  1. Yes. Took far too long and wasn’t watching the clock.
  2. ANB just disgraceful. At least 5 goals from his turnovers and inability to pick up the ball. Missed Lewis and Fritsch to cost us 2 certain goals.
  3. Could it be next season as well....got to get it off to a good start....
  4. This could be the circuit breaker we need. Moving Victory out of AAMI would give access to that whole area north of Gosch's to build admin facilities. It would also mean Rebels could use the inside of the stadium to their hearts content, and not need an outside pitch for practice..
  5. http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/current/month/wa/perth.shtml Sorry it should have been 284mm for June and July. Still more than 3 times Melbourne
  6. The next coach in line to go has to be Don Pyke. As DD has pointed out, their captain does absolutely nothing, but so does their coach. Remember the Alice Springs game last year? All he did was stare at the players. Not a single move made by him from the 2nd quarter against the Bombers. No tag on Stringer. No-one on Tipungwuti. How many unmarked Essendon forwards got easy marks and kicks in their forward 50...Brown, Heppell etc.
  7. Perth rainfall June and July 2019 550mm, Melbourne 78mm. Those "hard" grounds in Perth haven't worried the Eagles this year or any previous years.
  8. Our percentage improved because we didn't lose by much
  9. The problem is team management. Is a half fit Brayshaw better than the options at Casey? Is a half fit Hannan/Jetta/Lever better than the options at Casey? We have Dunkley and Lockhart playing seniors. We have a 19 year old who has played 7 games in the backline, as our FF. Would they be playing in a "normal season" Casey had the following players from our list this week: Bradtke, Chandler, Jordon, Bedford. None have played AFL, Jordon had 17 touches the others single digits. Would you put these players in a side playing West Coast this week? They may get their chance in the last couple of games, not 6 rounds out. Those players need development, not a beating like was handed out to Petty last year. We have learnt the lesson. Others who may be in contention: Maynard (25), JKH(31), Baker (26). Maynard ( 1 AFL game) may be able to play in the middle but is he better than the half fit Brayshaw at the moment? The others aren't mids, and Baker was sent back in order to manage his load after playing a couple of senior games. If those were to come into the side it would probably be to replace the likes of Dunkley, Lockhart, ANB, Hannan....
  10. Neither should Hannan, ANB and a host of others like Lockhart, Dunkley, even Petty who should be at Casey being developed. But we have NO-ONE capable to come in to replace from Casey. Only 6 players out of 10 AFL listed in their side yesterday had played an AFL game.
  11. Brayshaw is very obviously carrying an injury, and has been the same all season. My guess( and it is only that) is the old OP. Look how slow he was moving into the open goal, when run down by Dunkley. This is not a player who is down on form, he is just struggling to run. For those who think he should be in the middle, think why Jordan Lewis is playing in there instead. He can run with others at the moment, or more to the point is better able to run with opposition mids than Brayshaw.
  12. Geelong are falling into their season end form again. The old bodies are falling by the wayside. If it wasn't for Dangermouse, they would be in the same position as Hawthorn, Same as last year. Hawkins has to be one of the laziest players going around. Will not run, will not contest, Brown absolutely toweled him last night.
  13. That sort of approach worked really well for the Suns with Ablett, or Carlton with Judd, or Collingwood with Buckley, or Essendon with Goddard..........
  14. People have got to get over the idea that priority picks lead to team improvement. A PP is 1 extra, potentially good player who with development, might reach that standard after a couple of years i.e it won't help the club next season and probably the season after, even if 1 player can make that difference. The next thing people have to get over is that it costs other clubs to any real extent. Pick 4 or 5 for us at the next draft? What difference will that make to us. It's not like pick 4 or 24. If the AFL are serious about helping GC ( and I am absolutely convinced there is no future in an AFL side on the GC) they should give them salary cap relief to be able to attract experienced players who can fill the gaps while they develop their younger draft picks. It helps straight away, not in a couple of years, and like Hodge at Brisbane, surrounds these kids with immediate knowledge about how to play the game.
  15. He will get another year because we already have 6 or 7 players who can't get a game in the seniors or like Lewis will definitely retire..... and we are already playing Hore, Lockhart, Sparrow etc Jones isn't holding them back.
  16. David King being put in his box by Pert over this: https://player.fm/series/series-2343030/david-king-v-gary-pert-crunch-time
  17. Definitely, and when we see the return of Neville and Hibberd, then Salem and Fritsch can be moved wingward, where we have been deficient all season.
  18. Today’s crowd number will be the perfect example of why we play games in Darwin
  19. ...because with our injuries we had to play young players who normally wouldn't have got a sniff at a senior game.
  20. Perhaps there is a small glimmer of hope, in terms of getting Melbourne Victory out of Goschs. https://www.melbournevictory.com.au/news/victory-secures-funding-maribyrnong-academy-site If they were ever to move, then that area currently used as a soccer pitch, alongside Swan st could be used to build something we need. The Rebels then can have the whole of the inside of AAMI to themselves for training, and wouldn't need their training ground outside either.
  21. How many times....how many times do people have to be told....Cricket is played on the ground 6 months of the year! Where do you do a pre-season from November to March? Then if you visit the ground during the football season, you will see lights about 2metres apart on mobile racks covering the ground after dark to make the grass grow.
  22. I suspect our "injury" list is bigger than told. Tom McDonald had foot problems pre-season, and still cannot jump properly...means he cannot mark in contested situations, and the failure to not make a 40m kick last weekend is symptomatic. Brayshaw is probably playing on the wing, because he too is carrying some sort of injury. Watching him close up at the GC game, he couldn't accelerate to get to a ball in the open, something he would have gobbled up last year. OP? Bayley Fritsch also cannot kick as far as he was doing last year. His mind still thinks he can, but the clanger last weekend as an example was because the kick was short. OP? The trouble is that these players would have normally been rested, but when we have 17 players injured that leaves us only 4 or 5 to pick from 47, including rookies. Take out Jordon, Bedford, Bradtke and Chandler as they are too young and one can really see our plight. We can barely put a team on the park, and cannot rest any of those who need it, and have no option but to play others who are obviously sub-standard.
  23. We should be picking a young player who can be developed rather than a solitary player who may be able to play this year. Our problem is injuries, so when (if) those players return, it would be unlikely for a "ready made" to get a game....i.e. a wasted pick. As well we have a whole raft of players who will retire or be delisted this year. I could give a list of 7 today who would not affect the present or future performance of the club. We don't need another one who would be added to that list. We need to think about the future, not this season, which is already shot.
  24. We have a forward line that cannot kick goals this year. Without Preuss in the side, we have to use Weidemann, Smith or McDonald or Keilty in the ruck for those 10 minutes each quarter that Max requires a rest. So we are even less likely to score during that time. Preuss provides a ruck option and a forward option. And as was seen in those last minutes of the Sydney game, Preuss covers the rucking in one half of the ground and Max sits a kick behind play to repel and defend. And when he plays in our forward line he takes the opposition biggest defender. However, if the weather is as forecast, other options need to be considered...... however limited those options are for us with our injuries.
