I know they put a lot of time into Salem in regards to defensive positioning etc last year. And when he played he really impressed me and rarely lost a one on one. He has been a bit iffy in some of these NAB games though I've noticed too. Also there were 2 very bizarre missed tackles from him in the Saints game, had the chance to wrap them up but didn't and both times the player just ran off him. -

Newton's contested work is some of the worst I've seen with us. So easily pushed off the ball. But if he gets another chance to squeeze into the team I wouldn't be surprised if he does make a fist of it. I like his ball use and with the grunt starting to take care of itself he could become a useful outside player as GRRM is alluding to A lot would need to go his way for that to happen though. -

So Earl noticed there was something wrong with his hand, he's had scans and wasn't in the main group, but because he didn't tell you about it there's no problem? -
lol this guy... A disaster... A blokes career could've been over, missed 2 years, yeah I'm sure he'd consider getting his body and fitness right for 6 weeks a "disaster." Fair dinkum there's some [censored] written.

It's the free kick for it that bothers me. At first glance the umpire let it go, which I believe was the correct call. Then paid the free after he saw the reaction by whichever idiot got polaxed. Imagine that was in the heat for 4 points, Pedo pretty much did the right thing, if he bent down he still risked getting him high or a head clash and a 50/50 result at best. What he did eliminated the opponent and got the ball going into space our way. If that type of thing cost anyone 4 points I'd be furious. And if we're going to pay frees for reactions, congratulations to Lindsay Thomas on your Coleman Medal.

Jesse Hogan and his kicking for goal (merged thread)

I'm of the opinion leave it alone. Trying to fix it will lead to years of yips. Just let them do what feels natural. Although we are f'd if he ever has to kick from 50 after the siren with the huge arc he needs it'll be play on. It's funny that Bruce felt to me like a world beater yesterday, while Hogan had a shocker. Yet at the end of the day they both kicked 2.2. -

Was about to say the same. I think we take him for granted now. Does what he wants. Was a much needed composed and skilful head don't back at times. I can't remember one error. He's all class.

Brilliant^ It might be a practice game for the commentators, sure, but he did the same thing all last year too. The guy is a dinosaur with the memory of a 90 year old goldfish. I could never stand the bloke, I remember watching the Atlanta Olympics late one night and he thought he was off air, went to rip absolute shreds off some poor bastard, who probably forgot to put coffee in his whiskey. The look on his face was pure hatred and disgust. Pr/ck.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Deestroy All replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's alright I spose. -
I thought we were quite ordinary apart from the few obvious standouts. This isn't a negative comment, I think it's been a theme of the NAB cup, a lot of teams have looked ordinary but all kicked high scores. When was the last time we did that? Biggest positive was running it out so easily, I've seen teams struggle this round in the final quarter, we did it as good if not easier than anyone. Being in front in the last quarter with the interchange cap is going to be hugely important I feel. Hogan better sign up now or he'll have to settle for decoy wages supporting Watts.

Carlton is my favourite team.

I cut him a break.
-
Shouldn't have even gone to him, Salem was the closer and better option. I thought it was a squib too, but maybe the sun cuts him a break.

First half ponderings. I'm enjoying the stylings of Max Gawn, Jack Watts, Neville Jetta, Jeff Garlett and Clarrie. No idea how we're winning with our midfield being so bad so far. Tyson, Hogan and Wagner couldn't play worse games if they tried. Tom has been good, but that [censored] turn over... Take out O'mac and put in Dunn and the Saints would not have got 4 of those goals. Now, how the [censored], does Sandy Roberts have a job? So far he's called Jetta Salem, Wagner Tyson, Harmes Oliver, Nathan Jones Nathan Brown... Just embarrassing.

Saturday Talking Point: The NAB Challenge
Deestroy All replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Although a much better quality game, watching Pies v Dogs makes me feel better about our apparent lack of skills last week. Perfect conditions and easy targets being missed all day, by reliable vets too. -

No Elmo. Luckily Robbo was available. -
Where he's looking is freaking me out. Just to the left of my soul.

Even photoshop won't let Tom and Jack get too close just yet.
-
Meaning we'll lose them. Although I was sure we'd lose last night, bit of heart and luck was refreshing. This has been such an entertaining season.
