Yeah not sure I agree with that entirely. There were a few things that prevented us from winning the football game but the D wasn't one of them. Bosa and Warner balled out hard, D-Line hung in and while the secondary wasn't perfect they covered reasonably well for the most part. The only thing I would have liked was our rushers to get to Stafford more, obviously easier said than done. They held the Rams to 20 points, if I didn't watch it and you told me we kept that offense to 20 I would have assumed the Niners won. In the case of Kyle Shanahan I do have some questions and is the closest I'd come to delivering the choke tag to. There is now a critical mass of data showing the weird mode he spins into in clutch times. 6 mins left with the lead we go pass, pass, pass, 4th and 2 we take a delay of game with timeouts to go (Mind you Rams had none left at this point), running that stupid play with Trent Williams in motion that has not worked once and lastly Deebo touched the ball once in that last quarter, inexcusable not to use the skilled players when the game is on the line. In the case of Jimmy G maybe, I'd like my 137 million dollar QB to be able to make at least one play when it counts on those last 3 drives/to Emanuel Sanders in the Super Bowl/to wide open Kittle numerous times but that's about it. Saying we choked also takes away from the performance of the Rams, they outplayed us in the end, plain and simple.

I kept re-creating it in my head on a walk this morning and trying to convince myself that he caught it. Gee wiz.

Not going to be saying a lot just yet as theres still a bit of heartbreak. Congratulations to @Gorgorothand the Rams, they played their hearts out today. Defense handled our run game and they found a little of their own. But when it came right down to the do or die moments for QBs to stand there and hit the dart board, Stafford made the plays and Jimmy didn't. Full credit. Tartt's dropped interception will stick in the mind for a very long time..
  4. Crossing everything I got. No doubting the guy's first preference is to be at MFC for a long time, if they make it happen it will be something to behold.

My plan of attack today is to follow along with the AFC score updates and then media blackout begins at 10:30am until 5 when I bowl over any women and children en-route to the car park. Have a good day peeps, looks like we've got a football game in Arrowhead..
  6. I think a few mergers were 'signed and sealed' in the 80s. Most likely on a napkin.

Saw that report circulating and a couple of journos have commented. I'll be sad if that was the last game of his career but there's never a perfect time.

I’m doing it, need to go for broke! Big chance for Burrow to go next level, tough but the possibility does exist in this universe I reckon.

  11. Hope this thread had a nice Australia Day yesterday :)
  12. Always felt like the man grew up with a certain respect for MFC in the Norm Smith days, however he had that chip on the shoulder and a desire to knock us off our perch after being passed over by us as a teen (or not brought onto the list for whatever reason). Seemed to have those residual feelings right until the end of his coaching career in my opinion and it really showed in the way he spoke about being interviewed for our coaching job. Not sure, just always felt there was a touch of disdain there.
  13. Yes, very nice change to not be on these lists.

Yeah the NFL one keeps me sane. Soccer one good from time to time but it's not quite as active as this one. Sometimes go in the MMA one but it's usually just me having a conversation with myself. But as an aside how much joy has the footy thread been this summer! Just keeps rolling on and on.

Yep, we all needed a break from the main thread in that period I think.

One of the best rivalries in football right now Gorg. I'm loving it. We're going to have our hands full in coverage, Ambrey Thomas still 50-50 and I've really liked his positioning work. Also anything that keeps that PI machine Josh Norman off the field is a plus. Kupp I'm conceding several catches to already, he's too hot right now. Can we minimise the damage from OBJ and Higbee. I don't know.

I just want to preface this by saying I'm not trying to be cynical of jinxy, but I do feel like the winning streak we have over you means very little right now and I also feel like the more you lose against a team the closer you come you beating them with learnings and stuff. If the Rams establish any sort of running game I will be very very nervous.

Trent Williams looks a day to day situation at the moment. Was on the crutches after the game. Really hope he can get up.

To put on my negative/jinxing hat on for a sec, it is all setup for the Rams to break the hoodoo against the Niners. Playoff football is different to regular season divisional games and there is some serious weaponage on this Rams team.

Underperformed at times maybe, fraud is too much though. Equal 2nd for touchdown throws in playoffs with a guy named Montana and behind another bloke called Brady who is lapping everyone at this point.
