  1. Firstly, with a strong Melbourne following in the Mansfield region, I hope a Mansfield supporters group is established. Secondly, yeah Wonna does look good, let's hope he looks as good if not better after they're break when they return in January. I wonder if Wonna is planning to wear those white boots next season??? <_<
  2. Best way to join as a "M-E-M-B-E-R" is either to call the club or visit www.melbournefc.com.au and follow the links provided on becoming a member. Do it as early as possible would be my suggestion. Especially if you are looking at reserved seating.
  3. Are you sure you read the magazine Stigga??!!!! I read it and it was a fantastic read WJ. But Stigga, it wasn't Craig Camerons message FFS! It was Cameron Schwab. He's our CEO. You will find Schwab has addressed our connections and roots to the MCG a number of times which have been highlighted since he began in quite a few threads including "Cameron Schwab" and the "Demon Summit 2008" threads. Can posters please get our CEO - Cameron Schwab right. Back to the thread. Yes, very positive addresses by all concerned, also a good Christmas Sale put on by the club, smart marketing just prior to the draft and with people starting to pick up Christmas gifts before the December rush.
  4. Very happy with the Vics form and progress in both the Sheffield Shield and One day Domestic format. On top of both tables now approaching the halfway mark of the '08/'09 Cricket Season. David Hookes certainly left a great workmanlike legacy behind. The Vics have the confidence to win from any position. One match that sticks out from a few seasons ago was when the Vics chased down 400+ runs on the final day of a Pura Cup game against NSW in Newcastle. David Hussey leading the charge with a mammoth innings. From that point on their confidence grew and the VICS have been more than competitive ever since. Greg Shipperd has continued Victoria's dominance in both forms of the game ever since, finishing in the one-two positions on most if not all occassions. May the VICS continue their attractive style by taking the game on and take out both forms of the game this season. How unfortunate it is to hear what has happened in Mumbai this morning. It has resulted in the cancellation or postponement of the 20/20 Championships in India. With the Victorian team set to embark on their tour of India of the Championships tomorrow night, it's disturbing news that bombings, shootings and grenade attacks on hotels, transport facilities, hospitals supposedly aimed at supposedly western society. It has also been reported that Shane Warne and Darren Berry were fortunate to hear of the news before boarding a plane in Singapore bound for Mumbai. They were allegedly planning to stay at one of the hotels where one of the bombs went off. Not only is it a shame for the Victorian team and cricket in general. But once again it is a shameful reminder to me of how society is in the world today. Situations like these just really infuriate me and is a timely reminder unfortunately of the world we now live in. As a parent, whilst it makes me angry, it just makes me all the more cautious and protective of my children, family and friends. May those who take these actions, and have said to have killed already over 90 people and seriously injured over 200 be brought to justice in more ways than one. HT.
  5. Bate or Dunn?
  6. Agree. Shoenmakers for me, has a bit of class and good skills. Strauss, I'm warming to. Lynch, I would be ok with at pick 17 or 19, having re-visited my research. Oh, yes!
  7. Fair enough then. May it be a memorable news item for the all MFC supporters, taking up all news outlets time and space.
  8. Would those readers by any chance be the ones that got booted out of the Collingwood cheer squad....of course silly me, they don't read, they look at the digitally enhanced pictures.
  9. Thats just GGGrreaat!! Now we can expect 15-odd threads on why we should draft Cousins before december 16. Brilliant!
  10. In the words of Terry Wallace (wallet)..."I'll spew up!" I'd rather a ruckman fall from the sky and land in our lap (Ie Spencer), than waste pick 19. Lynch maybe, personally Shoenmakers for me.
  11. Well done KC on the write up on the history of the Scorpions. A rather successful past. By your description it is a rather large municipality. Mark Haynes would be a decent pick up if it comes to fruition, for Casey and to help German.
  12. That would be wasting money, IMO your bet should remain alive until around Rounds 11-14, based on last seasons form that is..
  13. Nice WJ. I wouldn't hide the facts either fwiw. New Years Eve or Christmas Eve are good options. Although I would have said Madagaskar...
  14. Sidebottom is a mid. Me too. Either the Dees are expecting him to go well before pick 17 or they're being coy about Sidebottom. I believe the former not the latter.
  15. Good post. I hope your right Hannabal. If you think one of Blease, Sidebottom, McKernan and Swift will be available at 17. I'd certainly be happy with that. Of course your assertion if the Hawks take a mid at 16, is an intersting scenario. I look at Hawthorn and try and see what they will want at 16. Will they need a backman do you think? They're hard to find - Hurley a notable exception. Looking at their midfield, Lewis, Mitchell, Ellis, Young, Hodge (optional mid), with Crawford now retiring the Hawks might focus on the best availbale midfielder. I agree with most of your selections above. StKilda will be gunning for Blease. My only selection of difference would be Essendon-Carlton. I think essendon will go for Hurley, and Carlton will take Yarran. I think the Bombers will beat the Blues to the punch on Hurley. With Mal Michael gone, and Fletcher coming to the end of his tether, the Bombers will want to shore up their own defence with a Hurley-Ryder combo. Mind you, I think the Blues will be peeved. But Yarran will provide another good forward option with Fevola.
  16. Agree. But I would have said "was", not "is."
  17. Sure does, according to WJ's post. Meaning they will probably be offering $1000-1 + , I'd imagine.
  18. As I have stated before there are too many concerns and unanswered questions on Cousins. As highlighted below in the article by Caroline Wilson provided by RR. Not for any side by all reports. Indeed. edit: - Personally & sadly, I think Ben is NQR. He is living a sheltered life, he's not facing the media and letting Nixon do his talking for him. Failure to provide a hair sample for testing is a clear indication that things are not right. This 30yo former football star needs to get his life back on track and dis-associate himself from the people or acquaintances currently surrounding him. Confessing that he has been a drug addict for now 10 years - as Brisbane found out - should be news to every team that is contemplating recruiting Cousins is a serious risk. Collingwood had serious concerns after investigating, now St.Kilda. IMO he is living a life of denial and unbelievably has managed to evade drug testers. I think its time his family surrounds him and gets the help he needs, before its too late.
  19. Eddie on the rampage.... The filth....... I love it.
  20. Good observation. I saw a dozen or so of them the other night, kicking the soccer ball around. Whilst I'm glad it was a ball they were kicking, I wasn't impressed that it was a soccer ball. If I had a old sherrin I would of gone back and given it to them. They're pretty quick too... Yes. We'll see a few in the AFL by then.
  21. Yeah, me too. You would have liked Viney's tough in and under and get dirty style play too. He set the tenacity in the centre. Especially in 1998. He led from the front in the middle. Didn't have the class or the foot skills like the best of today- or even back then, but his strength in the packs he had it in spades.
  22. They've got to uphold something at least..
  23. You'd be pretty "stiff" to get pinged if you were a backman.
  24. Chris Rogers didn't harm his aspirations to return to the Aussie team. A timely reminder with back-to-back centuries against WA in Perth at the WACA for the mighty VICS! Just when M.Hayden is struggling for form... VICS STORM TO TOP OF SHEFFIELD SHIELD TABLE
  25. Cannot see Hill lasting until pick 18, when he is being touted as high as pick 3!
