  1. whatwhat say what replied to Romey's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
it's been discussed quite a bit @Diamond Jim - https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/249729/casey-fields-set-for-redevelopment primarily intended for aflw, but obviously now a key consideration going forward for afl too
  2. wow that first tweet from mcgowan is atrocious ball use smith takes a nice mark from a forward 50 entry bomb, takes forever to decide what to do, kicks it straight to t mac, who bombs long to a pack, may hacks it out...straight to t mac, who get it to viney who bombs it indiscriminately, before a pack and nice handball from smith and then dunkley is the only player to hit a target coming out the other side of the backline what was that about learning our lessons re f50 entries?
  3. yes, very 'modern football'
  4. i would be very surprised to see jetta and hibberd both dropped
  5. what i'm finding interesting about this is that - unlike a lot of clubs who were successful from the 50s to the mid-00s - is that we really didn't seem to have a regular key forward target it would seem to me that we played more of a 'modern' style game of football where the goals were shared around and it was more about the overall contribution of the team as opposed to have a clear 'target' up forward?

    i'd add brad green, maybe...

peter wright has a lot of paul johnson about him he makes rory lobb look hard
  9. toss up btw salem and melksham for me
  10. nah, that's consistent forward line pressure i can completely understand why anb holds his spot despite his woeful disposal - he runs all day and works hard defensively, something that few in our side seem to be capable of doing consistently
  11. impact player coming off the bench
  12. mcc kicked off the norm smith curse when they allowed the tiggas to occupy it from 65 onwards
  13. nope, got the word from a mate of his - tomlinson was told he wasn't in the 22 for round 1 prior to the last preseason match, the performance therein helped him secure his spot in the 22 despite his performance (or lack thereof) on the training track i was similarly mighty surprised to learn this given that, as you say, he plays in a position we clearly targeted, he performed when the heat was on him
  14. Troy Chaplin very bullish on Lockhart and Rivers in the latest official podcast
  15. if only he played well my understanding is his spot in the 22 for round 1 was borderline and was saved by a very good preseason hit-out plus the injuries to salem and jones if he plays like he did against meth coke again he'll be out of the side pretty quickly
  16. pfft, this the afl, mcc, and mcg trust we're talking about transparency? never gonna happen!
  17. i think this was discussed in the financial issues thread? this is a case of the afl doing a deal to enable funds to be passed on that they've been withholding from the mcg; a deal has been done next trick will be for the afl to stroke and pull themselves with a similar deal for the carpark tenants every dollar helps
  18. i think everyone likes marty hore cos he's a good honest toiler the fact remains that he was in and out of our side last year when we finished 17th unfortunately - a bit like jayden hunt - if he's in our best 22 we're really not a very good side
  19. this helps... https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/early-christmas-present-mcg-tenant-clubs-get-multi-million-dollar-windfall-20200603-p54z7j.html Collingwood, Melbourne, Richmond, Hawthorn, Carlton and Essendon will each receive home game payments estimated at between $150,000 and $200,000 per match for the remainder of the shortened season.
  20. B: Jetta - May - Lever HB: Salem - O Mac - Hibberd ? Langdon - Petracca - Tomlinson HF: Jones - T Mac - Melksham F: Weideman - Fritsch - Pickett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Harmes - Jackson - Brayshaw - Bennell Emerg: vandenBerg - Neal-Bullen - Brown - Lockhart biggest queries for me were hibberd or lockhart, tomlinson or anb, jackson or brown i full expect harmes to play back, which i'm not personally a fan of
  21. something to do with the determination of it as an indoor venue for the entirety of the season as opposed to an outdoor one some of the time, an indoor one some of the time consistency
  22. afl doesn't have the rights to use grounds between october and end of march the fixture is ALWAYS going to be compromised...until they reduce it to a 17-round season
