So we start this quarter with the ball in their forward line for most of it and they goal. This is stuffed

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Don't blame the ground, we're on the [censored] beach right now. Smacked in the middle, smacked in 50-50 balls, some of the weakest efforts going round. Classic case of thinking it will all just happen, the overconfidence was on full display when Kozzie decided he was better than the system. Handed the Saints the momentum and barely had an I50 for the rest of the quarter. But believe it or not, while the damage should be done it's not quite yet, have to do it the hard way but please come out with fire.

Don't you just love these MFC games where we hand the other team momentum, they pulverise us and then our star players forgot how to kick a goal from 15 metres out

It's ok to start games slow, you can't always play 4 quarters of footy. Damage control is important though, the last 3 goals weren't necessary and if you aren't careful the game is over before it starts.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I've seen enough from AJ to give him a few more games. We were crying out for a pack splitter and someone who gets it to ground for so long, he's not the perfect solution but I'd take his endeavour over others without it right now. I can see him giving Max a bit more of a chop out as we get into the mid year dead of winter games and I have faith he'll hold his own. A goal a game would be nice but let's stick with it for now.

The Soccer thread
No sleep this morning. Went in to the Imperial to see us lift the trophy then went straight to work, god almighty I feel like every decision I've ever made is a joke right now but worth it! A lot of talk about the United and Villa game. I didn't see the incident but whether or not it cost them a place in the CL, the PGMOL is simply a joke.

Stats File - 2025 edition
+23 from post-clearance possession and in particular +12 from post clearance loose-ball get is quite astounding as the Swans are typically excellent in this area. Score from turnover is an amazing result, as is 40 points from defensive half considering the season average is 26.4. But the one that I loved was scores from stoppage, 43 from all stoppages and 15 from centre. +9.6 and +1.8 on the season averages respectively. With all things clicking into gear with the gameplan, this area would be the thing that sends things into turbo mode. If we lift the average by 10 points a game then I feel we could outplay a lot of teams on the back 9 of the season. I could be thinking too simplistic but this would be like maintaining good pressure.

No-one can de-throne the Wizard. But if Kozzie stayed here his whole career he'd have the best shot of anyone.

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Just this year? Reckon it's been happening for at least the last 3. Couldn't bounce it anymore so that got ditched. Next they will go last touch free kick for convenience. Just give boundary umps a big lacrosse stick to launch it back into play with 100% success rate, problem solved.

I'm really proud of his performance. You can't fake desire when you have 12 tackles in a game. If he can get back to somewhere near peak fitness watch out!

PODCAST: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I thought this was Clarry's best game of the season and possibly the last two seasons. 31 disposals, 8 score involvements, 25 CBAs, a goal but here's the kicker... 12 tackles and 22 pressure acts! People were right to criticise earlier in the season when he simply didn't look like he could last a whole game but if you ever needed evidence of his endeavour, this game was it. We'll hopefully see his ability to run out the game improve as the season goes on.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Unfortunately I couldn't make it to this one in person either Gonzo it was Gran's birthday so I won't be much help on field setups and positioning but from the TV it did look like we went back to more full press and suffocate higher up the ground, but it could have also been that our pressure was really good. We scored 6.4.40 from stoppage and 2.3.15 from centre bounce. I think our gameplan and looking to rebound from defensive 50 is taking shape but I can't help but feel that score from stoppage was the secret sauce in this game, especially during the key stages in the 2nd and 3rd where we would instantly respond with an I50 entry from the bounce. The delivery of the footy was on display today and very few unnecessary Dr Stangelove entries. And our forwards moved! 12.10.82 from turnover and 11.10.76 originating from the forward half would support your thoughts as well. We played with more confidence and dare today, it's amazing the difference confidence makes. 6 weeks ago we were completely bereft of it, now it looks effortless at times. You can't turn it on and off like a tap but when you have it, strap yourself in! Oh and obviously thanks to @WheeloRatings for all those stats.

82 points from turnover, 43 points from stoppage. And 40 of our points originated in the back half. The metrics are all there to show that the gameplan is starting to take shape but the 43 points from stoppage (15 of which were from centre bounce) was one of the things I was most stoked about in this game and the spread of clearances - Pickett 6 clearances (3 from centre), Salem 6 (3 from centre), Petracca 2 and 2, Oliver 3 and 2, Gawn 7 and 1, Langford 3 and 1 and many more. It may very well have been the best midfield spread performance we've had in a while. My question is, our ascent back up the ladder can definitely be put down to the gameplan starting to click but for this team, could consistent clearances and scores from stoppage be the cherry on top and the multiplier effect that could take us further? Is the sky the limit for these Dees?
