  1. yes 3UZ with the late Don Hyde and yes 30 seconds was about it! 6 games on a saturday followed by Football inquest on 7 Good days. Players would roll up to football inquest for interviews all smashed and bandaged up!!
  2. Nail on the Head there Roost it, The AFL have started all this knowing full well what would/will happen, & they are also their own self appointed judging panel. And yes they do want their instant (just add Cash) new clubs in the finals as soon as possible, for that too happen something has to give. i don't own a crystal ball but i have a feeling the AFL Clubs are going to go to war in the next 12-24 months if this situation is left as it is. Still waiting to hear what Vlad has to say, or is he on vacation leaving Anderson in charge??
  3. For the Record I totally agree with the Johnstone trade, but i can understand people debating it considering the state of our present forward line.
  4. The Goals do not matter so much, i hope to see a little chemistry just start to grow between Wonna & L.J. on saturday. Just a flash will do
  5. only 3 UZ was worse, cutting to the next race as Robbie Flower Lined up a kick!!! AAArrggh!
  6. I Find the Situation with Dunn (& to a lesser Degree Matt Bate) but Mainly Dunn-He came into the side as a fairly good forward line was starting to tire & since has been around a forward line & Midfield that has been sub standard. Because of this i don't think we can really ascertain where Lynden Dunn is in terms of his career yet. There is something about him i like, & i want to see him play once the midfield is up and gaining confidence. Lynden Dunn needs a few consecutive games, sure he has to earn them but i hope it happens. We need him, he could be the loose cannon up forward. Play a Blinder Dunny....7 Goals over there!!!!!
  7. The Aussie & L.J combination begins 6 March 2010. Could be worth remembering that date from humble beginnings.
  8. Good news, it will be the Crows versus some other team we know nothing about, or the team Scott Thompson left to come home!! Memories of 3GL in the 70's Geelong v Who Cares!!! Anyway better than nothing, hope we win and ruin the 5AA broadcast !!
  9. You raise some good points and i think i am on a similiar level of thinking. The TJ trade can be debated, but you gotta spend money to make money. It does leave a major hole in our senior list though, which somebody must fill if we are to improve this year. I am not going to get overly concerned with anything until the season starts proper (if i need to of course!) The team is still Training. Yes we must start the improve or else we will be stepped on and nobody but we MFC supporters will care or notice it even happened.
  10. 114 players make an extra 2 million now yes, but how many players will make 8-10 Million in 5-10 years time? This scenario is not going to go away-it will get bigger, if it doesn't i will be absolutely Gobbsmacked staggered. The Push for Free Agency is being run by the Players Union. Most of the third player payments may represent Boot deals today but as GC 17 & GWS get closer to being real, i doubt they will stay that way. These clubs have $$ to spend & they will spend it. Player Managers are going to be sniffing out every $ they can within 2 years. It all Depends on how Hard the AFL wish to police it all.........
  11. You could be well right there, Round 1 is when it all starts- i have been thinking about that strategy since the Freo Game. Bailey does keep mentioning Game time for the list. i hope to see a lot of "first game for the year players" in the side. Welcome back Dunn & Wonna-Fire Up Boys-Cement a Spot.
  12. I think these 3rd Tier Payments are a little larger than a standard Boot Deal. Very Effective way to Reduce the League back to 12 Teams IMO 22 rounds play each other twice) I have heard rumblings that the next TV deal will be nowhere near the $ Billion figure that was touted last year. The cash is just not there in free to air television-shall be very interesting to see what the figure is
  13. To travel down the said escalator is to taste & feel the Rich tapestry that is the Melbourne Football Club Demon. The AFL Ladder is merely a representation of our workplace, that displays our conquests. And remember Fire always points to the sky & heat will always rise....
  14. No, i would be far more interested in what happens in the first 5 rounds at the MCG. One good performance at the 'G and all the NAB Cup form will be instantly forgotten. Practice games are just that. Players maybe out of position or still practicing training drills. Yes it would be great to get a win for morale over the next 2 weeks, but it is never critical. Round 1 is when the journey begins-Nab Cup shall always be no more than a dress rehearsal.
  15. You said the word "Telstra Big Pond" that says it all. Useless organization, sad because they were once the best in the world.
  16. Good, now everybody get off Dean Bailey's back and let us all support him. He is doing a very Tough Job, so let us show some unity. If Lyon does not have the passion he wouldn't be good at the job anyway. He is best mates with our senior people at the club, & always will be. The Dream is over....
  17. I Thought Maybe the Club could use this idea as well!!
  18. Brad Miller will be a very valuable player for us once the ball is delivered to him Bullet fast from the mid field. Let us not forget that the Ball coming into the forward line over the past 2 years has been pretty bad, if it comes in at all.
  19. Hey i can tell by what you write, you are a most passionate supporter of the MFC mate-We do not want to lose you because of NAB Cup Games...
  20. Hold it Hold it....When Have Port Melbourne or Freo done well in an AFL Season?? Seriously JC 31 you need to lie down and do some deep breathing meditation...and don't think about free agency or you will explode!!
  21. It's not fear mongering when the Geelong Football Club & the Collingwood Football Club are screaming!! Sorry to ruin your day, it is actually a reality check. You say it is incredibly difficult to see how it will effect us, so in your eyes let's just sweep it under the carpet and have a cup of tea!!! Sorry, i want to see the MFC Prosper & the rules have just changed over the last 2 weeks. The club & supporters are going to have to fight bloody Hard to win this one. It Can be done, But the odds have just got tougher.
  22. sure but you take out those 3 experienced players right now & we would be fresh meat for every club in the AFL. My major worry is that we are 12-18 months behind where we could be. After the 2006 Fremantle Finals Game the cleaners should have gone right through the club. The only thing that happened was more Band Aids were applied. Thank God Jimmy & co arrived when they did. My major worry is that we do not have years up our sleeves before the Cash starts pumping again. The Socialist days of the AFL Competition are over, as of about 10 days ago when all this 3rd tier payments became public..Even Eddiewood is scared of this one. Can the MFC afford another year near the bottom with all that is going on? It is a big ask of all the supporters. I do not know the answer but i am worried.
  23. Yes i wondered that, When has ever the Captain been removed from a stats run down to give it more cred?
  24. The whole process has already started, no point waiting till 2012-This club has been reactive for to long. Free Agency is only part of it, it's the 3rd tier payments i think we need to be more worried about-those figures can be anything.
