  1. latest on it: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/demons-secure-backing-from-caulfield-racecourse-trust-to-press-on-with-new-hq-talks/news-story/3b9d73d7e71ac4f77de8c4f22821aea4
  2. you're severely underrating what van rooyen offers and overstating the value of others by comparison king brothers routinely under deliver as the #1 forward targets for their respective clubs, juh plays effectively as the 'third' tall and seems to be a bit of a specialist at docklands, thilthorpe and lord are hot and cold, while cadman probably shouldn't have played at all in 2023 i'd take jvr over all of those mentioned with exception of jye amiss and possibly logan mcdonald
  3. jvr's leap and ability to read the flight of the ball is a distinct advantage as a secondary ruck
  4. i believe they have? the sun, coming up 10 years ago, did this 'football heartland' thing: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/interactive-footy-fan-map-afl-clubs-membership-heartlands/news-story/4ceb4875ecacd1b3b04eade7b2dc620b the graph no longer works but reddit indicates it's pretty much as expected: Glen Iris Brighton Hawthorn Toorak Caulfield East Camberwell Richmond Malvern Kew Black Rock the caulfield racecourse area works for me as, as a glen iris resident (yeah!! top of the table...now win a final), it's about a 7-10 min drive away, depending on lights
  5. i'll disagree a bit here - i think it was as much about gawn not being able to be a #1 forward target grundy was only ever a ruckman, not a forward target, at the end of the day i do wonder how it would've worked if the skipper hadn't been injured early on vs the bears in rd 2 - the grawndy combo looked okay in pre-season and r1, and then they never really got a decent crack at it outside of that gawn is the game's generational ruckman; to have him deployed forward for over half the game is to waste a unique playing talent
  6. jackson was outstanding once darcy was injured and out of his way
  7. surely just a matter of time til they pull out of hosting, right? insane waste of money
  8. the things you think about when you lie awake at night... best 23: B: McVee - May - Lever HB: Rivers - Turner - Salem C: Langdon - Brayshaw - Hunter HF: Petracca - Petty - Neal-Bullen F: van Rooyen - Fritsch - Pickett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Spargo - Bowey - McAdam - Sparrow Sub: Melksham next 21: B: Hore - Tomlinson - Adams HB: N Brown - McDonald - Howes C: Windsor - Chandler - Billings HF: Tholstrup - Jefferson - Smith F: Schache - B Brown - Moniz-Wakefield Foll: Fullarton - Woewodin - Laurie I/c: Verrall - Sestan - Farris-White rd 1: B: McVee - May - Lever HB: Rivers - Turner - Salem C: Langdon - Brayshaw - Hunter HF: Petracca - van Rooyen - Neal-Bullen F: Fritsch - B Brown - McAdam Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Spargo - Billings - Bowey - Sparrow Sub: Woewodin my expectation is that the following will be unavailable: - Melksham (knee) - Smith (suspension) - Petty (foot) - Pickett (suspension)
  9. it's the ground hard as a rock and players routinely mention being 'sore' after playing there
  10. brutal
  11. i suspect, judging on the initial training reports, that plugger mac will return to defence for casey
  12. thanks for confirmation / rebuttal not really - the filth has nearly as many aligned members in the mcc as mfc these days (well, at least according to a journo whose industry knowledge i trust)
  13. yet our actual 'base' of supporters has swung green, teal, and red glen iris, malvern, malvern east, caulfield - all skewing left
  14. his highlights >>> better than most others looks a goer
  15. i reckon we'll up petty's deal after he's the coleman medallist played forward for 3.5 games, kicked 12 goals extrapolate that out to 25 and we've got ourselves an 85+ goal a season premiership full forward
  16. about the only player they don't think will be a future star was the 37 year old brickie whose mates nominated him for a giggle
  17. didn't match the drapes
  18. he's gone from: certain pick 2 challenging as being equal to reid as pick 1 top 5 certainty will inside the first 7 picks might slip to pick 10 possibly still available about pick 13 still reckon north pick him
  19. very different players west might've been good today, but there's a reason she was dropped last week
  20. just like @DeeSpencer hates on birch and gay, i'll save all my opprobrium for west she can win the ball but she's useless with it
  21. beaten up around the contest physically intimidated second to the ball weak
  22. geez this is dispiriting to watch
  23. and he'll probably be as close as any other prognosticator all draft prognosticators seem to read each other's coverage and fall into confirmation bias
