  1. Thanks for understanding the point of the thread. Nathan Jones was omitted last year for his development. I suspect that Jetta will have the same fate in the coming weeks. Our young players need to earn senior games. Hopefully as stated our depth will improve consderably in the coming weeks. We have a focus of development of players as individuals, development of the focus of the team and remaining competive. Cale Morton will most liklely be a good player. If he learns to attack the football with intensity he could be an excellent player. Currently he is allowed to play on his own terms, this won't happen forever and eventually he will have to learn how to play contested football or he will fail as a footballer. When we run out on the ground in September 2013 I want to know that the 22 have been conditioned to go that they will go when it is thier turn. Its not just about Cale Morton.
  2. Mate I have no idea what you are on about. I repeat, I have not questioned the workrate of the kid, it is first class and he a has a great motor. I want him to be a good/better player. He takes his eyes off the footy, he needs to be better than that. He does it once, you give him a kick up the backside during debrief and tell him not to do it again (this has already been done once). He continually does it decisive action must be taken for his own good. If you don't believe it is necesary at this stage then we'll agree to disagree. Nothing would please me more than to see the kid come out this weekend and keep his eye on the footy the whole game and make me look like an idiot.
  3. I think you read the title of the thread and that's it. No-one has questioned his workrate or ability to gain possession??
  4. I have info that Bail is the goods and will also push for selection soon given some good performances at Casey. He is a midfielder with good pace and good disposal, we don't have too many of those.
  5. Its not enough, I saw him fail to do so approximately five or six. Its not just about Cale, its about attitude for the club as a whole. Errors can be tolerated to a point, correct attitude must be not negotiable if we are to get to the pinnacle. And I realise we have a couple of other players in our current side who don't display the correct intensity for the ball.
  6. He is ..... but so is Jack Watts. Agree with this post 100%
  7. Firstly I am not a player basher and I don't enjoy criticising one of our own. There will be some strong reaction to this I am sure but here goes. Cale Morton should not be playing senior football at the moment. He just does not have the confidence in his body to put his head over the footy and win possession. He shows all of the classic actions of a player playing with fear, taking his eye of the football at the crucial moment. I would also suggest that fear is the major reason that his disposal can be less that satisfactory. I watched Cale closely yesterday and he shirked not one or two but numerous contests. I know he is just a kid but continually shirking these contests can't be tolerated by the club regardless of the experience of the player and is much more onerous than other mistakes that are made on a footy field. Cale himself need to understand his reponsibilities before career long habits are developed. If cale doesn't have the confidence in his body then he needs to train and build up to get to the stage where he has. I understand that we have one or two others that are not physically ready for AFL footy at the moment but at least they keep thier eyes on the footy. I played footy for a long time and perhaps I am a bit old fashioned but fear and uncertainty spread like a cancer in a club and courage should be the minimum requirement for any player who pulls on our guernsey. The club is hopefully entering a period of improved depth and needs to take a stand on issues such as courage, accountabilty and workrate.
  8. Grimes, Maric and Robbo must come in!! I will be unpopular for this but I think Morton needs to learn how to put his head over the ball, back to Casey till he can do so. Jetta to the the two to get a few kicks....and Newton.
  9. Thats the one, thanks for your support. Eventually reason prevailed. Thats exactly what happened the other security guys ended up telling me that security guy was a boofhead and to sit down and enjoy the game. Absolutefarce it was!
  10. I was there with three of my kids, nearly got thrown out mind you for accidentally nearly hitting the boundary umpire throwing the ball back over the fence which was a bit embarassing.
  11. No he doesn't
  12. 5 - Davey 4 - Frawley 3 - Martin 2 - Warnock 1 - Jones
  13. I don't think I am a whinger by nature however i am getting a little annoyed at being kept in the dark about injuries to players on our senior list . I can't see any good reason for it. At various stages we have been kept guessing about injuries to Bail, Strauss, McNamara, Jurrah, and a couple of others who escape me at the moment. Some players never appear on the Injury list and others are injured for a couple of weeks before they are added. I have sent a polite email to the club asking for this to be addressed. Maybe a few others could do the same.
  14. I have a feeling about this game, a bad feeling. I thought we would win lsst week. I don't like the way we match up against the crows. They launch from thier half back line much like Port Adelaide. We have struggled to place defensive pressure on sides that move the ball cleanly and quickly out of our forward line. Still I think it is a good test for our boys. Hopefully we can remain competetitive for most of the game.
  15. Getting a bit annoyed at being kept in the dark with injuries to Bail, Strauss and now Jurrah.
  16. Was a superb coach for his time. Had a young list with a little bit of talent and formed them into a team of believers. I have a huge amount of respect for the man and the way he put that side together.
  17. Brad Miller is currently our best tall forward and has been causing headaches for oppostion backmen since last season. Last year he did well with very limited opportunity and was actually fairly accurate on his set shots. Very handy player is he, and it would not surprise me to see him retain a fwd role post Watts. If you are speaking of Steven Stretch, I like to be respectful of our players and refrain from speaking negatively about our boys. I would take Miller over 3 Steven Stretch's because I know that when we get to september Miller will live and die for the jumper. Northey was a great coach of the time.
  18. Here here, we are the mighty Demons, the Melbourne Football Club, we have been around a long time. Our pride has taken a battering but we are repairing the damage. I am fairly slow to criticise fellow Melbourne people but when opposition supporters get on our sites and attack our great club we have a responsibility to defend it. I will not allow the apathetic MFC supporter myth to be perpetuated.
  19. I dont think a lot has changed really. Some kids take years to develop both physically and mentally and some kids can play senior footy straight away. Has always happenned that way. There are a handful of kids drafted every year that seem to adapt very quickly. Wayne Carey, Tim Watson, Glen Jakovich, Rob Harvey and heaps more from memory all played young and showed something early. Can't see that there is a lot of differenece other than players and clubs are more inclined to prepare the kids better.
  20. When he is up and going he is always in our best 22. In a back pocket. Problem is he hasn't been able to consistently stay on the park and unless something changes drastically soon I fear that he and the club may feel that his spot is better occupied by a draft pick. He will be missed if he can't get going both for his physicality and the leadership he provides particularly for the indigenous boys,
  21. I am not even going to credit that with an argument other than saying that those generalisations are all a freo supporter can hang your hat on in the absence of a real argument (or a real footy club). Still reeling from that unloseable game last year methinks. Bye, go back to your club with no spirit, no pride, no plan and no history. (and pretty soon no Pavlich)
  22. Your club is a joke, if you can't see that then ..... At leats our club is headed somewhere. Obviously you are feeling a little insecure to be checking what an opposition site is saying about your footy club (i use the term footy club very loosely). We have been around for 150 years buddy, do yourself a favour and support a real club from the Wafl, one with a little bit of pride and substance behind it.
  23. Would love to have him but we won't get him. A forward line with him, Miller and Watts would give the opposition nightmares. The trade offs would be too great and chances are he will be at or near the end by the our five year plan arrives at maturity. I would suggest that if was intending to leave he will go to a club thats premiership ready.
  24. And Rohan Bail should be lining up for Casey this weekend. Have emailed the club with a minor whinge that he should be on the injury list.
  25. I read that apparently the bloke is known for being FOS.
