  1. ... yeah I got the same thing. They've put me in a league, but it doesn't look like a demonland group.
  2. How do you join? Is there a password or something?
  3. His trip has been cut to a 24 hour stay over in Canberra.
  4. A fun idea, but I can't see it happening. You really can't go from not playing on Good Friday one year, and the next trivializing it's significance with a HEAVEN V HELL SHOWDOWN! It's still an important day for many people. Eventually, football will be played on Good Friday, but it won't be like that.
  5. As long as it's not something as weak and overanalyzed as 'Power', 'Force' or 'Pride', I don't care what it is. - I think Gold Coast did the right thing by putting it on the back burner for a while. Let the name come about naturally.
  6. Sylvia to be our highest vote-getter in the Brownlow since Woewodin.
  7. Ballarat would suit me nicely... It will be interesting to see how big a crowd the town can muster.
  8. Have you ever seen the little pocket encylopedia of 'Every Melbourne Player' that came out a few years ago? It has a little write up on most of the players -Not all the entries say where they were recuited from, but it could probably knock off a few of the names on that list.
  9. Funnily enough, there was also an Alistair Nicholson on ABC reporting from Hobart when Alfa Romeo came in last night. Wasn't ours though... too much hair.
  10. 28 year old James Podsiadly to Geelong was the rookie selection that took me by surprise. Maybe we should have given Saunter a go a few years back!
  11. You can see it at the 1:12 mark of this video...
  12. The fact that even Carlton passed on the key position prospects indicates that BP was not alone in his assessment of the talent on offer.
  13. Jakovich's famous scissor goal. Thanks SaturdayFudge... whoever you are.
  14. I'm still more interested in cricket than I am in the A-league. Last year's series against South Africa was brilliant, despite the result.
  15. Well sponsorship is tied up for another year so it's not that. Something happening down at Casey? Has Ball seen the light? News on Jim? ...could be anything
  16. Haha... but to give the thread a bit of context. He had just played his finest game for the MFC and probably won us an elimination final off his own boot. I was hearing similar comments about McLean after that game. In 2007 it all changed. Melbouren sunk, and McLean never recaptured that form.
  17. I was glad to hear Bradshaw chose Sydney over Carlton because I knew it opened the door ever so slightly for Robbo. I would love to see him go on... With a full pre-season, and the improved delivery he'd get at Carlton, I see no reason why he couldn't kick 40-50 goals. He only played 13 games this season, after overcoming a serious injury, and he still managed to lead the club goal kicking. With the exception of maybe Waite, Carlton have very little to work with... why wouldn't they take a punt on a proven goal kicker?
  18. I've often wondered this myself, and I think it ultimately comes down to our lack of success. I remember reading an article a few years ago that said we've lost the most supporters to rival clubs, which isn't all that surprsing. We complain about the last 3 years, but after the 1964 we didn't make the finals again for another 23 years! That's one hell of a draught, and a generation of potential supporters who would have passed over the Dees as their club. On top of that, we've never had a suburb to represent and to foster that community support. We're just... Melbourne. It's been a long and slow decline, but I'm interested in WHY we were so unsucesfful over that time? I've heard it was a combination of poor coaching and inferior recuiting zones. If that is the case, I feel more than comfortable picking up Scully and Trengove. We deserve a few breaks.
  19. Not adequately supported? Well that would be the opposite to the issues he was having at St Kilda. He can't have it both ways. Fair slap in the face if true.
  20. Did this interview even happen?? I take it nothing of interest was said..
  21. Just brilliant... I'm glad to see the same guy has also posted Jakovich's famous scissor goal. I've been waiting years to see that. Thanks SaturdayFudge whoever you are...
  22. I see we're on the same page as Cameron Shwab re: the darker shade of blue. Looks great. Well done to those involved.
  23. Well that's a surprise. I wonder what's changed in the space of a year? With his recent injury problems and a reputation which at this stage seems to exceed his ability, I think it's a sensible trade. I've been reluctant to say as much because of the loyalty he's shown the club. Jones, Maloney, Valenti and McDonald are similar players and with Scully and possibly Trengove coming through next year, we can easily afford to lose him and use pick 11 on the best young forward or ruckman. But still, I'll be sorry to see him go. I thought he would become an absolute star after that elimination final against St. Kilda...
  24. After all that endless debate around here, Sylvia finally made it. Great game and a commendable season. One of the commentators said during the game that Davey has been the most consistent this year, but Sylvia has probably played the best football. ...FWIW I think gun fits pretty well with Col. Not a star yet, but he's better than an honest battler. Somewhere in the middle.
