Demons will win the flag in 2022.
Yeah we're more about the 'Moneyball' approach, which has worked well and I can still get around it. You really just need a certain level of cutting edge in front of goal and then there's no complaints. Fly does strike me as the kind of coach who would allow players' personalities to come out in their games. Embrace these guys for what they are and if they can be themselves then they can play the best footy that they can play. He doesn't seem like a coach that would plant regimen and structure into guys with a cookie cutter. The bloke deserves a lot of credit, very close to AA coach for me.

The Soccer thread
Big opening weekend. Knee-jerk thought but if I could change my golden boot choice to Haaland right now I would. This guy is one scary unit! Pace, power, elite finisher with both feet, holds the ball up well with his 195cm frame. The service he'll get from this midfield will be like xmas every game and he'll probably lay off a bunch of goals too. Will be the complete Centre Forward.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Hunt can play some real handy games but gee there's some games where all you see him do is run around in circles. I know it's not the most popular idea but maybe a stint up forward just to change things up? Ran an opponent ragged and create some space up there for the other forward to work in? Just spitballing.

Farewell Luke Jackson
We all loved that period in the Grand Final and not every player can produce that. I don't want to see him go because I do think he will be something special but we do have to be honest: How often do we see the flash in the pan performance that a club gets sucked in to and it turns out to be a total bust of a decision? I'm not saying this will definitely happen but there is a chance that it could. Selling while the stock is high wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

There's definitely a band of brothers feeling about Collingwood right now. Each player willing to put their body on the line for a teammate every time. You'd love watching this as a fan right now because it's so hard to capture this kind of synergy.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
I can't either, over the weekend I kept thinking about the last 10 minutes and last 4 goals from either side and trying to change what happened after that. Collingwood's pressure at times has to be given credit, they certainly want it right now.

The Run Home
Sydney v Collingwood is crucial. A reminder that the next 2 weeks will see a lot of twists and turns in the 8.

Who's helping to fix our goal kicking woes?
I agree with everything being said here. However if the case was as simple as this then why haven't we put everything into goalkicking practice and kicking coaches etc. The fact is that it's not just about that. On Fri we had some fairly good kicks in Ben Brown and Christian Salem miss some reasonable chances not to mention a Bayley Fritsch snap at the end of the half that he usually buries that would have put us 27 up (then bang 2 goal turnaround). Like I said, I agree with everything said here but my point is that you can bring in some of the best kicks known to man and you can still end up missing chances. A 5% improvement on this would have won us the game, there has to be ways of getting this improvement without busting the bank to bring in BT or Simon Beasley or Fred Fanning or whoever everyone think the messiah of kicking is. Whether it is maximising positioning where shots are taken, working more on the mental side or something else.

I wish there were more comments like this from Demon fans because it is true. These things are really hard to win.

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
That's right. Last year it would be fair to say that our bottom 6 players were as good as anyone going round, can't say that this year as the Cats have probably taken that mantle. It was always going to be so hard to replicate the performances of last season.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Without looking at stats, it felt like our repeat I50 stoppages count wasn't too bad. The question is, how can we lock the ball in the 50 for longer without oppositions working it out of there too easily? Is it a lack of forward pressure? Lack of height? If we kicked a bit straighter are we even talking about these problems? I dunno, it's Mon morning and I don't feel well.

Got what he deserved……
I thought what Ginnivan did to Gawn on QB was the fodder we needed to smash them on Fri but now Ed did this and we're all talking about how fired up we'll be that an ex player made these comments? It's probably true but there's way too much bull honkey flying around with this. "When all is said and done, more is said than done". Never a truer word spoken Neale, never..

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
As much as I still want to complain about the spilt milk it's done now. The requirements and in front of us now and it really is a sink or swim proposition. One thing that does comfort me a bit is that the last month of the season can turn out to be a bit of a shmoz. Team like us can look out of form but fall in to top 4 and somehow produce a performance for the ages in QF week. The there's the Dogs last year, gone for all money and bang.

NFL
You know what I want Macca? I want MFC to study the twist of fate manual of Gorg's Rams in 2021 eg Lose twice in the season to their bitter enemies, then play them again in a final and beat them where it matters making Collingwood fans not eat, but choke on the biggest humble pie ever baked thus winning the war in the long run. I'm tired of black and white prevailing over red and blue. It's like Darth Vader always winning. Looking forward to more TB12. Julio will work wonders.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
We ate humble pie then CYB. Twice in one year, to the old enemy. They laughed and made a mockery of us as well because one of our players couldn't keep their mouth shut. It, fricken, sucks.

Let's be honest, we could use a slight distraction right now.

Fading second halves
I think if the blueprint for success is there in front of you for two years I think you would copy it at least 90% actually. Having understudies working with him means that you'd be producing more coaches in the same mould. So have to disagree there I'm afraid Ham.

Jesse Hogan
CYB he gets on the park like 15 times a year at best. Back issues he'll be managing for the rest of his career and all sorts of other stuff. On top of all that he walked out on us, I do like your thinking but it's just such a reach back into the past for the answer we think we need.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
When I say we were humiliated on National television it is a figure of speech meaning this is a Friday night football game for the country to see. It doesn't mean I was not there, in the cold seeing the disaster unfold first hand, I very much was.

Fading second halves
Hearing casual fans say we miss Burgo makes me laugh. We're likely running the exact same training program as last year. To blame this on one man leaving is seriously laughable. The hunger we possessed last year, you know the type that goes on to breakthrough? It's satisfied, teams like Geelong and Collingwood are showing it more now, deal with it.
