  1. Bennell shows promise as do alot of our players. If he continues to go missing for long periods and shy away from the hard contest we will trade him for around pick 40 or so. As I said this is only one of the options but you may have been too upset to read the whole post.
  2. It's not just this bloke but we all have an obligation to shoot out a hand when we can.
  3. How about picking up troubled players who want to change and helping them. No one really knows what is going on with Peterson and we probably never will as another talented player drops off the radar. Where I come from helping those less fortunate is a given not a choice so I look at these matters differently. No doubt he has to want it himself but you'll find very few troubled kids want to remain troubled kids. Personally I think clubs and the AFL with their massive budgets should be helping as much as possible and I'd love to see the MFC at the forefront of this. It surprises me little that neither richmond or hawthorn could help. You can harp on all you like about the club not being a hostel or such but the fact remains these kids need help and the clubs are in a position to help. So stick your reasons why we shouldn't help and maybe look at ways we can help. I'll hop off my soapbox now and let you go on justifying why we shouldn't help a troubled kid.
  4. In 3 or 4 years time when we're up and flying he'll come into his own. Needs to learn to accept impact and needs to build his engine. Could be a really good footballer or could be traded for pick 40, we'll wait and see.
  5. Clearly you would only take Peterson if there was no one better. Considering we're probably going to have several rookie picks my opinion is the club could do alot worse than Peterson. There's nothing wrong with a club putting extra time into certain players, it would happen all the time. Colin Sylvia anyone! Here's a guy with talent to play AFL who clearly has his troubles. Let's rookie him, send him off to reach and see what we can do for him. Novel approach helping others but in my opinion it's what good clubs should do.
  6. As big a fan of Garys, he still didn't cut the oranges for one R. Flower
  7. Happy to see him run into the centre, connect with Judd so he hits the deck hard, grab the ball shoot it off to Scully who then hits Watts lace out 40 from goal. other than that I think the backline is best for him. It'll be Watts who will be able to have a run through the middle if Bailey wants to mix it up, he's got better agility.
  8. Does it need to have any more credibility than that. I'm sure the players are happy to have an all expenses paid trip. Worthy reward for AA honours. Having fun is still allowed.
  9. I know he's trouble. Put in the right environment, including Jim Stynes Reach Program he may well flourish. It wouldn't be the first time a troubled soul made good. I'll bet now that Krakouer has some good people around him he'll make good on his talent.
  10. No, you're wrong, again. Back to Jurrah. Labelling him soft after such a short time before he's had a chance to play and train and really get used to a new brand of Football is still way to harsh just as starting threads about him being the "best MFC player ever" is way to stupid.
  11. Particularly harsh. He's coming from a totally different football backgroud than virtually every other recruit. The games up north that I've seen don't have the same physical intensity as the TAC Cup where most recruits come from. To call him soft after 17 pretty effective games is over the top. Does he need to get ready for some rough treatment? Absolutely. Does he need to be at the bottom of every pack to prove his worth? Absolutely not. Somewhere in the middle is where he needs to be. He's a smart bloke and will be well aware of what he needs to work on to make it at this level. He's still learning the game and to label him soft is as inappropriate as labelling him "The best player to ever play for MFC"
  12. I'd roll the dice with Peterson. His only trouble is he's trouble. Roll him up with Davey, Wonaeamirri and Liam and give him a year to get his stuff right. Worth a rookie in my opinion.
  13. ditto the jumper
  14. They also get polyester Aussie Flags to wave at Muslims.
  15. Look at this way if it makes it simpler. Which of those players would you offer a contract to? I think you'll end up where the Hawks are.
  16. You're a clown. Flower by a mile (since 1970) To say he was crippled or on a pension fund is just plain wrong. Had it not been for him no one, I repeat no one would barrack for this club and I personally doubt we would exist right now. Take him away from our sides from 75 - 86 and there was no reason to go to a Melbourne game.
  17. Good clubs on the rise don't lose their stars. We lost no one this year even though Petterd bought a villa on the GC. Why oh why would you leave the melbourne FC at the moment? Picture this: You play for a team with a great young list who plays games at the MCG in front of good crowds. A Premiership medallion awaits you playing for the oldest club in the Freakin world!!. What do you do? You don't pack the bags to play in front of 12,000 rugby fans in shitsville. Stop worrying. Success, history, a great city and the MCG is what we've got in our favour. The new clubs don't go close.
  18. Don't fear you're not alone
  19. You should be
  20. It probably means you've got better things to do than read sports pages in the off season or frequent this site. I say good for you.

  22. Waffle, Waffle, GONE!
  23. Cats are gone, anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves. Lucky to make the eight. Ablett had 40 touches against Collingwood and they still got belted. They'll sink faster than the titanic. A forward line of Mooney(32), Lonergran, Podsiadly(30) and Hawkins with no Ablett to feed it as a serious top 8 contender, no chance. Not to mention the long list of over the hill players, GONE. Check the ages of these blokes Chapman(30), Corey(29), Enright(30), Hunt(29), Ling(30), Ottens(31), Scarlett(32), Wojinski(31), Milburn(45). GONE, GONE, GONE
  24. Jeez, we've got a fair list don't we!
  25. A serious flag contender can't have Warnock on the last line. It'll be Shanahan - Jarman all over again. He just doesn't have the composure when all around him goes to shite. That draw against Collingwood when he coughed up to Jolly is a prime example. However touting Newted as a possibility - Picture this - Grand Final 2013 Melbourne by 2 points after a stirring comeback as Collingwwood led by 41 at 3/4 time. Ball spills off a pack 25 metres from Collingwood's goal, seconds remain, only Newted stands between it and oblivion. I don't know about you but I can't watch. Garland anyday of the week.
