  1. Lots of other business to deal with until then but I will be quietly chalking it in the calandar
  2. Better get those boxes ticked prontissimo
  3. Let’s just get to the bottom of it
  4. Gawn has been a bit down but still serviceable. I don’t know what it is but he seems a bit distracted and lacking focus. Needs to just work through this patch

I got an even newer idea, a bag to hold a 16 point lead. And it only needs to last 8 minutes. Would buy.
  8. Any reason why we couldn’t/didn’t?
  9. Yeah, last 10 seconds I was hoping just to kick a point I would have taken a draw as a tie breaker over the Dogs.
  10. Enjoyed! Gotta laugh.
  11. We let umpires off with the argument that players make mistakes in games so umpires should be afforded that privilege as well. Well how about standing up in the big moments? We want our players to be able to perform under pressure. I want our umpires to do the same and do their job to the nest of their ability under immense pressure. Lately it seems like they tighten up under pressure or the home crowd influence.
  12. Never said that. I’m talking about aesthetics of the game and being a spectacle to watch. I’m not sure how to explain to a newcomer a) a rule like holding the ball in the first place and b) why they are paid so often for 3 1/2 quarters and then suddenly not. Or why one textbook holding the ball on Gawn is paid then seconds later is not on Keays? Nothing to do with my Melbourne bias or anything, it’s purely my opinion on how the game looks and if anyone wants to stick their beaver-like chompers in for having an opinion on it then have at it.
  13. For me the umpiring incidents last night aren’t about whether they cost us the game. It’s the fact that they were so hot on every 50-50 call right up until the last 5 mins when they decided to swallow the whistle. it is a crappy spectacle for the fan and this not good umpiring for me, I don’t care how many people say ā€˜we love this no free kicks in the dying stages, great umpiring’ I’m sorry but those people are full of crud. We love a free flowing game but we’ve got rules in place and when a free kick is there it should be paid. If you do not like this then do something to the rules to take out all the interpretation ie abolish deliberate, pay every single tackle HtB. Not the way I’d want to do it but it needs to be black and white or shut the f up. If the shoe was on the other foot I’d be saying the same thing.

Witherden could have been a nice get. Guess we didn’t bank in Fire and Lockhart getting those injuries. Shane because the Eagles really got him for a song.
  15. Bang on, especially the highlighted. This one is on the senior players and their decision making late. Hibberd’s burn of Tmac when open was stupid, players like Max who really just needed to keep simple. May’s performance was pathetic tonight and that last contest with the ball completely evading him and ending up in Tex’s hands as he completed the mark around his shoe laces summed it up.
  16. Weid really stunk up the joint, would be nice to get some consistent games into him but he probably can’t stay on that performance.

    6. Oliver 5. Petracca 4. Langdon 3. Jackson 2. Gawn 1. Lever I thought a lot of our players stunk up the joint tonight.
  18. The one thing for sure is that everyone is looking at it differently. Which is a good thing. A lot of people are saying to chill out because we’re 9-1 which it true. The pessimist in me was going we’d save the loss for the Dogs. It’s all done now and there’s nothing we can do about it. I’m not going to be too fussed about it but I am definitely going to be fussed about how we respond from it. Do we turn it up against the Dogs and go 9-2 and still relax because of our win-loss record? At what point do we stop relaxing? All jokes aside there’s one thing I’m sure of, if we put one over the Dogs this loss will mean Jack twod.
  19. When we got a mini break at the start of the 4th and we won it off half back got it to Clarry then Trac and he just flat out dropped the ball which went back the other way. It literally felt like a 2 goal turnaround and there was steam and blood coming from my ears.
  20. Still can’t believe the chances we had to kill it off. That run through the middle where we were off and then just dropped it and turned it over which led to a goal had me tearing hair out. I also still can’t believe how easily we gave away the centre clearance after Clarry’s brilliant goal late.
  21. It’s been an hour now so I agree.
  22. First chuckle I’ve had since the siren!
  23. We all knew this was coming. The more games we won the more the balloon was being inflated. The routine of winning was becoming normal and anything less just not meant to happen. But you knew that teams drop games eventually and that it was going to happen at some point, I knew though when it was going to come it was going to hurt and be hard to deal with. Not because it’s the first but because losing when you’re doing well always sucks. You’re trying so hard to setup a good season, top 4 ideally. Losses are never fun but in this kind of season they are hard to let go. But wow, what an amazing and triumphant way to bring up loss no.1. Not in a 5 goal loss, not in a ā€˜oh we were just so off our game today, loss we needed to have’ game. But a ā€˜16 points up with 8 mins left and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against a bottom 6 team’ kind of job. No pain spared and everyone crying all the way home. The one positive thing is that the sideshow is over. This club never deals well with sideshows. Adem Yze’s game streak? Nup too much of a sideshow let’s drop him (granted he was playing poorly). So now it’s over and it’s time to move forward. The game itself. I always seem to hold the 2002 game against Freo in Perth as a reference point for a game we haven’t played all that well in and you were never comfortable but got what seems to be close to a match winning lead, then things start to fall flawlessly into place for the opposition and the dream fairytale victory right at the death. Today was one of those for me, there was never any comfort and we never looked like taking the game by the scruff of the neck. The game for the most part was not on our terms and we looked scared out of our skin especially when the Crows took the ball through the corridor. I don’t know if others are as harsh on some of our performances as me but we had some serious passengers who put in total shockers today. Had we been playing the Dogs or Port we would have been blown off the park. I would put Clarry’s game amongst a handful of games I’ve ever seen where a man has been possessed and he literally looked like he had the ball on a string. It seemed to bounce up for him and that last goal was magic. It hurts so much that he wasn’t able to will us over the line. We may not have deserved it but he deserved it. Trac was reasonable too if not always clean. Gawn was good around the ground despite a few drops and the holding the ball late, and Ed Langdon I would say were the only ones who looked like they played on a winning team. There is a massive drop off to the rest. Jetta, Fritsch, Hunt, Weid, Pickett, Jordan, May all played like potatoes. I though Gus’s game was decent, was working very hard. Lever was ok in moments, made some total balls ups though and the fans didn’t they love it. I can just imagine those numps walking out of Adelaide oval talking to their friends, their wives, their girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, brothers, sisters saying crap like ā€œHow good was it that we got one over that runt!ā€ Laugh it up you peanuts. I hope you get a bad batch of Mclaren Vale tonight that tastes like p-155. Our backline chose today to totally forget what they have done so well through the year killing contests in the air and being clean on the ground. We gave away countless goals thanks to crappy in the air stuff. Even that last Mark Walker took was stupid in my eyes. Our back line couldn’t catch a cold today, which is actually good because I’ve got one right now. And May, my god this was the most shocking game I’ve seen from him for a while. Im going to finish this here because now I gotta find some way to get my mind of football for the rest of the evening. What a cruddy result, I was hoping we’d just win forever for the rest of my life. Ok now I’m getting silly. Maybe I’ll come back when I’ve cooled. I hope we are back, there’s gonna be some wound licking firs but come on Dees.
  24. Ohhh I love it!
  25. Also just in advance, can we also have a moratorium on being told to ā€˜lighten up’ or ā€˜we’re 9-1 you’d think someone died round here’ or any other cool thing that some freedom fighter wants to say? Most of us will see the light eventually but give us 1 hr at least.
