  1. he seems to relish playing as the second ruck it gets him involved in the play and he loves the hurly-burly of the contest
  2. his on-field leadership was incredible in the first half of the year his off-field leadership in the back half of the year left a lot to be desired
  3. the afl has no interest in reduction of teams expansion is the focus - where the 20th team will be is the big q i fully expect it'll be a third wa-based team, despite the push for nt to have one of their own
  4. more likely to expand to 20 within a decade than it is to contract to 18 once the taswegian franchise comes in
  5. i'd say a mid-late second round, high third round pick same 'value' as anb, jj
  6. lovely to have some clear, concise communications from the club
  7. i'm not convinced he's ever going to be anything other than serviceable he doesn't impact enough for a second string mid and he doesn't run hard enough as a fwd / mid to replace the likes of anb we really need him to step up
  8. well now the question becomes who gets the gig as replacement?
  9. as opposed to melksham in 2024? it's just a list spot, really
  10. he's not quick and the amount of time i see him kick under little pressure and fail to find the target is a big concern his kicking needs to improve significantly if he is to play more
  11. i still see rivers as a starting centre square, and i'd have bowey over howes, at this stage, in the starting xviii do we have confirmation that deakyn smith is going back to casey this year?
  12. a leader, a club legend, a fantastic former favourite son comes back after a tough exit sensational result
  13. faith in jt to deliver with two top ten picks
  14. in 2025, at least 11 will still be on afl lists, and it was 14 in 2024, with at least seven i would consider 'best squad' for the teams that they were on pretty impressive development and use of the alliance, i would've thought
  15. i thought he effectively replaced harmes in terms of his 'spot' on the list; we were trying to transition into a ball movement side, and he was in that group of players 23-28 or so that are 'next roleplayer up' harmes unfortunately had a rotten run with his body in his first season for footscray, while billings at least didn't have any injury concerns that i can recall his first game against them - without harmes, who missed thru suspension - was arguably his best game all year i thought he was serviceable in the last few games of the year, but i hope he's not in our side as i think it means we're covering for injury again
  16. and the minute it becomes available for the filth, watch all blocking of closing it off and building infrastructure around it suddenly disappear the issue with this sort of story is that it doesn't tell us anything that wasn't already known - there was always going to be a challenge about getting to the proposed $100m in terms of funding it if, in mid-2025, it's officially 'over' as a dream of a home base at caulfield, i am firmly of the belief that we need to seriously consider abandoning a precinct in the inner city as there's no real options available and go whole-hog out at casey
  17. i meant both mens and womens and we still had heaps of opportunities in both -m and -w and failed to capitalise, injuries be damned
  18. feels like the story of 2024 - dees had heaps of opportunities and failed to perform when required
  19. yeah needed lil to kick the goal
  20. most awkward i've seen her under the high ball since her debut very odd
  21. that was excellent ball use and movement that gets rewarded wiht a goal gosh our forward line is just all babies
  22. i think talls are just that much harder to evaluate if you look at the history of the best of them over the last decade or so since the northern franchises picked the eyes out of consecutive drafts, the best tall forwards have been father-sons, academy selections, or first round draft picks nick larkey is a complete anomoly in that regard, as was ben brown before him perhaps north's recruiter is an outstanding assessor of tall forwards?
  23. also need to factor in that we only want to take 3 picks to the draft 5, 9, 50-70ish, riak andrew as a cat a, ricky mentha as a cat b would be pretty nice hope that yze gets a contract with casey and a chance to develop adjacent to an afl system do we know who is continuing on with casey, @KC from Casey? i read somewhere on this very forum that deakyn smith might be back, plus i'm hoping tyler edwards, kai windsor, freeman continue on as regular players for casey given the loss of white, hustwaite, and other experienced players starting xxiii B: McVee - May - Lever HB: Bowey - McDonald - Salem C: Langdon - Rivers - C Windsor HF: Petracca - Petty - Chandler F: van Rooyen - Fritsch - Pickett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Spargo - Tholstrup - Turner - pick 5 / 9 Sub: Melksham casey xxiii B: Smith - Adams - Hore HB: Moniz-Wakefield - Andrew - Howes C: Billings - Woewodin - Sharp HF: pick 5 / 9 - Fullarton - Edwards F: Verrall - Jefferson - McAdam Foll: Campbell - Sestan - Laurie I/c: Edwards - K Windsor - Freeman - Mentha Top-up: Yze
  24. if only he'd been able to play a role late in 2023 and 2024 - he made the world of difference to our side i don't have any statistical data to back it up, but i 'felt' like we were a 3 goal a game better player when he was able to get through four quarters on a regular basis so thankful for what he has brought to our club, and was a huge part of the success in 2021
  25. vital player when fit, and has been since he lined up as a teenager on nick riewoldt in his pomp loved seeing him finally having a decent run with his body, long may it continue
