Mick Malthouse, Paul Roos, Garry Lyon on Jim Stynes' contact list
beelzebub replied to DemonOX's topic in Melbourne Demons
Port are a basket case... Primus all but said this recently . He refered to the "culture' at Port and the inherent problems. Keep in mind simply having one a premiership doesnt guarantee it is a lay down to replicate elsewhere. But its a beginning and fair enough I see timiing working against us ( or anyone ) whos after Mouse. He'l lbe tied up til Grand Final after parties !! Roos might be an easier one to court -

theres a good question there or two. Ive paired him for the reason that I beleive this is the way forward. Not just for our club but the game in general. The game as its evolving is requiring so much more in terms of the FD's. Whilst it wasnt always the success in the past its become much more prevalent over the last few years. Viney Hasnt coached at teh top level yet. I see the pairing of old cluey mind with a solid footy minded and successful ( at other levels ) newbie is , well , a form of insurance. The older wiser one can not only be a game sounding board but a mentor in general as they will know exactly what the junior partner is experiencing. Collingwood are enhancing their FD . Its their preference to keep Mick if they can for this very reason.. To maintain the brains trust and to help the newbie. Essendon actually used this with Sheeds and his undercharges...it was a defacto verison of the older/younger, they just didnt plaster it up on the walls for al lto see, as is the want now. I m all for someone who can time after time...and such consistency is imperitive, muster his charges to give their all, and then some. Quite simply , on the evidence at hand Bailey cant. thats where Im coming from. Hes respected at Melbourne...otherwise why'd we go after him -
What do you want to see from the players this week?
beelzebub replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
We need to see these : Heart Passion Anger Ownership of the contest Grit- Determination 2nd, 3rd. 4th eforts sacrifice and certainly not least Honour and Pride in wearing the Red and Blue Nothing Less will be accepted any more -
maybe it should ? Maybe the whole sanitizing process serves nothing but to cotton wool the players from an entitled critic base...i.e Its supporters and the watching populace in general. A possibility ?

That neither Tackling nor disposals are every qualified butr simply quantified really questions their relevance. However I suppose its better to have more tackles rather than less. It bemuses me ( in reality ,sickens me ) to understand that without certain players on field others cant fill the breach. These are basic football skills. Even when a lot of the game isnt going your way youre suppose to fall back on these basics; run, tackle, harass etc if anything more so than if youre winning. But we dont.., apparently no one knows how

i tend to agree.. what purpose do they really serve.. We know theyd be rather more scathing behind doors so why any semblance of camouflage.? Who are they writing for ? maybe its their own punishment....now... go write 200 lines about nothing...you naughty coach you !!

I know exactly what you meant RR. ...others can read too

Ive no problem with Malthouse or Roos, but given the number of clubs who'll be chasing them I m not sure theyd be chasing us. Many might forget DL was also an assisatant to MM...he knows that game too We went for him once...not without good reason , imho. But hes but one option -
oh deary me RR you are the resident genius at trotting out the bleeding obvious arent you...well done mate..attaboy..add another post to your total. To critique players in such a manner is purely a waste of bytes. What is the point of such syrupy sugar coating ? Maybe this is actually one of the problems with this club is everything is blended with honey and 100's /1000's Maybe the clubs motto ought be 'cliche et al' All we hear are 'appropriate' words. again al lfluff Possibly like in days of old a good display in the public stocks IS whats needed to rudely awaken some of these sloths. .Amongst their own they seem to attain a form of immunity. None will cast to hard a stone just in case one comes flying back. The coach doesnt say anything to onasty just in case the reader suggests this is unwarranted temerity and maybe the author is the one to be critiqued more closely than the players etc. I dont mind at all the way Hawthorn isnt to soft to occasionally draw its lines. I reckon we should follow suiit but thanks again Captain Obvious

geez Billy ...you old charmer...such a way with words havent you. Lets see.. Laidley continued to maximise the efforts out of his charges. Nth nearly always punched above their weight. He emphasied playing for the jumper and got those buggers to bleed for it. That team was one you never took the pedal off against. His list was arguably at many times less than ours but continued to rub our little noses in the brown stuff.. Is universally respected amongst his peers as a very good game day tactician, something Bailey sucks a.. Has a very good football mind.. Maybe Bailey is quite good at development.. but any number of people can do that surely. I happen to think we need someone who knows how do silly liitle things like orchestrate a win . Laidley is one amongst a number who proved adept at thinking on their feet during a game and restructuring to suit. I see absolutely none of this from our Dean and that seriously worries me. Nice to see you agree that Viney has capabilities .. But did you notice i paired him with laidley in the same way Thompson is with Hird ? Older head with younger verve ...did ya ? -
Fluff and Drivel. Reads like am 8 yo report card doesnt it... Ryan continued to turn up for class, he played well with the other boys in between naps. Ryan applied himself to the crayons and this resulted in a satisfactory rendition which the others really liked. Needs to pay a little more attention to the teacher. Fumbles, more focus, not outstanding, needs work rate to improve, must concentrate..........translates...got smashed ! but hey...got another game under the belt,,,,,whooped de do. . Wouldnt be so bad if he wasnt describing our more seasoned players !!!!

