No. Why would Collingwood give up 11 and another pick for 17 and a 27/28yo who is closing in on 200 games? The filth aren't that dumb. If the deal looks good from your point of view, it won't come to fruition. If Brad decides to leave for Collingwood, it will likely be for pick 29.

You know once trade week finishes, we'll all have withdrawal symptoms until the ND and the PSD. I hope there is positive news with respect to our clash jumpers and Casey before then.
-
True. Clarkson reportedly travelled to Sydney today to meet with O'Keefe. If this deal can get knocked over by midday tomorrow, the dominoes may start to fall for the final day of negotiations.
-
Both good points QueenC. I think the AFL will cop a bit more criticism at the conclusion of trade week, the way things are going. After nearly 3 days, it looks as though only one deal is close to over the line. That's Adam Thomson.
-
Should be a good fit at Richmond..
-
Great to read that Casey scorp. Once they start their training at Casey, media exposure will start. I heard they had a council meeting last night from a news report concerning the Methane Gas problem - Do you know or have you heard if their was anything raised at all with respect to the Mfc last night?
-
Carlton would have by now enquired about every and any player, including the weather report. Whatever it takes to get warnock over the line.
-
Point is, it looks as though the 1st trade has been done in trade week- as reported on SEN. Other than that, there is no point apart from a bit of additional draft history for Thomson. & CAC. What's yours?
-
Realistic? I think not. If you were coach, there would be one thing guaranteed at least. That is we'd get another wooden spoon. Adam Thomson's gone to Richmond.
-
A very interesting point there Redleg. Surely the two clubs are big enough to sort it out themselves. The situation may have come to boiling point. Harvey & Ratts must have renewed their rivalry, neither wanting to give an inch. It's beautiful.
-
Apparently a third round draft pick (Pick 42) for Adam Thompson from Port to Richmond. He was drafted by Port as a 1st round draft pick in the ND.
-
Crossing my fingers it is a sign that we land Warnock, certainly not getting my hopes up though. I'd love it if White ended up at Carlton and we got Warnock thanks to Freo holding firm.

Shape up or pay price, warns Melbourne's Dean Bailey
H_T replied to QueenC's topic in Melbourne Demons
Starting Pre-season training in November last year was a bit of a blunder. -
Hopefully he comes back to pre season training in good nick, and is a well oiled running machine, with a fairly good motor for the start of the 2009 season.

What does Melbourne need to do next year???
H_T replied to Devoted Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Firstly, I encourage you to buy that membership and stick with the Dees, for the only way is up. Expect a little more pain next season, as there will be a new look Demon outfit, predominantly very young side who will still have many players with their "L" plates on for AFL senior level. They'll still be learning Bailey's game style and each others game, but they'll be keen to impress after a poor 2007. Calabrese boy describes it well, don't expect alot of improvement next season, but expect exciting glimpses of things to come. It's really a New Era we are embarking on. Next season we need all on board, we need supporters to attend as much as it is possible, to support these boys next year. -
Reading the quotes from Geoff Walsh in that link, it comes accross as if Brad Green doesn't know whether he wants to leave or stay. For god's sake Dees if he's contemplating on leaving and considering turning his back on the club that gave him an opportunity, at the age of 27 - going 28, just trade him. Girls must think he's an absolute nightmare at the movies when they ask him what flavoured Choc Top he wants....they'd miss the opening credits of the movie! edit: Collingwood's 2nd pick is 29 by the way. This is around Green's market value. I would prefer early 20's, but in this draft, pick 29 could be just about it.

Hear Hear. Keeping the bastards honest. Freo, stand your ground.

I can't believe the AFL are involved in this deal. Wonder if Mike Fitzpatrick was involved in anyway after a call from VISY. <_< (Pure speculation- written and authorised by HT)
-
Jury is out on this one. I don't believe we will shortly become this side - a proper functioning side - for another couple of years. AN improved side perhaps - but not one that will catapult us into the eight, short term. I suppose it all depends what you refer to as a "properly functioning side" though. You may have to elaborate. Still, I look forward to the young "quality" talent that are about to commence with the Dees, whoever they be.
-
Me too. Have stated from the outset, he's not on the table. I think Laidley is giving him a kick up the backside to get him going for next year. Besides McIntosh's manager has come out and said he's not going anywhere, and he's only recently signed a 3 year deal. Too much sms-ing. Yes, I believe its a wake-up call. Speaking of wake-up calls, consider this one. Deanox and Diablo are right. You'll have to brush up on your english otherwise you will cop more abuse.

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
H_T replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watts pulled up before the 20 metre line in his sprint...still an impressive time. He was cruising... -
Yes, the Greener pastures thread....here is what I said: - I'm tipping a three-way deal here. More than likely I will be wrong . But I will go out on a limb and take a 'speculative' stab at it: - O'Keefe to Hawthorn Green to Sydney and Melbourne's third round pick (35) Hawks first round draft pick (16) to Melbourne, and second round pick (34?) to Sydney I'll await the critics..... Feel free to comment, is it a win-win-win? edit: fwiw here is the LINK Note: Roos wants a first round draft pick for O'Keefe. So the above probably won't happen. What goes to Sydney is Green + 2nd & 3rd round picks..
-
Hope this helps: - Mitch Thorp - 1 game (2007) - 5 disposals; 3 marks; 1 Goal. Beau Dowler - 3 games (2006-7) - 14 Disposals in Total; 7 marks; 2 Goals. USEFUL STATS ON DOWLER & THORP

Brent Prismall Chooses Essendon - or does he?
H_T replied to Demon_Tingles's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sob Sob Sob. Don't blame other players (in this case Prismall) from other clubs for wanting to achieve what they want (ie a Premiership), or if they want to secure their future on a better financial wicket (ie Essendon). Blame those responsible for the current position we find ourselves in. Ie In 16th position with a wooden spoon and our current list.
