  1. Not trying to be alarmist, but we really need to sign Frawley up asap. Possibly for 9 years. GWS are definitely going to have a massive crack at him next year.
  2. He's possibly our most valuable player. Top stuff Chip!
  3. I like this. But I had thought GWS will take Boyd with pick 1 ...
  4. Rivers and Moloney faired pretty well in previous B&Fs and we got stuff all for them.
  5. Kevin Sheehan on Toumpas. “Jimmy Toumpas was one who had some injuries to overcome. He’s going to be a terrific player down the track.” “I see him as a leader and a prolific ball winner, whether it’s through midfield or across half back. He’s got a wonderful personality, and he’s going to be a wonderful teammate and is probably already in with the Melbourne faithful. “He had those setbacks, but just expect that he’ll get better and better as it goes on.”
  6. If true, I expect Roos would have some insight into the ability of Jed Lamb.
  7. I hope the Swans also recruit Josh Gibson, and the Waratahs recruit Kurtley Beale and James O'Connor. They can all live together in one 4 bedroom apartment overlooking Bondi - spending each recovery session in their communal spa with a couple of retail shop assistants whilst drawing new stickers on one another. We can then watch these dudes complete blow up the Swans 'no d-heads' club culture, and virtually end the legacy that Paul Roos built at that club in one fell swoop. We will also get to witness Paul Roos rebuild that club culture at the MFC. Fingers crossed, we land a Rockliff/Sloan, Savage, Cross, re-sign Sylvia, and potentially recruit Shaw, in this year's draft period. If we do, I'll be the first in the gate for next year's clash against the Swans at the SCG.
  8. I really hope it is Simpson. Is Nathan Bassett in the mix?
  9. Landing Rockcliff would be absolutely sensational. Rawlings assisted us to land Clark when he was all but over the line with Freo. Hopefully he can pull another rabbit out of the hat. With pick 2 up for grabs, head room under the cap, and Paul Roos now on board, you'd have to think there's some chance.
  10. And yet every club goes feral about the possibility of us getting a priority pick this year, having been one of, if not the, worst performing club in the history of the game, on and off field, over the last 7 or so years. This is BS. What's Tippett on? As an aside, I'd take Hogan over Franklin.
  11. Agree 100%. Perhaps even more than that in fact.
  12. If it was for a good trade, I'd be more relaxed. It's the likely lack of proper compensation that concerns me.
  13. Other things I've heard - nothing remarkable. As everyone knows, Heath Shaw will be at another club next season - possibly the Dees. I've heard it reported here that Didak has signed a two year deal with Carlton. The talk last night however is that he's off to the Crows. GWS are having a massive crack at Mumford and are also interested in landing an older ruckman in the twilight of his career from another club (eg, Jolly). GWS is definitely right in the mix for Franklin. A lot of clubs were interested in Watts. Feeling is that Roos will turn him into a superstar.
  14. I will be very disappointed if Sylvia walks. With Roos signing, I had assumed all required players would want to stay and we may also be able to jag some decent players from other clubs. Sylvia leaving is not a great sign IMO.
  15. Kevin Sheedy said last night that GWS's pick one is on the table for the right player. Perhaps they will have a crack at Fyfe. Can't believe the Nathan Jones rumour. That seems ridiculous - on a number of levels.
  16. I hope you're right as I want Simpson. I just hope Clarkson isn't at the WCE next year. That'd be sure to throw a spanner in the works.
  17. I reckon Buddy Franklin will be at GWS next year. Spoke to Gubby Allen yesterday about Taylor Adams. He gave away nothing, other than to confirm that he will be playing for a club in Melbourne next year. I suspect it's not the MFC unfortunately. Sheedy ran down the MFC all night and joked how excited the Dees were that we landed Roos. "Might get them to 14th on the ladder next year". We have no respect. He said Jolly would be a great pick up (ala John Barnes in 2000) and said GWS would have a crack. I told him, and the other 400 people in attendance, that he'd be a Demon next year. (I hope everything I read here is true.) Gubby Allen, whilst not giving any info on the trades, winked and quite sincerely said to me - "Roos will turn you guys around next year. I guarantee that." I know I'm not saying anything new in stating this, but everyone rates Roos. Also had 50 bucks on Gunston for the Norm Smith at 41/1. Everyone at the GWS function thought he was BOG. Nearly necked myself.
  18. Agree entirely D26. We absolutely need to keep Sylvia. That several clubs are interested in him, and that Paul Roos wants to keep him, says it all really. Speaking to an assistant coach after the GWS loss, he essentially said that the only Demon that concerned them was COLIN SYLVIA. Some people here just don't seem to get it. We have the worst midfield in the comp and one that is completely bereft of any older players with class. Sylvia has class. And skills. And muscles. Relevantly, Sylvia is an UFA, and many here are " ... whatever" if he decides to leave. Perhaps I'd get that position if there was a great trade on offer for him - but, here's the rub, there is not. Bloody ridiculous position IMO. Real head in the sand stuff. Must re-sign him asap. Any updates on his negotiation would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Interesting if true. Of the three (Sloane, Rockliff, Swallow), I'd take either Sloane or Rockliff ahead of Swallow for pick 2. As between Sloane or Rockliff, I'm torn. Probably Rockcliff.
  20. Simply cannot agree with this. I reckon every club in the competition would be interested in Howe.
  21. Shaw Frawley Garland That's genuinely an elite back three.
  22. No offence taken. I re-read it the next morning and silently cringed to myself. Alcohol is known to impair one's judgement. I think I love him though.
  23. If true, this would be bloody sensational. From memory, Rockcliff polled 16 votes in the Brownlow.
