  1. The reason is we have players good enough to play well at VFL level but are not AFL standard. The little difference this year besides Rodan, Pederson, Macdonald and Couch most or our VFL team is under 22 years old. would like to see Toumpas spend a month at Casey to really show us what he can do, bring him back into the AFL side after the bye. There is plenty to like about Hogan, Fitzpatrick, Barry, Kent, Taggart that hopefully will translate to AFL level over the next 12 months.
  2. nothing new from Cale, we are all aware that when Neeld took over he got a shock on how far our back our preparation was. The plan that Neeld has followed was increase work load with year 3 pre-season the target to have the list at AFL top level fitness.
  3. WE HAVE NO ONE TO COME IN THAT WILL MAKE US A BETTER TEAM. Fitzy great bring him in and let him catch a cold up forward, we went inside our forward 50m arc 25 times, until we can get players that can win the footy and get it inside our forward 50m arc 50-60 times a game we have no chance competing over the next 2 weeks.
  4. We had 1 AFL standard midfielder playing yesterday, only 1, Trengove is cloase to making that 2 but needs more consistancy winning the footy. No team can compete with 1 quality midfielder. We play 4-5 small forwards that can't run through the midfielder, only Davey over the past 2 weeks has shown that he can spend time in the midfield, Jetta, Tapscott, Byrnes, Bail, put us four players down straight away, they don't impact the game on any front they don't give us forward pressure, they don,t impact the score board and they are unable to go through the midfield. The issue is at the moment we have no one to come in and have an impact, no one is ready for next week. We can bring in Fitzpatrick, MacDonald and Toumpas but the is card shuffling and will not make us more competitve. I feel sorry for Mark Neeld, he may be a good coach but he will never find out, he has got the worst midfield group in the AFL by an absolute mile. Give him the year, after this week and the bye week we start to get players back, Sylvia, Grimes, Clark, Viney, McDonald, these players do make a difference the last two are still young but are better than anything else we have. We have 5-6 games against bottom 8 clubs in the last half of the year, these games should decide Neeld's fait.
  5. two changes In Watts, Byrnes(if fit or Blease) Out Toumpas, McKenzie Line up Strauss Frawley Sellar Terlich Garland Dunn Davey Jones Evans Trengove Howe Watts Jetta Dawes Gawn Jamar M Jones Magner Bail, Byrnes, Nicholson, Tapscott I reckon Bail needs to be turned into our defensive midfielder. He can run, reasonable speed, to me a better option than McKenzie.
  6. Not going to jump onboard the small steps band wagon after 1 half decent game against a top 8 team. The underlying concerning fact is since 2007 we can't get enough footy and enter into our forward 50m arc enough. If Richmond had kicked straight they would have broken us by half time. The back 6 were great, the front 6 scored well, the midfield was smashed. What we do at the moment is get the footy and try to hit up a leading player, usually a leading forward onto the wing, if we get possession we have to stop because there is no one forward of the footy. That wing possession should be midfielders working from behind the footy, same as when we switch, great option opening up, but we don't work to create the next possession, to me this is two thing confidence that you will be rewarded for work and confidence that we don't turn it over, we don't want to be to far from our man if we turn it over. Yesterday the effort was there but until we gain the confidence that our team mates will execute the skills we will struggle and good teams like the three we have coming up will smash us.
  7. One thing I found amazing yesterday was we huddled for point kick ins, no issue most of the players went to one side of the ground good plan get numbers around the footy, but the amount of times we kicked to the other side of the ground was just stupid, we kicked long to a 3 on 1 their way, as soon as the ball hit the deck they had open players everywhere. Just silly, the plan was in place but we went the dumb option.
  8. Davey wasn't behind the ball he played forward and in the midfield, what Aaron did was decide to work hard
  9. As Neeld once said we need to got onboard the reality bus, the reality is he is right, whether he can coach or not is another question, but we are 3 to 5 years away from finals footy. Wee will compete longer each year just not long enough to be a finals contender.
  10. Why not it would be great to see Nicholson, McDonald, Frawley, Fitzy, Garland and add in Joel MacDonald, our forwards and mids will love the ball coming out of defense
  11. Cam Ling this is the guy we need to add as an assistant
  12. There was one other game win that stuffed us right up, Western Bulldogs 2007, Jeff White's 200 or 250 the only game that he had a kick and talk about tanking this is the game we needed to lose, the old sliding door what if, we lose we get Watts and Nic Nat in the 2008 draft, one memorable win that cost us so much.
  13. My last real positive memory is 2010 v Sydney at the MCG, we took a good proud team apart. Paul Roos greatest loss as a coach it was magic.
