Farewell Jesse Hogan
Not sure if it’s been said but Freo haven’t shown up at Marvel stadium yet! Bunch of tools.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
That would be grand to be honest.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The basically sums it up. From the AFL website wrap for today "That's why the Dockers have been circling him for so long. And that's why it would be disastrous if they let him go when he's finally gettable just because they want a 'win' rather than a 'win-win'. "

Given the circumstances that may happen. how did the Hawks swing it?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I wonder if we have said to GC, "What can we arrange for May without the Hogan deal". They might be working on a package as a backup, who knows, It depends on what May has told GC. Might be a few players we feel we can swap and still improve our list. Not that I think too many our player want to go North.

Farewell Dean Kent
Good luck to Kent. Deal is about right, he has a body made of paper. Breaks down too often for a higher pick.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
This is a spot on comment by one of their own members: "Fremantle during trade week remind me of that fat kid at school who used to go around trying to shaft everyone in basketball card trading deals." Classic. I do remember they tried to get their current forward and then wouldn't part with the picks and screwed him for a year. Why would like you to go a club like that.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Why would'nt you. But the reality its Freo and given their history it not a place you would rush to play footy.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Maybe he met Ross Lyon on his tour and thinks, well gee, its a lot of money but... I think basically Freo can't afford him without losing Neale.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Did Peter Bell critics the dockers for resigning him late in the season while a ABC radio presenter? He started on Saturday and I think his first thought was get rid of that dead weight. They should just pay him out for the stupid contract for next year and get rid of him. They are just hoping to move him on with minimal fuss. The guy can't get through 2 games of footy within 6 months. Not to mention his other issues.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
But we can choose to match the RFA package if we wish. Assuming Neale leaves and it sounds like he wants to, then picks 4/5 is what Hogan is worth this year. If not we hold him and see what they come up with.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Our forward works with or without Jesse. Successful forward lines are built on getting the footy down there consistently to create opportunities to score, therefore the mid and backs really decide the game. We have goal kicking mids to support our forwards and two very good existing forwards which will mark or bring it to grounds, and both a have lots of years left so there is no desperate need for Jesse. However, having Jesse roaming the ground would be great for us. But in the end the club holds all the cards they can decide if they want to trade and on what terms for this trade period. Many times clubs haven't traded a player who wanted out and he went onto a great career with that club. How a player feels know doesn't always mean they will be the same in 12 months. Even if we don't get a good deal he is only restricted next year and we can match and then trade him to Freo. I guess its now watch this space.

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
Was a success as a mature age recruit to Roos then us. Stepped up to the best of his ability when called. Should retire satisfied based on his talent.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Every year Freo are reported to make a big pitch for a key forward. Same as every year SA teams made a pitch for Pavlich to return to SA, he never did. Hogan aerobic ability is huge for a key player, he does not need to play close to goal, true modern KP fwd.

Mark Neeld
I find the enlightens his desire to get a senior job he didn’t really look whether the club suited his style. that is important as well, some coaches need to fit the club culture too. He know realises he should have waited for a club that was a better fit for him. He was a disaster to us, but he was the face of it, not the whole problem.

Andrew Gaff
i remember that being mentioned years ago now. But in modern footy it does not mean as much anymore unless your name is Howe...

All business need luck or "fluke" to in the right place at the right time, and this does happen to many people, but the success comes from the hard work to build that opportunity into wealth.

The Urge to Merge
"You wouldn't have had to. As Don Scott famously showed . It was a Melbourne jumper with a yellow hawk on the front. Make no mistake , we weren't merging. We were taking over." Some interesting discussion, including the above. To be honest I voted fro the merger, simply because we would have become the Melbourne hawks...given we have changed our nickname a few times in the past, it wasn't a deal breaker. We were still ging to be the Melbourne footy club, as at the time we were the stronger party by far. The club was looking tot he future and were in a good position at the time, it was before the TV rights bonanza, which met the growing salary cap. And I think the AFL should pay for this will all the clubs, who manage how they spend it etc, but then the clubs raise money themselves for the training and support facilities. As for the future, we are in the best position financially for as long as I can remember and I believe we will continue to grow. As for infighting since Norm Smith, there was infighting in Norm's time, just you had a very successful period that held the club together and a very strong individual.
