  1. All credit for this should go to "Cadaver" on Big Footy. He has mapped where all current AFL players played their junior football. Interesting is the lack of players who have originated in Darwin...(we have one in Steven May)....the absence of talent from Alice Springs ( our zone)...and the abundance of talent from S.E. Melbourne. https://maphub.net/kdavva74/afljc
  2. Cameron, Christensen and probably Rayner as well.....why would Brisbane need Elliott?
  3. Why would Sydney want Daniher when they have Buddy for another 3 years at $1M+ per year. I'm smelling something suspicious.
  4. That's the most interesting point from the interview. Who could offer us 2 top 10 picks?
  5. Correct. Hawthorn are moving to Dingley because they know what will be needed in 10 years not 1 or 2. Essendon have set the standard. Aircraft hanger sized indoor facilities. Swimming pools. 2 AFL sized ovals. Other posters have forgotten that a stand alone VFL side needs a ground to PLAY on as well. No point having a VFL side if they have to play at Punt road/Collingwood/Victoria Park, while training at AAMI....simply pointless. The other point made many years ago that is the advantage of Casey/Box Hill type arrangements is the human infrastructure. Trainers, goal attendants, scorers, massagers, time-keepers, property stewards, door-keepers are all essentially volunteers. Run your own show, then you have to pay people to do it.
  6. This is the annual Roy Morgan "survey" of AFL supporters and membership. http://www.roymorgan.com/findings/8088-afl-supporter-ladder-june-2019-201908160718 It still has its basic problem in that it is a survey, e.g If you survey people in NSW about their favourite team they will nominate the Sydney Swans. So to extrapolate that to Australia-wide support of 1.1M supporters is simply ludicrous. That their "supporter" numbers could drop by 6% in one year should tell them their methodology is wrong......however... the best part of the article is the profile of the typical Melbourne Demons supporter: "In 2019 the quintessential supporter of the oldest football club in the land is well-educated, Victorian, and with a diploma or degree under his belt. Yes, he’s more likely to be male than female. He’s a young parent under 35 years old with pre-school aged children and likely following in the footsteps of his Melbourne supporting parents ".....etc Anyhow.....enjoy the read.....
  7. Still no Premierships for FIGJAM as player or coach! Should have stayed at the Bears, when he would have had 3 and probably 4 if he played in their losing GF side.
  8. Rowell absolutely ripping Eastern apart.....
  9. Worthwhile looking at this game again..... All Australian U18's v Casey in April this year. Rowell, Anderson, Pickett, Young, Green, Williams, Serong etc v Casey On the Big footy Melbourne site, post 234: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-melbourne-replay-archive.1144478/page-10
  10. "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results". It's a NO from me
  11. It's called list management, and salary cap. How many others are to be delisted? How much will that save in cap space? How much money do we have for other players who we might be seeking?. How much do we have to pay existing players, as their contracts mature? If you spend all your tickets before trade period, you can't seriously get involved.
  12. He was kneed in the kidney area in a marking contest shortly before.
  13. For the Suns it will be the first time they have ever played in front of a full house for a home game.
  14. Chamberlain and Ryan shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a finals match again. As Richo commented during the match "Ray should stop providing commentary to the players and umpire the match" ( He will probably get a letter from the AFL this week for being truthful)
  15. I posted this last November.....(Sadly for ProDee they didn't get up, but back to the point).......this surely would be a great solution given the lack of limitations for space at other locations, but MFC hasn't been mentioned in any articles about Caulfield.
  16. The cliff is coming for the Cats. It all looks good at the early stages of the season when the old stagers are up and running. They were the same last year in the finals against us. Selwood, Hawkins, Ablett and Taylor all ineffective. Just too old come the end of the season.
  17. No Stingrays on that list. Not hearing good stories about the development of their players.
  18. Perhaps people should read the second line, which is more insightful if true..... "And unlike the Suns, it won't be offering priority national draft assistance." i.e. The AFL HAS offered the SUNS priority draft assistance.....goodbye pick 2 to QLD!
  19. Port has 4 players only on their injury list, 1 is a test for this week , 1 back within 2 weeks. So essentially a full list. Only Brisbane is in a better position list wise. So how well should they be doing? Expect some blood letting at Alberton.....
  20. Not needed this week. Sydney used McLean last week as their starting ruck. Grand total of 9 hitouts for the game. Aliir used as 2nd option...10 hitouts. Ben Reid took a few forward ruck contests, only 9 as well.
  21. Disgraceful coaching from Cameron last night. Carey picked it up early with Hawthorn stacking the half back line in the cold and wet conditions. GWS still trying to pick the ball up instead of kicking off the ground, hand balling instead of kicking for distance, Mumford playing in forward line most of match, leaving Simpson in ruck instead.
  22. Priority picks are not the answer, and we should want no more proof than to look at our own history. IF the AFL want to help GC, then simply increase their salary cap to enable them to retain the high draft picks they have had for the past couple of years. The COLA that Sydney were given enabled them to win a Premiership, and outbid others for Franklin. One extra 17 year old player will not make the slightest difference. 2 or 3 more experienced will, or one or two of their own not leaving to go to greener pastures ( Lynch/May), thus keeping experience and skill within the club. Then when things have turned around, the extra money can be taken back, to re-level the field.
  23. And if that's the case then only 20,000 of 100,000 Richmond members turned up, same ratio. And their team is pushing for top 4!
  24. Better tell the doctors what he is in for: Steven May | Hamstring – Test Jake Lever | Ankle – Test Charlie Spargo | Calf – Test Mitch Hannan | Groin – 1-2 weeks Tom Sparrow | Knee – 2-3 weeks Aaron vandenBerg | Foot – Season Neville Jetta | Knee - Season Jeff Garlett | Shoulder – Season Kade Kolodjashnij | Head – Season Tom McDonald | Knee – Season Aaron Nietschke | Knee – Season Joel Smith | Groin – Season Sam Weideman | Jaw – Season Guy Walker | Shoulder – Indefinite Or is this proof that the hip bone is connected to the jaw bone?
