Phil Scully offered GWS gig in November 2010!
Tony Tea replied to bing181's topic in Melbourne Demons
The $cully camp put off contract negotiations with Melbourne in August 2010, so it is reasonable to assume - in fact you would be naive to assume otherwise - that GWS approached $cully's people before then. Or, to look at it from another perspective, $cully was considering leaving Melbourne a bare 10 months after joining the club at the end of 2009. $cully's entertainment of a GWS offer last August (with the Fill $cully sweetener tossed in last November) lessens the impact of any talk about disenchantment with Melbourne over the China trip post-season 2010, club turmoil in 2011, or any other of the spurious reasons that supposedly contributed to his decision to defect to GWS, which are essentially just garnish to excuse his treason. -
Did Mark Neeld say that Melbourne are going to go after seasoned players in the draft, rather than speculate on youngsters? Not saying that I would draft Medhurst, but he semi-fits that profile. Bit old, maybe, hasn't played AFL for a while, but if he nominates I am sure we would look at him. (Before rejecting him.)

Love this: Which makes me wonder how many of Melbourne current lighter-bodied outside players, of which there are several (too many?), will make the cut under Neeld.

Two $cully articles in the papers bagging Melbourne and yet Greg Denham did not bag Melbourne once on SEN with KB. Wonders will never cease. What next? Australia rolled for 47?

Telegraph. Just like a Miller handball.

Brad Miller was "acrimoniously" cut by the Demons. Sorry, that's a canard, not a cliché.

A lot of people write "should of".

Should of / could of / would of should be ditched in favour of should have / could have / would have.

Mark Neeld on SEN Breakfast 4 November
Tony Tea replied to Rolling Stone's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dunaden has twice as many legs and did the distance in about half the time. #FootyMaths (an arcane and esoteric science only a few of us are privileged to understand) says that sounds about right. -
Mark Neeld on SEN Breakfast 4 November
Tony Tea replied to Rolling Stone's topic in Melbourne Demons
To put 3200 metres in 10 minutes into (a kind of) perspective, the 3000 metres world record is 7 minutes 20 seconds set 15 years ago. -
Wet Toast.

The way KB was laughing (and occasionally snorting) after Venom's comments, I get the impression the whole thing has become a wind-up.

Denham totally and utterly over-rates Aussie. -

According to Denham Melbourne has made a massive blunder by letting Aussie Wonna go and then not chasing him harder. Melbourne should go up to the Tiwi Islands to convince him to come back. We have splurged $750K on Clarke, but are not prepared to spend a few hundred not to chase Aussie. (Don't know where he gets the $750K figure he keeps reciting.) Denham is "frightened for people who barrack to Melbourne". "Totally unprofessional." "I'd be embarrassed if I barracked for Melbourne." -

No Neeld, but plenty of Denham getting stuck into Melbourne... again. -
