  1. Im with Hannabal.. hard to get fired up when your boss looks like hes waiting for a bus !! we obviously seem to have the 'collective' version of CFS its got to change
  2. i understand the idea HT..and its a factor.. but I just have this feeling thered be more knocking on the door ( in whatever fashion ) had we shown a bit more. Many wax and wane...and doenst take much to disenfranchise some. Cant blame some really.
  3. oh...i know !!! lol
  4. what does it become when you relay a twit in a forum ?
  5. theres this little thing called ...the phone....something else called the Internet !! Peoples inclination to purchase is more relevant than proximity to a sales stall....in this century next few weeks may indicate otherwise
  6. Point and point taken. Cant wait to see what theyve actually learnt
  7. im inclined to wait until reports of Sat training appear to see whos actually having a dip , whos avail etc. Given Sat will be lighter drills etc we really need a good spy ..lol ( somewhat ironic ) For many readers this will seem just this side of incredulous but Idont actually mind the idea of chucking Rivers down the sharper end. What the hell.. We have the likes of Warnock and McDonanld to cover in the back line. One thing I will give Riv is hes an excellent reader of the ball. Possibly in initialising a movement he can be quicker than trying to match an opponent. Kicking would need brushing up on. Could be interesting. Im finding him expensive down the other end..just my view. I want Grimes and Tappy on opposing flanks..Put Davey on the wing but have him as a loose cannon around the half back line through the middle. Morton can have a run in the Magoos I want Green in the middle...and working his little butt of ..and barking orders
  8. well ... unfortunately I think the wheels have fallen off our membership 'growth' wagon Suffice to say any real improvement in that number will be directly proportional to our success over the next months. currently at 34901... only 99 for the magical 35000 but I think Dale Kerrigan would have something to say about 40000 !!
  9. I think I understand your sentiment. However I still think the questions are legitimate. They could rightly be asked at any time. It concerns teh now...this now. You could again ask in 6-8 at that 'now' and quite reasonably youd get a different picture...if indeed things are different. At the end of last season I had an impression and I had optimism. After the pre season this became a little rigid and right now Im concerned. thats my take im simply alloowing others to paint theirs
  10. As I see it there are two distinct areas for review. 1) How are we as a club going & 2) How is Bailey going Hence the two , if related fields of enquiry. Good luck.... try to keep it real. Answer honestly
  11. Well..much is being discussed all over the place . I just thought we might like to get some graphical representation of what the overall opinion looks like. You arent locked into a singular position. You , hopefully have enough choices to qualify your views. Ive tried to be open minded with the selection of answers and apologise if this hasnt occured.
  12. Getting back somewhat to the middle of the topic I can see only a limited number of scenarios avail. 1) In the belated spirit of Easter Dean pulls a rabbitt out of a hat that makes jc's comeback look 2nd rate . The players lift/return. Reasonable number of wins. Club considers him for renewal 2) Whatever the malaise that befalls our club continues to linger and the mud gets muddier. . In terms of results ... i.e win/lose theres unlikely to be much in terms of outcomes. and this is where danger looms either way for Bailey. There are presently 17 games remaining. Lets put up a case for a 50/50 return. Result at seasons end is we have effectively say 44 pts. Id suggest youd bve very lucky to sneak into the finals now with only 44. Meaning ....weve missed the finals in a year we were expected to step up. Grade = Failure We fumble along for most of the rest of the season before landing a couple of decent wins here and there. Possible outcome 5-7 more wins. max pts 38. Grade >>>> Fail Alternatively a fairytale revival occurs and we might say get a 66% return for rest of year >> 54 pts... this might land you around 5th spot. Result Finals.. Grade >>> Very Good Who would like to come up and give me money on 11 wins from here on in ??...anyone ?? Its highly doubtful..And for mine this is why. We dont really have our A grade midfield on the paddock. Even when it gets there it will need a few game ( in battle conditions ) to gel and weld itself into a formidable force. ( and I beleive it will be one day ). Given injuries and the need for various players to get match fit and then some, I cant see us forcingourselves on this competition for at least 5-6 weeks. That effectively leaves only 11-12 games to make a fist with. Your hard up agaisnt the wall then.. To temper this more we would have needed a game style that was potent and somewhat consistent. Im sure of neither. There are in reality two time frames that come into play that will decide the fate of this club and staff. The short term and the rest-of-season. Im going to suggest the short term in the next 4 weeks. If nothing seems to be changing then