Zak has improved quite a bit, but as others have said, doesn't fill a need. I'm a big fan of Aliir Aliir (2 i's people) but he won't be going anywhere.
-
Fitness or lack of preseason have nothing to do with missing simple kicks and having no awareness 5 minutes into a game. He's a slow thinker, slow mover and an inconsistent kick. Plays some very good games now and then, but his stinkers are too often and too costly. Not a fan at all. First player I'd trade.

Frost would be ideal. But no one will go with him. Daniher will just stand 20 metres off the pack whilst all our defenders go up for the spoil, which evenif they connect won't go 2 metres, handball out to dropped pie face for the easy goal. Rinse and repeat.

Hibberd. Now that the positive is out of the way... wtf was going on at the kick ins? Seriously, it was [censored] wet yet somehow time after time they'd take it end to end and score. We'd kick out and they stopped it every time. Painful, and imo what ultimately cost us the match. Held we held just 2 of them up in the last quarter we would've held on. I feel for Spencer, but it was the most predictable thing ever. 10 years and done about half a preseason ever. Injury prone, and the way he plays doesn't help. Viney was mic'd up and telling everyone to go direct. No one went direct. He was right, but no one listens to him, another x for making him captain so early. Melksham had zero tackles, again. I'm convinced that's the team rule keeping him in. And that one handed marking attempt, tough guy. The umpiring was [censored] deplorable both ways, so I'm angry I can't complain about that. I like the way Dom Tyson takes forever to decide which opposition player to kick to. Gives me time to really savour the moment. Richmond are bog ordinary, with the luckiest horseshoe ever and a leprechaun shoved up their clacker.

If Watts played Richmond every week he'd be an all time great. Kills them every time. [censored] loving Hibberd. How come he didn't need time to get settled? Best on to half time. Hunt excellent early. It'd be all over by now if it was dry. Our luck they'll pinch this. ANB just [censored] stupid at the end there. But he hasn't been that bad. Frost is a beast. My fear about Spencer getting injured is happening every 5 minutes.

Hibberd's first quarter better than Melksham's whole career.

Post^ needs a concussion test.

No pets allowed at the G. Not sure where they got the other 8 thousand from.

Yep. There's a saying in the NFL "see what you hit" but the facts are you tend to lead with the head when you're wearing a helmet. Which leads to way more head (and neck) injuries. It's bad luck for Gus. We were ultra cautious with Nev, let's hope we do the same with Gus and he comes out the other side just as well as Nev has. If not, there's more to life than football.

There are always idiotic requests and what not. Amongst them, some prove right in the end. It annoys me no end when people say I trust the footy department to etc etc.., Yeah, no [censored] the footy department runs the show, it should go without saying on here. What are you going to do if you don't trust them, go down there and tell them the right way? We could change the name of this place to Agreemonland and just come and agree with the footy department each week. That'll be swell. As for what you were saying earlier about players that don't play Melksham's role, I skimmed a bit, but in Hibberd out Melksham seems pretty simple.
-
Melksham got the Lumumba vibe going on already it seems, no matter how bad he is, he'll always have his defenders. This may just be a 4 game sample size with us, but this is exactly how he was at Essendon. If turning the ball over, not tackling and not going hard is playing a role and meeting requirements, sign me up, I'll play for free.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5
Deestroy All replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The zero in their loss column will be the main change. -
It was, I apologise.
-
Vince isn't a defenders bootlace, yet he's wasted a season and a bit down there. No reason why Bugg can't be put in Melksham's position to do it just as rubbish or better. By the way, you're having a go at old mate Satyricon (which I usually love), but your last few posts have sounded a lot like him. Footy department is king blah blah.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5
Deestroy All replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll add to the chorus of why the [censored] is Melksham still in. Bugg at his worst could play Melksham's role as well as he is. I get that Kent is frustrating, but this would be a good game for Kent and Garlett to get some "they're out here" gimme goals over the back when Richmond try their maniacal press. -
That 50 was exactly what happened to Watts last week and we got no 50. [censored] the umpire Bulldogs.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5

It's one of their improved areas. But tagging a ruckman isn't a thing. Even if it was a thing, Nankervis is hardly Polly Farmer or Max Gawn.
-
Imagine the team meeting with Goody telling the players we're going to tag Nankervis. Jones and Viney would gently escort him from the premises while some rookies clear out his office.
-
31 man squad named for Casey so that doesn't really help. Tyson is one of them, hope it stays that way.
-
I've seen every second of Richmond this season and haven't liked much of what I've seen. I said North were the worst 9-0 team ever last year, Richmond are a much worse 4-0 team. Nankervis has made them their biggest improvement, as their rucks have been shot (semi typo) for years. Spencer is good enough to break even going on his form so far this year. Their stars are playing well, the same ones that go missing when the spotlight is on. They don't worry me. They're playing as well as they can and it's not impressive. If we lose to them I'm going to be furious.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 4
Deestroy All replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - Garlett. An effort like that deserved a win. 10x the player he was last year. 5 - Watts. Gave a [censored]. Tried and delivered well. Continuing last years form which is pleasing. 4 - Petracca. Provided what should've been the game breaking moment, too bad the so called leaders couldn't hold it together. Someone should've got the ball to him again. 3 - Hunt. The defence, and attack from defence would be unwatchable without him. 2 - Salem. He is so very Luke Hodgeish. 1 - Oliver. I guess. Honorable mention to Spencer who I would've given votes but he lost to Sandilands. But was still very good. The most senior players / leadership group hang your [censored] heads in shame. -
Again on Vince, playing him as a defender... wtf, his best form, probably ever, was when he was shutting down midfielders, there's your defence, it isn't getting down there. On top of that he was killing them the other way. The mind boggles. Don't give me the age bs either, they moved him back there not long after his b&f and he's still fit as a fiddle. I fail to see the logic in it at all. He's had 1 good game back there.

I really question Goodwin's judgment in a) bringing Melksham to the club and 2) almost gifting him a spot ahead of Jetta - which would have happened had injuries not let Jetta walk back in. The guy has played exactly like Did at Essendon. Poor disposal. Faux aggression and soft when it really matters. He's bog ordinary. No idea why Goodwin recruited him. Just like I had no idea why Roos would recruit Lumumba. Dumb players not suited to today's half back flank. Please, Hibberd, give us something. The co captaincy thing didn't really bother me. But after hearing Jones' comments on it, I think it was unnecessary. I don't really attribute it to Viney's poor form either, but it's clear Viney isn't a captain yet and miles off Jones' level. Couple of early fails against Goodwin. As for the game itself. It was predictable. Felt it in my loins. Made it no easier to accept though. The mental lapse in the 3rd, and zero if not negative leadership in the last few minutes was just painful. Dom Tyson's disposal in the first half, simple [censored] disposals, were just absolutely unforgivable. He's meant to be this classy Pendlebury type, he's more Godfrey. Just does it too often in too many games. Slow as all [censored] too. Frost is better than Omac but the defence is still unreliable bordering on a shambles. Vince isn't a defender and should be nowhere near the back half, another x for Goodwin. My positives were Garlett who has been sensational this year. Petracca, who should be a permanent forward with no Hogan. And Watts who may actually be winning me over. The major negative is footy is [censored] [censored].
