  1. Not surprised, glad to hear the general feeling was upbeat though. It'swhat they need right now. Cheers!
  2. If my first question is too wordy for the show I've got one courtesy of my good mate's 8 y.o son from Fri night: "Why are Collingwood so smart when they kick the ball into their 50 and Melbourne are so dumb?"
  3. How was everyone looking spriit wise? I'm sure they were just as annoyed as us.
  4. It's a major concern considering we owned the 3rd quarters for a long time there. Don't know what it is but we do not look as fit right now and maybe a break will help but something isn't right.

While I still think it's a slightly out there thought, there aren't many options out there that would come cheap. Still leaning towards no but not totally dismissive.
  6. He should but sometimes we don't live in shouldland.
  7. Cripps out would be handy but after saying that with Adams I'm not sure this is a healthy mindset to have.
  8. For me, if MFC can win a game that is there to be won, a game not totally going our way and on our terms but we end up pinching it. One that we lead at every change and then hold off a challenge, that would go a long way to restoring my belief.
  9. I'd say there would be some teams into Thommo.
  10. We had a chance to go over 4 goals up when Bayley had that close range snap that he missed and a 2 goal turnaround followed cutting the margin to 17 at HT. We had a 3 goal lead late in the 3rd quarter with yet another chance to consolidate (can't remember who missed) but the Pies ended up snatching two late goals to pull it back to single figures at the last change giving themselves a real chance. The game really felt like one where we would threaten to break it open but Collingwood would somehow minimise the damage with a 50-50 chance turned into a goal and this kept them in touch. It's happened a lot this season, there's been multiple games where a series of things needed to happen for us to lose the game from the seemingly winnable position we've had. Do we need to take a good look at why this is the case? Possibly on the mental side? If this was any other team I feel like the media would be branding us 'chokers' every week.
  11. I really think it's about qualifying for the tournament right now. If we punch that top 4 ticket, we're as good a chance as any. I don't care what the stats are about 4th never winning or whatever. We just need to punch that ticket, it's a new ball game come finals.
  12. I guess history has shown anything can happen in Collingwood v Carlton games.
  13. Wait a minute........ no. Actually hang on a second............................................ no.
  14. This is a bit exciting! Sounds like a true toiler, winder if he kicks better than dad? 😛 He does! Gee time flies, I remember being at a Swans game on Sat night in 2014 and was sitting near Doggie and the boys. They were mostly playing on an Ipad for most of the night haha.
  15. Get on over Gonzo! It was a rough night and after reading these comments I'm not surprised. It's not a friendly rivalry and more often that not things are in a gutter. As soon as that siren went I ****bolted to the exit and to the bridge. We might have been shown up on the night but the one thing I'll say is never be ashamed to be an MFC fan, you're all heroes in my eyes.
  16. Yeah we're more about the 'Moneyball' approach, which has worked well and I can still get around it. You really just need a certain level of cutting edge in front of goal and then there's no complaints. Fly does strike me as the kind of coach who would allow players' personalities to come out in their games. Embrace these guys for what they are and if they can be themselves then they can play the best footy that they can play. He doesn't seem like a coach that would plant regimen and structure into guys with a cookie cutter. The bloke deserves a lot of credit, very close to AA coach for me.

Big opening weekend. Knee-jerk thought but if I could change my golden boot choice to Haaland right now I would. This guy is one scary unit! Pace, power, elite finisher with both feet, holds the ball up well with his 195cm frame. The service he'll get from this midfield will be like xmas every game and he'll probably lay off a bunch of goals too. Will be the complete Centre Forward.
  18. Hunt can play some real handy games but gee there's some games where all you see him do is run around in circles. I know it's not the most popular idea but maybe a stint up forward just to change things up? Ran an opponent ragged and create some space up there for the other forward to work in? Just spitballing.
  19. We all loved that period in the Grand Final and not every player can produce that. I don't want to see him go because I do think he will be something special but we do have to be honest: How often do we see the flash in the pan performance that a club gets sucked in to and it turns out to be a total bust of a decision? I'm not saying this will definitely happen but there is a chance that it could. Selling while the stock is high wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
  20. There's definitely a band of brothers feeling about Collingwood right now. Each player willing to put their body on the line for a teammate every time. You'd love watching this as a fan right now because it's so hard to capture this kind of synergy.
  21. I can't either, over the weekend I kept thinking about the last 10 minutes and last 4 goals from either side and trying to change what happened after that. Collingwood's pressure at times has to be given credit, they certainly want it right now.
  22. Sydney v Collingwood is crucial. A reminder that the next 2 weeks will see a lot of twists and turns in the 8.
  23. I agree with everything being said here. However if the case was as simple as this then why haven't we put everything into goalkicking practice and kicking coaches etc. The fact is that it's not just about that. On Fri we had some fairly good kicks in Ben Brown and Christian Salem miss some reasonable chances not to mention a Bayley Fritsch snap at the end of the half that he usually buries that would have put us 27 up (then bang 2 goal turnaround). Like I said, I agree with everything said here but my point is that you can bring in some of the best kicks known to man and you can still end up missing chances. A 5% improvement on this would have won us the game, there has to be ways of getting this improvement without busting the bank to bring in BT or Simon Beasley or Fred Fanning or whoever everyone think the messiah of kicking is. Whether it is maximising positioning where shots are taken, working more on the mental side or something else.
  24. I wish there were more comments like this from Demon fans because it is true. These things are really hard to win.
  25. Haha well put HBT!