its a damning commnetary on our team that should you take out this bloke or that then we suddenly seem incapable of tackling , shepherding etc etc. Are we that reliant on so few. If so this is the crux of our horror

im not sure Lyon is undecided at all...he may simply be at a loss for a clean , unbloody way forward and might be waiting to see how the next couple of minths unfold in the football world and who possible makes any overtures.

I can only imagine there are proprietaries that would need to be observed if attempting to flesh out the intents of a coach still currently active at another club, especially the head coach.. Still ,what happens in shadows is often a different thing -
add: Melbourne Pride Melbourne Self-belief and Demon supporter patience.. all about 4-6 weeks away...at best

Hints of rift in the nest Amazing how things can happen, how the timing of events and the momentum of influences can prove irresitable. Personally I have another option in preference to Micky Mouse coming to Melbourne but whilst a month ago I could have argued that this was all but moot if not improbable this might not be so water-tight anymore. -
yep...no one likes to get sold a pup

Imnot wishing to offer this inisolation as stats alone can be befuddling. ..however Year Team Games Coached Wins Losses Draws Win % 2005 Hawthorn Hawks 22 5 17 0 22.7% 2006 Hawthorn Hawks 22 9 13 0 40.9% 2007 Hawthorn Hawks 24 14 10 0 58.3% 2008 Hawthorn Hawks 25 20 5 0 80.0% 2009 Hawthorn Hawks 22 9 13 0 40.9% 2010 Hawthorn Hawks 23 12 10 1 52.2% 2011 Hawthorn Hawks 5 3 2 0 60.0% To me this shows that even in his 'lean' building years he was far further down the track. The question is rather interesting though

Jimmy puts weight behind coach Dean Bailey
beelzebub replied to Heart Beats True's topic in Melbourne Demons
Et tu Jimma !!! -
n many respects it comes down to one simple notion. Melbourne , that is it's players and coaches say one thing and DO another. I don't believe a word of their waffle any more I will judge and comment purely on the result of their actions. Have yet to see words win a game of football, only effort. Some advice Brad... Less talk , more action
-
Fair enough. My view , for the record is from the overall effectiveness of Bailey since assuming the mantel. I see the first 2 years as slightly separate but not totally . I've just seen enough for mine. Mind your rear on that fence
-
Neither are the stats silly or the argument illogical. And Im far from Straw...which seems a fav tactic of such as yourself and Rhino in defence...oh..its all just Straw. Its easy to show Bailey is becoming less and less effective . This despite better and better off field assets, amenities as well as a vast improvement to his list. This it not an isolated view...practically the whole of football media is asking the same thing. They arent doing it purely to fill pages but because it stares all in the face If you are neither pro Bailey...nor anti Bailey what are you ?

Really ?? . Hes not putting in the effort required. He needs to lift.. Not just my impression or thoughts but those of Mark Stevens ( HS) I quote; "Davey is the highest paid player at the club in the second year of a four-year deal. With that comes responsibility, and there is mounting pressure for Davey to deliver. He is averaging only 11 uncontested possessions this season, an indication of a drop-off in workrate. And because he is not getting into space to launch, the running bounces and metres gained have stalled. If you average 450-500m gained a game as a midfielder you are elite (making Dustin Martin's mind-blowing 959m gained against Brisbane on Saturday night all the more extraordinary). At his best in 2009, Davey was averaging 463m a game. It dropped to 432m last year and has sagged to just 339m this season. In 2009, Davey was ranked 13th in the league for metres gained. He's now ranked 126th." go on..argue away

the trend itself.. shows a slowing of improvement from an initial jump . The first two years were accomplishing one job where after there was a dramatic ( by comparison ) improvement . This is trailing off. Some will see the graph and think we're still improving. Appearances are deceiving. The underlying TREND is downward. Anyone who understands forex will see this immediately. Glad youre happy there Nasher
