ✓

An easy way to deal with such things is to NEVER believe ANYTHING said for public consumption. Football isn't known for the 'truth"

I more concerned with me seeing a flag, the club seeing flags, than Jesse. He can look after himself.

At the same time pragmatism must surely enter this fray. There is much to do during the circus visit and you dont want to finesse it tooo much for fear of missing a bus or two. I have every faith we'll get whats reasonable.. More the point I have faith we'll get the players we're targeting. Thats all that really matters...the numbers attached to picks is all but irrelevant to us

Thought Jones handled himself quite well. Between a rock and a hard place as to how to answer that but he played a deft bat imho. Really...what else was he going to say. Well done Chunk.

Love it when the last train to Clarkesville suddenly becomes the 5.15 to Upfield !! I commend that discussion has embraced the wotif factor but surely the only scenario that holds any water is that he goes back to the western coast . Otherwise...why is he leaving ? Granted ....you can be mercenary anywhere but I truly dont think thats his motive so much as the icing on an idea he's harboured for some time. meanwhile...Flinders St !!! all change

The "Bell" factor is actually quite interesting. It will change things a bit. How ? who knows ,only he will bring a different agenda most likely to his clubs's table.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
A 3rd will probably do it. There's the trap of many always referencing that draft # . Means nothing after they're on a list. Only as good as last season/ last game etc. He must be seen as a bit of a punt/project. If he comes good and improves and garners consistency. Bargain. If not...no biggee . I thought at the time ( years back ) he had a bit of verve. Maybe club wants to tap into that. A roll of the dice.

well put I somehow sense you may be right about the negotiating...i.e...its the periphery perhaps. I also get a feeling for us to maximise the benefits of value here the deal will be convoluted. It will to a degree be about how other clubs ( not us ) value certain picks and combos. If Jesse goes I believe the club is quite sure it has in mind the player/s( at least the types ) it wants in return.

Very different situations here but I see your point in no-one saying anything....in a fashion. The club have already said he's a required player...or some such similar. Imho no one's going to really say much til they have to. Officially trades haven't started ( lol ) . As I said to another... All we are seeing is everybody's dance moves. That said some are pretty sure who's going home with who !! The club needs to control the public narrative ...yes. Not thinking they're in charge in the back room.

If you had no intention of going anywhere ( at least at the moment ) ...would you not say just that. This wouldnt harm his negotiating position one iota.He doesnt have to sign another Dees contract for a while. Say youre playing at Melb in 2019...let your efforts and such drive your value. or...if you really are open to a move...Say Nothing. Lets the bidding begin If youve ALREADY decided on a change of scenery then for mine you still dont really need to say anything...just let your manager earn his money. I think hes doing just that What has made him suddenly ( probably not ) open to a move ? There would be in my eye absolutely no surprise in a giant offer from Freo. I very much doubt Melb would/should pay what Freo are prepared to. If say freo are offering silly money over 5 years...( or more ) then we could well be talking of a difference of 2-1/2 Million dollars. Thats got to be a serious attention grabber.

Not really DD. I would have thought that direction would have been signalled much earlier. Just my thinking granted.
