The last time I would have gone to the Baxter Tavern would have been when I was playing club soccer and we played Baxter FC at that ground in Flinders Rd. We suffered a cricket score drubbing and ended up there haha. Saw the Tatts and Angels a few times in their later years. The one thing you'd get from those gigs was a fun night that’s for sure!

I don't know a lot about Auld's direct influence up at GC to know how well or poorly he did. From the outside looking in I think even Peter Jackson would have had a tough time there in those days but I do take your point. I thought his role in the fixturing in 2020 was a decent feathers in the cap. Where Peggy O'Neil is concerned that is true but to me the club president role is a place where you can do this and get the right people in. I'm actually a bit surprised how many club presidents have been linked to this job considering governance and management are two different things. You can definitively make the transition of course and a lot of these people have management backgrounds but if you're hiring for AFL CEO you'd want a bit more than an overpriced delegator in my opinion. Not ruling it out though, the bold moves can often spark progress.

That's pretty much my take on it too. It's annoying but will likely cop the $7.
