  1. Jurrah, Wona and prob Bennell would get a game at any other club and the other blokes you mentioned are 18 years old!!
  2. I don't think what happened today would be particularly damaging for the players. The starting 22 we name for Round 1 2010 will be significantly different to the 22 players who were on the field today, and they will all have had another full preseason. When we're playing finals in 2011 no one will remember a few irrelevant junk time games in 2009.
  3. You can get 100-1 on Betfair for the Demons to make the top 8. Put your money where your mouth is!
  4. There is no way we will beat Geelong or St Kilda, absolutely no chance. They are in a different league to us. Geelong's midfield will tear us apart, the Saints forward line will dominate us. The cats will bring Ablett back this week.
  5. I feel as though we tried not to win. Port had so many opportunities in the last quarter and they stuffed them all up. Jurrah spent pretty much an entire quarter sitting on the bench and then bloody Petterd kept slotting them!
  6. I want Jack Darling purely because of his surname (Blackadder anyone?) Imagine yelling out at the game.... 'Good kick Darling!'
  7. Does anyone know if it's possible to multi up on Liam to kick a goal and Liam to take >3.5 marks??
  8. I reckon Grimes is a strong chance to be nominated within the next couple of rounds. He is a classy looking unit. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Dees had 3 nominations last year. Can we NAB 3 in the next 11 rounds? We'll prob need to win a few games in order to make it happen. Bennell must be in with a fair chance, and if Jurrah lives up to the hype when he debuts he would have to be a smokey. Speaking of smokeys, anyone know if you can bet on who'll be nominated? Grimes has shortened to $17 for outright winner on Sportsbet even though he hasn't been nominated yet.
  9. This year we are capable of beating any team in the comp other than the Saints and the Cats. But we have to be at our best and playing at the G. I'd tend to think with a slightly more potent forward line and quicker midfield we'll start to win those close games.
  10. I am excited by Grimes, already looks like he belongs. Quality of disposal is great and he is quick. Morton always knows where to be and gets a lot of the footy. He turned it over a few times, but for the most part seems to have plenty of time and has the ability to create space.
  11. From what I understand Chris Judd is employed by Visy as an 'environmental ambassador' and is on a salary of $500k/year. Is this accurate? As much as I am a very passionate Dees supporter...it would be tough to turn down an extra $500k just to play for the team you support.
  12. However, it should be noted that 3 of these guys are 17-18 and yet to make an AFL debut....don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves yet.
  13. If you buy a membership there's absolutely no obligation to attend any matches. I'd prefer someone purchase a membership and not turn up rather than not purchase a membership at all. The club needs the money. If you claim to be a passionate supporter of the club, that's different, you should feel obliged to attend as many matches as possible.
  14. There are aspects of his game that need work. But I think he is clearly in our best 22 and with the right coaching he will continue to improve and gain confidence.
  15. Sunday twilight games are shocking. It sucks that the break even is still set at 20,000 for those matches. I went along and brought two tourists with me, what a bad introduction to AFL!! I reckon our fixturing is bottoming out this year, the AFL will give us better timeslots as our membership numbers and on field performances improve. I would imagine that Jimmy and prob also the MCC will help us out as far as improving our fixture is concerned.
  16. Sunday twilight matches usually mean that Balcony and Long room passes don't run out. For bigger matches you can pre-book them online.
  17. Newton cannot handle the pressure of top level football. Wona, Robbo, Watts etc. etc. as soon as one of those are available for selection Juice needs to be dropped. His effort is OK, he's just not up to it.
  18. Just purchased return flights, leaving Melb 8am Saturday, flying home 9.15pm Sunday. $86 incl. all taxes and charges. If anyone is an expert on Canberra nightlife maybe suggest a bar and we'll have some sort of Demonland meet up on the Saturday night.
  19. We booked flights a couple of months ago, managed to get $109 return incl. tax Melbourne to Gold Coast. There's some incredible deals for accommodation as well. We plan to include Wet n' Wild and a Gentlemen's club in our trip, can't wait!
  20. Does anyone here frequent Carrara? I'm flying up there with a group of mates and trying to work out what tickets to get. They're for sale on Ticketmaster and there's a couple of different price brackets, there's reserved seating 'under cover' and 'open' and in different stands. Not sure how much to spend or what to get.....any thoughts?
  21. Hmm. I can't form a solid opinion on Juice. Need to see more of him. Maybe he could become a Cameron Mooney type player? Take a contested mark inside 50 and then dish the ball off to someone who's a decent set shot at goal. Like Green or Watts.
  22. Does anyone know if any footage of Hughes' grab will pop up somewhere in the next few days? I'll be watching the footy show's almost football legends just in case.
  23. Watts was off to a slow start, but had plenty of the ball in the second half and looked very smooth. Nothing amazing, but considering he hasn't played for 8 months you can only expect a slow start. When he was rested late in the first quarter he looked frustrated. Bailey was sitting in the public with his kids. Schwab was floating around too. Hughes' mark was incredible.
  24. For an extra $15 the 09 Reebok media shirt is far classier. I bought one last week, very comfortable and looks good.