the die will be well and truly cast. What else can happen? Well we can start playing competitive football. But theres nothing to date ( this year ) to indicate to me that there is any real basis to get overly confident playing Adelaide, nth , St Kilda and Carlton. Roos and Saints are at etihad and we play SO well there . . Lets say we even manage two wins.. This puts us on course for a 50/50 outcome years end. No finals and Bailey's gone I for one think we will know in a fortnight what we need to do in terms of courses of action . Many observers suggest 6-8 but as I consider Ive shown short of a miracle a trend will have been cemented for the year and this will force the hand of the club. I actually ,despite my concerns for his coaching/winning ability , quite like Bailey. I consider him an honorable man. Should the writing on the wall turn to Neon I think he himself would be wanting to effect his fate rather than the other way around .. Id suggest he would inform the club he seeks no extension/new contract.. This will allow all to save face, allow the club to start its search. my thinking is only..ONLY a massive resurrection of this team, and quickly, will save Bailey. other sceanrios will have exhausted the clubs patience and belief
  13. I must confess Im not a great fan of irrelevant publishing. Seems the same ol fluff rolled out week in week out. Then again Im not sure how many different ways you can sugar coat "we played liked sh!t" !! I can only suppose the club , in the social-media-frenzied world feels compelled to be as hip as the next bloke. They must feel the need to be 'out there' conecting with their readers/members. I think we spend enough on players wages.... might need to spend more of size 14 boots to kick them with though !!
  14. Thats a bit of a Cinderella outlook there Im afraid. Youre asking wolves to ignore meat !! Its humiliating because they were abysmal. Is that your or my fault ? No.. Its theirs. Reap as you sew. They played it they cop it. Often forgotten is this is their job...theyre being paid to do this... and generally a condition of employment is to do it to the best of your ability and to attain certain measurable outcomes. Did they ? No. Called to task is not so unwaranted really is it
  15. Given recent rumblings at Filthland I cant see how you can possibly make the call that Malthouse will stay. He might..he might not..thats about the length and breadth of it. He still has a very acute and active mind.. I cant see him enjoying twiddling his thumbs next year. How do you know Roos will not consider any offers toc oach. We all say things in life... and most of it goes out the window when 'something ; came along to change lay of the land. The only thing certain in footy is that nothing is certain. If teams take it one week at a time..... most others do similar but one year at a time. Nothing's in concrete
  16. gee..any of us could have come up with that list surely !! hardly poor form for GWS...theyre looking after themselves. What do you expect them to do ffs
  17. Whether this is whats was meant or alluded to I do sense the board will be bringing forward many time lines. There will be a somewhat greater sense of urgency applying now. The board wont succumb to panic but it will know that whatever plans or contingencies exist to remedy failure have just been ramped up. Whatever was in place that might have been looked at 'later', it will now happen 'sooner'. In that sense I think it a reasonable assumption to think things have changed.
  18. you do actually understand the roles these two play? Probably not !! perfectly understand youre wanting to blame someone but these two arent the problem.
  19. Its been infered often, and by those external to this club who're observing, that the QB game is our GF.. We lift for that game and 'spend' ourselves. Its like instead of really focussing on consistent efforts resulting in sufficient wins to play real finals footy we seem to hope that a good effort against Collingwood is suffcient. Of course it isnt
  20. Theres been many instances in recent games where Demons have stood flat footed, instances where an initial inclination to run down turned to shadowing their opponent ( accomplishes a lot that does). You can see a lot of body language displaying a lack of real enthusiasm for the extra efforts. Atm Melbourne just dont really impose themselves. Frustrating to watch.
  21. its beennoted many many times, here and elsewhere that Lyon hasnt the inclination to coach. Hird always hinted at it. Lyons role is more backroom. He can still do this whilst enjoying his media career. He's influential...lets keep it that way
  22. Cultural problems at Port Its actually Laidley leading off with this but in the article Primus is shown to not only know of it but to have open the box in an efort to deal with it.
  23. oh yes there is.. youve got the old boys club playing there. Some think they 'deserve' their place becasue they turn up. Has caused/causing much division.. Doesnt exist at Melboune yep passed on sheeds but chased Laidley...well there you are
  24. might I dare suggest its sort of both.. The best 6 will indicate how well the teams travelling...the bottom 6 indicate its depth... they are related..but differing points of reference.