  14. 1) Because and income is better than no income 2) A coaching pay cheque is bigger than the pension cheque 3) They have nothing better to do The question is how long do we allow a coach to re-build a list, Bailey had 3 years, Neeld will get 1 year, You can't count the first year as coach because they basically get want we have with a few draft picks and trades. Second year its your list that you are shaping. I also think Sylvia, Watts and Frawley will not be playing at the MFC next year.
  15. Cards no need to worry, that didn't work so we are reverting back to the last thing that did, we are relocating back to the Junction. It is believed the Possum [censored] and rat sh*t is character building. The players are looking forward to having Rat Sack in their lockers, they have been killing coaches for the last 10 years, killing a few rats should be easy. Peter Jackson will also relocate to oversee the rat killing program.
  16. Yes serious, read through the entire post makes sense, will our young players learn more by getting thumped each week or playing together at Casey trying to build a winning culture. I tend to agree with the poster, what can our young players learn for getting beaten badly each week. Geelong the greatest team over the past 10 years did that, they sucked not as bad as we do but the did I can't remember the exact year but all their young recruits player in a winning VFL grand Final, over the next couple of years these players formed the basis for what we have seen from Geelong over the last 10 years. Last evening showed we had a large percentage of our players that only cared for themselves, this is unhealthy for the players that we need to be our future, so yes lets play these selfish footballers in the AFL and build a culture below them that is based around the team, winning and the enjoyment that comes with that.
  17. I have never left a game feeling hollow, no anger, no passion, nothing, I just didn't care and all I could do in the last have was laugh and make jokes on how bad we are. It is not only the players that are giving up the supporter base is to and we have losing a generation of supporters. The club gained a generation through the late 80's, 90's, and early 2000's this was shown in our attendances and growth in memberships, now all those kids that have turned around 6 after 2007 will be gone, some will stay loyal because they want to be around dad but that will be short lived once they hit their teens and we still suck. The funny thing is that we are getting more media coverage than ever, all for the wrong reasons. New Balance is a high performance brand they will leave us when their contract expires, Opel is now associated with a bad brand you can't have that when you are entering into a market, in fact every sponsor we have will be considering if they want to support the MFC. In 2010 we came out and smashed Sydney and we were 3 years into a rebuild and Sydney was on the slide, so we thought, 2012 they win a flag and we have returned to the bottom of the table with no glimmer of hope.
  18. He would want at least 4 weeks, he doesn't want to play against Richmond, Hawks, Freo, Pies come back after the bye with Clark, Trengove, Grimes
  19. The better news, we get to play some good teams over the four weeks, Richmond, Freo at Subi, hawthorn and collingwood, we could have an average losing margin of 186 over the next 4 weeks, if the hawks want to they can beat us by 200. What coach would want to take over facing this.
  20. Last time Clark rucked it put him out for 8 weeks, we went small last week and it back fired, to me we picked a team last week to try and counter carltons run it worked in patches but we had no one to kick to deep forward
  21. Sellar comes in as a tall forward, they prefer him to fitzpatrick for this week. I dont mind adding two talls, it adds balance to our forward line and you can see this is the structure neeld wants going forward two key forward talls, a goal kicking ruckman, a couple of defensive smalls and a marking midsize player, i see our forward line up Tapscott Dawes Gawn Howe Sellar Bail back half of the year put Clark in there, the team is drilled on the set up.
  22. I would like him on the outside, we focus for the need of inside midfielders we need some on the outside. If I was Chris Dawes on Sunday I would love seeing the footy in Tapscott or Sylvia's hands kicking inside 50. Tappy is hard doesn't mean he has to play inside.
  23. Now Trengove and Grimes out, I think we introduce 2 talls to get a to me it looks a bit more balanced, enough run with some targets, ideally have Kent as sub and if the three talls up forward doesn't work sub on out early in the third quarter Tapscott Dawes Gawn Howe Fitzpatrick Bail M Jones Jones Byrnes Nicholson Garland Terlich Strauss Frawley McDonald Spencer Dunn Sylvia McKenzie Kent Evans Viney
  24. What we dont want to do is play at another teams ground. The reason geelong mark so much money is they control the oval, they get to sell the signage, contract out the catering, Get turnover from beer sales, sell the corporate boxes, have a social club, all this adds to the bottom line. Go to princess park or punt road all this money will go to carlton and richmond, we might get a bette kick but the afl would just be adding to the bottom line of these clubs. Casey is a good option for us, as long as we control the ground.
  25. This is where we have conflict, if we as neeld speaks about this rebuild then we need to play Kent, Spencer, Nicholson, Strauss they need a real stint not just one week give them all 3 to 4 weeks unless they show signs of real distress playing at this level. Leave toumpas in the twos for a couple more weeks to ensure he has full confidence and great form and in a few weeks you rotate the Younger players, give them a good taste, if they play well keep them up but after a few weeks if they are still struggling send them back. In Dawes Out Grimes
