  1. Hahahahahaaha.... PMSL Too good FitZ. Too good... !
  2. And you've returned, once again, taking the bait and looking even stupider than he does (once again ). I might not agree with everything Y_M says, but realist, i can't stand reading your emotional rants. Stop taking everything Yze_Magic says about Bruce so personally. That is all.
  3. No Jeff White/Jamar/PJ is interesting. White's earned the weeks rest, but would be wanting to do as much as possible to get back into the team. This suggests to me he's either made the team for the Bulldogs game, or has been told that he will not be considered.
  4. Read THIS thread from just after the last time we wore it against St Kilda. There are many many different suggestions and a lot of discussion regarding the clash strip in there. http://demonland.ugbox.net/forum/index.php...mp;#entry152108
  5. With his recent exclusion from the leadership group, i'd say its now more certain than ever that he will call it quits at seasons end. I agree with the many good points that have been made here already about Yze, so i'll just say, the bottom line is he's not part of the future and it's difficult to imagine DB giving him an extra year, given the lack of game time he's recieved this year. If he stays fit for the rest of the year and continues pushing for selection at Sandy, i don't see any reason why he couldn't play at least one more game late in the season, as a farewell to the Demon faithful who have watched him for 13 years.
  6. Despite Meesen's crap form, there sounds like a lot of positives to be taken from the younger brigade. Nice to know they developing Maric's defensive side (albeit in the reserves), and Grimes sounds very promising. If Newton has another big game for Sandy (in the week off), and kicks a bit straighter, he could well be pushing for selection against the Bulldogs. Who do Sandy play next week?
  7. Unreal result! Especially given our on-field performance and where we are on the ladder... this is far beyond expectations. Too bad we could get that last 381 to crack the 30,000... but things are looking bright for next year if we can keep all our members from this year, and grow on that. Congratulations to the club, everyone give yourselves a pat on the back
  8. The gutsiest part of that play IMO, was that he contested the next boundary throw-in with a dislocated shoulder. He was right next to the interchange gate, and could have come off straight away but a replacement wasn't ready, so he contested and won the hitout, before coming off. That's tough and selfless. How bout how he broke his hand in the 1st quarter against the Cats in round 3, but went onto to have 19 disposals, 12 hitouts and be one of our better players for the match? Unbelievable determination. Truly inspirational stuff.
  9. High Tower... u've been posting here a week and you're telling me to jump in the queue? <_< haha I might not post much, but i've always been and always will be, member #1 of the PJ/High Tower bandwagon!!!! I've been talking him up for years on here mate... Ask anyone...
  10. Sad news for McLean and the club. He was well on his way to winning his first Bluey (although Green's been making big headway on him lately, and is now almost a certainty for it), and it's a shame that he's not going to play any more footy this year given his level of consistency. As has been said though, better to get the surgery now and get him 100% ready for a big pre-season and round 1 next year. A spot now opens up for Valenti, CJ, Buckley, Davey, Bartram and possibly Bell, all to get more time thru the guts, and gives us a real chance to evaluate our 2nd-tier midfielders, without McLean and Moloney. Big chance for Jones to step up to the next level too, although i do worry for him receiving the #1 tagger every week.
  11. It was Green who said it. I've been PJ bandwagon member #1 since '05 (don't believe me? check my posts ) and saw him play juniors, and not even i knew that he was in the top 5 at the club for speed! I knew he was quick for a big man, but not that quick... Not to take anything away from PJ, who looks really quick over 50+ metres, but we really must have a slow list...
  12. I swear Bailey and his football dept. have been getting down to Demonland and reading my posts.... LOL White must fight for spot now: Bailey
  13. I hope he recieves a nomination for the AFL 'Army' award for his chasedown. His tackle was arguably better than Dunn's effort on Foley that received a nomination a couple of weeks ago.
