Don't know about the free kick part, just adding more grey area. But I agree it's only because he got injured. I've watched all the footy shows tonight and they seem amazed that Carlton laid some tackles in a game. As part of the tackle highlight package they show one almost identical to the Gibbs one only no one was hurt so it's just another tackle. Legend has it that Robbie Grey actually knocked himself out once he realised the shame of being the first player tackled by Bryce Gibbs.

Agree with the above. Softest 4 goals you'll ever get. -
There was a great quote last week "If Gawn's marks start sticking he'll be a star. Always in the right spot just doesn't hold em." I was on the money. Loved his run down diving tackle on Stokes too. I think he beat Naitanui's career total contested marks in one half yesterday.

Communicating time left to players
Deestroy All replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bullhorn. 3 hoots for a minute, 2 hoots for 30 seconds. If we're losing badly no one gives a hoot. Or laser pens. Green for 1 minute, red for 30 seconds. Ravens? The announcer could "accidentally" cough over the loud speaker at home games or hit the AC/DC tolling bells with a minute left. I got ideas for days. Hit me up MFC if you wanna pay me for innovations. -

I guess you could say... ...They cleaned up. -
He did it against Adelaide when they were flying, playing on one of the games best. He did it on Cotchin on a Friday night and kicked the clutch goal. Did against the Bulldogs who were going alright. And did it on the big stage against Collingwood playing on Pendlebury. I'm not saying he's our best player, I'm just saying your argument is the worst.

That [censored] Montagna kicks the last second winner against us yesterday. Game of Thrones finale today. I wonder what disaster awaits me tomorrow.

He's no Max King yet.

LOLmumba So experienced. Such an important player.

Listen here, Machsy (if that is your real name), if I could be bothered searching and found that I in fact posted about the incredible Max King first, then I'd do that and let you know all about it. If I found you posted first I'd avoid mentioning that. lol Carey... what a noob. More like Paul Salmon with Cyril Rioli agility.

I made a post one time about liking King... so I'll pretend like I knew this was coming and tell all you idiots I told you so. But seriously, great to hear the kid has a few bags under his belt and a bag in the senior 2's. He moves like a nice footballer, I really hope he makes it. Thanks everyone for the reports.

Slightly off topic, but I was reading a bit of Punt Road End the other week and one of the posters was quite impressed with "Blisars." A good effort.

I've not been a Grimes fan for a long time, used to long for the day he'd get dropped. Funnily enough I haven't had a problem with him in his last few games, and he gets dropped. Anyway, I'd bring him in for Garland. Hope to see ANB and Stretch, hope not to see the Dean of Terlich. No surer thing than us losing this though, I can just feel it. I'd love to see Gawn take another step forward, here's a chance to dominate a game. I liked how he actually left the ground to attempt marks last week. -
Wow, I only just opened this thread now, and I'm truly surprised by the amount of angst against a champion of the game that has retired injured. Pleasantly surprised. Great read.

The love between him and Jonesy makes me smile. I love that Brayshaw, who is already blessed with talent and has the desire, has the likes of Jones, Vince and Cross to learn from. There's a lot of guts, skill, determination and professionalism to sponge up there. It used to be Moloney and Sylvia... Brayshaw is and will be a ripper. I don't really see the Cotchin thing at all, maybe the balance, I hope I never see hunched over dinky little safe kicks 10 times a game. Brayshaw, Salem and Hogan. All have proven they can play, they're all hard as [censored] and all have plenty of skill. Good times. -
lol Lumumba demands this, Lumumba tries to do that... How about Lumumba doesn't turn his back on one of the hottest forwards in the game and let him run in and slot a goal. Embarrassing. How about he doesn't hospital handball someone during one of his predictable 1-2 attempts. Seriously, he's played one good game for us. Yet it's everyone else's fault how he plays? Maybe we should sack Roos and make Heritier the coach so we play the Lumumba way. You know know he's a flop when Travis [censored] Varcoe has been the better player in the deal.

I'm not happy with Newton at this point. Whilst he looks like a nice enough player when he (too rarely) has the ball in space, I'd go as far as to say he appears to be the physically weakest player on our list. He gets bumped off the ball, out of contests so damn easily, no resistance at all. He needs to go away and build strength and a tank. I think he'll be a nice icing player but at the moment he has no influence in a battling side.

I agree our skills are bad. They always have been. The coach should get the most out of his cattle. Do you think Roos thought today would be the day Matt Jones or Viney suddenly stopped, propped and hit a leading Howe in between his defender, Hogan's 2 and the spare man? I don't. Scores were level late in the 3rd. Oxley was [censored] us all day. The simple change could've made a huge difference, our skill level isn't going to be any different any time soon.