  14. Off the top of my head... 15.4 i believe? Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.
  15. Spot on. Valenti got quite a lot of the footy, and lots of hard possesions in traffic. Due to the nature of most of his possesions being contested, this affected his disposal as he was often being tackled when getting rid of the footy. Tackled really well, and is great in close both offensively and defensively. Not as good off the ball or in space, as he got burnt off for pace on a few occasions. Should definitely stay in the 22 on that performance though. Martin's 1st qtr was very impressive. Took a nice strong mark and had a neat looking kicking action. He moves really well... I think in a year or so's time, people will be talking about how we've got two of the more agile, versatile big men in the league in Martin and PJ. Martin's body also looks a fair bit bigger than in pre-season. Bode... i hate to write any player off completely, but he just doesn't look like he'll make it. Works really hard off the footy, but is overly concious of his man and doesn't have the smarts or the confidence in his own kicking ability to consistently attack the game on the rebound. In the role he plays, he needs to improve on his rebound footy, that means, at the very least, kicking at an AFL standard. IMO, he's like a poor-man's version of Clint Bartram (i think Bartram as been much improved over the last month, but his rebounding, like Bode's, leaves a lot to be desired)... I don't think we need both Bode and Bartram in the same team- two exclusively small players with poor skills and decision making. I prefer Bell to Bode, as he's a stronger mark overhead and has the ability to play taller than he is if he needs to. And has better skills.
  16. I saw in the stats that Dunn had laid game-high nine (9) tackles for the day, almost all exclusively on Black. I didn't watch him too closely, so those little 'squibs' he may have had, as u said, weren't glaring and went unnoticed by me. What i did notice was he was on Black's backside every step of the way. I said to my mate after the game i thought he probably laid 5 or 6 tackles... but to see he actually laid 9 is a really pleasant surprise. I definitely sensed a lift in the physical side of his game, but do agree, he has some way to go still in terms of physicality and impact. Today was a great step forward though.
  17. I was on my feet for the majority of the chase, urging him on.... i just knew he was gonna get him! It was more like spring racing carnival than footy... "Come on PJ... go PJ go!... GO... yeSS, GO.... YEEEEAAHAHHH!!!!!!" Had a few Lion's people around me who were absolutely livid with Sherman. And rightfully so... i know i'd hate to see one of our more capable running players getting run-down by a ruckman. I gave them a bit of sympathy and said, "well, he is pretty quick for a big bloke..." I think that just pi$$ed em off more, to be honest. hahaha
  18. Pretty much spot on this week, though its a lot easier when we have an even team effort and a solid win. Thought Buckley's 'carelessness' in his disposal had improved a lot today. He seemed much surer of his kicking than in previous performances, and his defensive pressure was first rate. The 2 tackles he laid from big chases were fantastic and something that he'd never shown before. Credit to the kid for being told what to work on, and going back to Sandy and doing it. He's a very exciting player.
  19. Brad Green was a class above today. IMO, the closest thing we have to an 'elite' player on our list... Other than his attempted rushed behind that went out of bounds and resulted in a late shot at goal, it was a truly flawless performance vs the Lions.
  20. Same. Maybe Warnock lost to Brown. Bradshaw was lucky to get 4 goals so Garland took the points in that match up for mine. All others won their positions IMO. FWIW I really rate the Lions, and gave us no hope pre-game. I said to my mate before the match when we made our predictions: "i'll be happy if we lose by less than 40 points". The fact that we not only went with them and stayed 'competitive' all day, but had winners all over the ground is a very very encouraging sign.
  21. How was Jeff White's debut for Sandy?
  22. Dunn showed no courage or comittment errors today either, which is a major improvement on last week. Black had 23 touches, Dunn 17 and a stack of tackles at the stoppages. Everytime Black had it, Dunn was always right behind him, driving him into the turf. Black's numbers look ok, but his effectiveness and impact was non-existent today IMO. Dunn made him earn every touch. Top marks Lynden Dunn!
  23. Haha that's gold! DD36... wtf?!?! hahaha
  24. What a moment! Just quitely, i too got a bit of a lump in my throat and a bit watery eyed.... Was a pity Brad Green's goal was just after the siren tho... would've been a magical play of the day and icing on the cake. And Green was clearly BOG imo so would have been a fitting and deserved finish.
